The SpaceThis cozy spot is in a quiet neighborhood and puts you within minutes of all that the valley and mountains have to offer. The sleepy town of Big Pine is a great place to relax and enjoy all the beauty of the Eastern Sierra. Hot springs, Ancient Bristlecone Forests, glaciers, waterfalls, skiing/snowboarding, discovering the desert--there is so much to explore! Award winning and world famous food can also be found in our little town. More about that below. Then after your adventurous day, retreat to this cozy home nestled among it all. Relax beside the fireplace or sip wine on the balcony. Enjoy full and private access to the top level of the home including kitchen, bath, two bedrooms (3 beds) and living room with balcony. Washer and dryer are available downstairs on the outside patio. One bedroom has a queen size bed. The other has a full size bed and a twin bed. Someone rents the downstairs studio and garage full-time, more on that below. The house is just one block from the main street. World famous BBQ is just a short walk away. Copper Top BBQ ranked #1 on Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S. for 2015! Other tasty food options include delicious hot wings, pizza, and out-of-this-world delicious Blue Cheese Dressing at Rossi's Place. They make their own blue cheese dressing here. It's a family secret and incredibly delicious. The cowboy bar motif is worth the trip alone. Country Kitchen serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and has a pet friendly patio. Easy to walk to with the pups! Hi-Country Market at the Mobile has everything you need. Groceries, household supplies, camping/fishing equipment, fuel, DVDs, ice, you name it! There are beautiful walks right from the front door. Perfect for those traveling with their doggie friends. I can email you directions for a couple of my favorite walks. I do not live on the property but we are close by if you need anything! Eastern Sierra Transit has pickups in town that go to Bishop and Mammoth. Check out their website, or give them a call. Guest AccessYou have access to the entire upstairs unit. Interaction with GuestsI do not live on the property, but I'm readily available by text, email, and phone. The NeighborhoodQuiet and so close to breathtaking beauty! There are so many little hidden gems in the valley for those who take the time to find them. Getting AroundFor skiers and snowboarders, Eastern Sierra Transit has a bus that leaves Big Pine at 7 AM and transfers in Bishop to another bus at 7:30 for Mammoth. It departs Mammoth at 5:20 PM, then changes buses in Bishop and heads back to Big Pine. The pickup and drop off point is a block from the house. Eastern Sierra Transit also offers other times if you are just looking to get to Bishop. Check out their website or give them a call. Other Things to NoteThe house is heated by a wood burning stove. Firewood is provided and it heats the place up great! There is no central heating. The house is cooled by a swamp cooler (aka evaporative cooler). The low humidity in the valley makes this type of cooling the most effective and efficient. Tips for using the swamp cooler are in the guide book. A tenant lives in the downstairs studio. She is a nurse that often works the night shift, and while she is a self proclaimed heavy sleeper, please do not make excessive noise before noon especially. Please respect her privacy.

The SpaceI converted a master bedroom and bath into a studio with a private entrance and driveway. If you arrive at early check-in time, may I suggest you soak your tired body in Keough's Hotsprings (6 miles North) or one of the six natural pools formed from runoff. In the morning, take a walk and birdwatch on Klondike Lake (3 miles). In summer, Palisade Glacier resort (10 miles) offers pack trips around the 8 lake loop, great hiking and fabulous fishing. The oldest tree in the world lives in the Bristlecone Pine Park (24 miles). American Native petroglyphs adorn the Fish Slough loop (25 miles). This area is enchanting for rock hounds, fishermen, rock climbing, hiking, skiing, biking....almost anything you can imagine! My passion is painting the beauty of this valley and breathing in the wonder of its magic. The lowest point (Death Valley) and highest point (Mt. Whitney) in the western hemisphere are on either side this valley. The Paiute Natives say that "Inyo" means "the resting place of the Great Spirit". I believe it will give you a peaceful "resting place" after a long day of travel. Guest AccessPark your car on the South driveway and walk down the driveway to the back of the house. Go through the gate and you are here! Interaction with GuestsI will welcome you if I am home. I love soaking in the Hot Springs and do not get back before 7:00 P.M. several times a week. If you arrive early, you may wish to join me! If your start-up time is not too early, I will join you on the patio with a cup of coffee. I love meeting folks! The NeighborhoodI have great neighbors. Kit is friendly and will pop his head over the fence to say "hello". So, I would pull the curtains in the studio while getting dressed (hehe). The best part of Elmcrest Dr. is that it borders open land with grazing cattle and mountain views. Sitting on the patio with a chunk of cheese and wine is a great way to enjoy the long shadows cast on the mountains during dusk. I could go on forever... Getting AroundEastern Sierra Transit (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) Biking on county road may stir up some deer. Hiking in the upper meadow may stir up coyote, Great Horned Owls and Hawks. Other Things to NoteThere is a welcome booklet of restaurant menus, things to do, and basic information (emergency phone numbers, etc.) within the studio. Please read. Yelp gives high ratings to our restaurants. We may be a small town, but we serve quality.
