The SpaceWelcome to Sydney's Northern Beaches!
ABOUT THE STUDIO:
As part of our own home, we have a self-contained Studio [includes bathroom, full kitchen - with all cooking essentials, deck, private separate entrance] which can sleep 2 adults in either a king size bed or twin king single beds.
There is secured wifi, subject to service provision, throughout the studio and there is plenty of safe carparking immediately in front of our house. For the benefit of both ourselves and our neighbours we have a No Smoking policy throughout our property.
The Studio is accessed from a lovely garden; the studio deck has views out to the distant hills of Ku-ring-gai National Park, with the Pittwater estuary in the foreground. The Studio has a floor area of approximately 33m2; the terrace is approximately 16m2.
ABOUT THE AREA WE LIVE IN:
Our house and Studio are situated in a quiet and attractive street in Bilgola Plateau, a small bushland residential area located on an elevated plateau above the village of Avalon, which lies in the heart of Sydney's Northern Beaches.
The area is known as "The Peninsula" as it is bordered by Pittwater on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other, forming a narrow peninsula of land which terminates at Palm Beach in the north. Beautiful beaches and bushland on both ocean and river side of the Peninsula provide many opportunities for swimming, surfing, boating, walking, picnicing and sight-seeing.
The village of Avalon provides a great level of service for visitors: cafes, restaurants, a small, independent cinema, Woolworths supermarket, banks, organic food stores, delicatessens, chemists, hairdressers, bookstores, clothing and homeware boutiques, yoga and pilates centres - everything you need, but in a small and friendly area easy to walk around. The vibe is very laid back and the locals are friendly.
Avalon Beach is directly opposite the village, so it's easy to have a swim or surf and then wander over to the village to grab a coffee and a bite to eat.
The Studio is minutes by car to Avalon village, and Bilgola Beach - our preferred beach. Bilgola Beach is an unspoilt little gem, visited mostly by locals. It has a safe ocean pool for kids and is supervised by Life Savers most months of the year. A great little cafe provides good coffee, ice-creams and food. it takes us about 15 minutes to walk down to Bilgola Beach; about the same to Avalon village, but longer on the way back up the hill to our house [depending on our current level of fitness!]
Whale Beach and Palm Beach are about 10 minute drive away; 20 minutes by bus from
Our studio is perfect for two people looking for a quiet and relaxing retreat in accommodation which has superior furnishings [yes, a deeply comfortable latex bed] and good quality inclusions in a scenically lovely and unspoilt part of Sydney.

'Look forward to hearing from you soon! Interaction with GuestsWe work from our home office, but are respectful of guests' need for privacy...or company [and local information] when needed!
Access to the Studio is completely private: from parking on the street in front of the property, a path through the garden takes you to the Studio which is at the front of our house. Entrance to the main house, where we are, is up the driveway and to a separate front door. The NeighborhoodWe are fortunate to live in this area with its uncrowded beaches and idyllic waterways and are very happy to share it. The bushland, beaches, estuary and great cafe culture make for a relaxing getaway.
Getting AroundSydney/City to Avalon and Bilgola Plateau:
The main bus service [bus number L90] to the city departs every 30 minutes from Avalon; it can also be joined at a bus stop which is a 7-minute walk downhill from the Studio. Tickets can be bought on the bus provided it is not peak hour [6am - 9am; 3.30pm - 6.30pm]. During these peak hours you will need to purchase a pre-pay bus ticket from any local shop, newsagent or service station.
During the week there is an express bus service from Bilgola Plateau [bus number E89] in the morning and afternoon to and from the city. The bus stop for this service is a 2 minute walk from the Studio.
Driving time in a car to Sydney CBD is about 1 hour. Depending on the time of day, the bus trip is about 1 1/2 hours.
Bilgola Plateau to Avalon Village: if you don't feel like walking up or down the hill to Avalon Village there is also a local bus service [bus number L191] which you can join at the bus stop 2 minutes from the Studio.
Local trips to consider:
If you travel further north towards Palm Beach, you can get a ferry to take you to the coastal retreats on the western shores of Pittwater, or across to the lower Central Coast - any of these ferry trips make a great day trip. Similarly, if you travel south from Avalon - about 10 - 15 minutes driving time, you can pick up another ferry service at Church Point which provides service to the remote communities of Scotland Island and the western foreshores of Ku-ring-gai National Park. This too makes a great morning or afternoon trip as the little ferry chugs in and out of the many quiet bays and inlets of Pittwater. Other Things to NoteCANCELLATION POLICY
