The deluxe canopy cabins are made of solid wood, with ample, screened and glass windows.     Accessible by a boardwalk to protect the forest floor, the rainforest huts have no solid walls. Instead, the timber structure is screened on all four sides with weatherproof curtains that can be drawn for privacy and protection from inclement weather. Each hut has a small verandah and simple furnishings and sleeps two in either double or twin beds. Linens are provided and towels are available for hire from reception. A simple deck extends from the cabin, while the natural foliage of the forest creates privacy. Some cabins have an en-suite bathroom, which is gravity fed with fresh, cold water collected on site and includes a shower, a toilet and basin fittings of quality and style.

    The SpaceThe accommodation is in a pleasant tin shed, in a natural setting with a botanical collection of plants and with wildlife galore. Surrounded by rain forest and beaches, this somewhat secluded and private property is off the main road but with access to cafes and shops several kilometres away. Your own transport is recommended. A very private camp ground with kitchenette and undercover parking is available in a shady bamboo grove, separate from other accommodation but with shared facilities, private and with own access. Price is on application. Instant access to some of Australia's most pristine tropical beaches, Islands and rain forest walks. Islands include Australia's iconic Dunk Island. I am happy to be available to guests on a daily basis as my work allows, orientating guests to some of the unique locations and attractions of Mission Beach. During the day on weekdays I am unable to access Internet to answer queries. Having lived in the region for the past 30 years I have a broad knowledge of the local history and places of interest. I am keen about sharing my knowledge with guests from All over the World. Buses are available daily from Mission Beach North to Cairns and South to Brisbane. It is advisable to have your own transport although you can arrange with me to be picked up from the bus stop for a small fee. Push-bikes available for hire. There is mobile Internet reception and Wifi available. Guest AccessGuests will have access to garden and a shared outside bathroom which is separate from their accommodation but within easy reach and private. Plenty of parking room. The NeighborhoodThe islands, the beaches, the rain forest and its amazing plants and animals. I love living where nature still seems free, I can recommend walks and things to do for all tastes.. More than a dozen Cafes and restaurants in the Mission beach area. Getting AroundYour own vehicle is advised, although lifts to and from town can be arranged. The accommodation is 2 kilometers from a cafe and shop. Walking tracks abound and a beautiful choice of beaches and swimming holes to explore. Bikes for hire. Great choice of restaurants. Other Things to NoteCassowaries are occasional visitors to the garden as are many other wildlife species including wallabies, goannas, lizards, honey-eaters, cockatoos and various marsupials. There are very few snakes and spiders in this area although large harmless pythons and tree snakes are occasionally seen. The shed is somewhat open but roller doors can be closed at night, on windy days leaves may blow in, and lizards and occasionally pet chickens may come to visit. At some times of the year(usually summer) bugs of different species can be present. Mosquito repellent coils and nets are provided. The bathroom is in an older building, quaint and tidy but set in the garden, some 40 meters from the accommodation.

    The SpaceThe house was built in the 1930's in the Art Deco style, as was most of Innisfail after a cyclone destroyed the town. It is made of concrete blocks with 5inch thick walls and very high ceilings with plantation windows making the house and cool and breezy oasis from the tropical heat. There are ceiling fans in every room, air conditioning if required in the lounge dining kitchen area and a large art deco style bathroom. If you enjoy staying in a character home set in lush tropical gardens, a little bit off the well trodden tourist track, then this could be the place for you. I am a roadside vendor and market stall operator, selling fresh cold pressed sugarcane juice from my stall roadside and at markets. I also am a skydiver, having started late in life and now about 8 years later have jumped around 600 times. I would be happy to show you a video or two of my jumps where you can see the most amazing views of this area from up high. I have two small dogs who are my family so hopefully you are dog people as well. The NeighborhoodInnisfail is a lovely town, one of the few predominantly Art Deco towns in Australia, with a rich history, situated on the cusp of the North and South Johnstone Rivers. Only an hour from Cairns, close to the highly acclaimed Paronella Park and gateway to the Atherton Tablelands. The local beach, Etty Bay is also famous for being able to see Cassowaries wander through the park on most visits. I can point you in the right direction to local attractions and if I can blind fold you (not really) I can possibly take you to some amazing swimming holes in the rainforest that tourists don't know about. Getting AroundIf you don't feel like walking to town, there is a bus that picks you up from virtually the front door.

The main house has two queen-size bedrooms with garden view ensuites. Adjoining the house is a large, air-conditioned room which can sleep up to five. This is a perfect teenage domain away from the rest of the family. Own TV, bar fridge and bathroom. Close by is the well-known Bicton Hill Walking Track which is a four kilometre graded track and offers fabulous views, and diverse flora and fauna.     The SpaceThere is room for 6 people also a sofa bed, porta cot, and some bunks if needed but only 1 shower so we prefer to keep the numbers reasonable for everybody's comfort and we have a dishwasher. All rooms have airconditioning. Guest AccessTake a drive out to Paronella Park or a trip into Tully. Maybe the Sunday markets at Mission Beach or a trip out to Dunk island and dive on the reef.     The SpaceSet in the rainforest near the junction of two permanent creeks just upstream from Bingil Bay beach. Observe, the wildlife, at this simple, eclectically furnished cottage nestled within habitat frequented by cassowaries and home to the rare Red-necked crake. There are two bedrooms, one queen, one double, making it suitable for two couples. (NB The cottage is not suitable for children under 12).       Coquette Point B&B; over looks the rain forest meeting the Coral Sea. Relax in beautiful surroundings with luxury Bath products and Egyptian cotton sheets. Coquette Point is close to the town of Innisfail however, you would think your a world away from all the hustle and bustle of the fast pace of city life. Coquette Point is 10 minutes out of the Art Deco town of Innisfail. There are many places to visit and explore that are close by such as, the award winning Paronella Park and the Mamu tree top walk which while staying at Coquette Point. Take a picnic lunch down to the excluded beach at the front of the B&B; and at low tide hunt for oysters. There is a hydrotherapy spa to relax and unwind. We have under cover parking and champagne and nibbles on arrival.

        Altitude140 tropical Far North Queensland Australia. A140 is a private luxury retreat surrounded by tropical rainforest and set 140 meters above sea level. The 300 degree view takes in the Great Barrier Reef, Beaver Cay, the Family Group of islands including Dunk, Bedarra and Hinchinbrook. The property is approximately 17 acres of manicured lawns and tropical rainforest. Wildlife abounds on the property including the endangered cassowary. The red goshawk returns each year to nest in the valley beside A140 and raise its young, May to December. This bird is extremely rare with only an estimated 500 left in the wild. Other wildlife include wallabies, echidnas, butterflies galore, Hercules moths, possums, cockatoos and sea eagles. This is just some of the wildlife that can be seen.                   The SpaceThis is a family owned holiday house expertly refurbished as two independent self-contained apartments that are available for holiday rental. Car parking spaces and entrances are separated. Rentals are on the basis of a single apartment at the indicated tariff, or for larger groups, or more facilities, the whole house. We only rent to one party at a time except with the prior approval of both parties. Family members may sometimes be in one apartment when the other has guests who are advised accordingly. Please note that Etty Bay has been declared a glass and dog free zone by the local council. Cassowaries roam the area and one visits the house on most days. If you are towing a boat, there is room to park one or two trailers and there is a hose point and shower near the guest carport. Guest AccessThe Old Pottery occupies the ground floor. Covered parking for two cars is provided. Keys are kept in a key-safe and a document is provided to give clear access instructions. Interaction with GuestsSusan and Grant live in Cairns and can assist with local knowledge. Other family members, John, Karina and Ellie, are further away but rest assured that one of us will be able to help solve any problems. If we are in the residence, we love to interact with guests. The NeighborhoodCassowaries and the pristine beach are the major attractions. The van park is popular and many locals head to Etty Bay during weekends and school holidays. There are many pleasant day trip options from Etty Bay. Mission Beach is a 40 minute drive, the Atherton Tableland and Cairns are about an hour away. Getting AroundA car is necessary as there is no public transport available. Other Things to NoteSelf catering its anticipated as Etty Bay only has a kiosk. The nearest restaurants are at Innisfail, a 15 to 20 minute drive away. If you plan on arriving via Cairns, there are some good options such as Rusty's Market for stocking up on fresh local produce. Sleeping arrangements sometimes need to be advised ahead so we can set the beds up; e.g. we can set up the baby cot or have a mattress on the floor for small children. We use a professional cleaning and laundry service and change linen weekly. There is enough room in the yard to park a boat on trailer and the carport is high enough for roof racks with luggage on top. There is an outdoor shower near the carport for washing off salt and sand; beach towels are provided. Unless your feet are tough sandals or thongs will be needed for the walk to the beach.
