The SpacePrivacy and nature abound at this cozy log cabin nestled in the Shawangunk mountains. Build by hand 65 years ago, the home was first owned by a NYC ballerina as her summer escape. Eleven-acre property with beautiful spring-fed stream stocked with trout. Cabin is perched on a high shale cliff directly above a large waterfall. Nature surrounds you here, with stunning sunrises, amazing stargazing, and countless birds and creatures (including porcupines and the occasional bear). Soak in the clawfoot bathtub under a skylight to the stars, BBQ local veggies outside on the charcoal grill, hike nearby trails, soar in a glider plane and visit the local organic winery. So much to do and see in the surrounding area, whether it's the famous ice caves hike at nearby Sam's Point, the conscientious food served at Aroma Thyme Bistro, the nature watching at the Basha Kill wetland or an amazing Korean farm-to-table restaurant up the road, you won't get bored. The cabin includes a modern kitchen with a dishwasher; a sitting room with a comfy couch and fireplace; a downstairs bedroom with a queen-size bed; a bathroom with claw-foot tub; a dining room with table that seats eight; a living room with a big leather couch, comfortable chairs and a flat-screen TV; and an upstairs sleeping loft with a king-size bed. But we're always accessible by email, text message or phone if you can't access AirBNB. We are not located on the premises. The NeighborhoodThe privacy here is incredible when you consider how close it is to the big city - you can really get away from people and noise! The view from the cabin is an undeveloped area of the Shawangunk Ridge, and the house is set 300 feet off a dead-end road to enhance the secluded feeling. But not to worry, there are restaurants, a grocery store, a gas station, a liquor store and pharmacy within a seven-minute drive in the sleepy town of Wurtsboro. The cabin is across from the open space corridor at the headwaters of the Bashakill Wildlife area. The historic D&H Canal flows through town. A little further north is Ellenville, with top-notch organic restaurants, an authentic kosher bakery and a quaint downtown. Getting AroundThe Otisville train station for NJ Transit's Port Jervis line is about 15 mins away from the cabin, but you'd have to call a taxi to pick you up. Would be pretty hard to do the trip without a car, given need for groceries. Other Things to NotePrices are discounted for stays of a week or more.
