The NeighborhoodThe drive along the beachfront on Marine Drive to get to Bliss Cottage immediately sets the holiday tone. Kite-boarders race across the bay against the picture-postcard view of Table Mountain and Robben Island. Everywhere people are jogging, cycling, walking or savoring the view from one of the many beachfront restaurants and bars. You can enjoy a variety of local surfing spots close by including ever-popular Eden on the Bay/Big Bay. Or cycle along the dedicated beachfront cycle lane (right into Cape Town city centre if you wish) or enjoy the mountain-biking and hiking trails in nearby Koeberg Nature reserve where you can spot Springbok, Eland, Zebra, Bontebok, Blesbok, angulated tortoises and even the odd Cape Cobra, to name but a few. Access to the city, Table Mountain, Winelands & west coast flowers (in season Aug-Oct) is easy by car or bus. Links golf is available at Atlantic Beach or Milnerton Golf course. Virgin Active Gym 5 min away. Bird-watching at Rietvlei nature area where you can spot large flocks of flamingo and pelican. The quaint and ever-popular Milnerton Flea Market on Saturdays and Sundays is a must. Getting AroundThe nearest MyCiti Bus Station is at Shell Road, about 500 m from the front door. With the MyCiti bus you can connect to Cape Town International Airport, get to Melkbosstrand on the West Coast, sail past the traffic to Cape Town city centre, connect on to The Gardens, the V&A Waterfront, Seapoint and Houtbay.     Blaauwberg House is a family holiday house that epitomises the beach holiday lifestyle in Cape Town. The accommodation offers open spaces and a friendly, entertaining atmosphere in a beach-lifestyle oriented location. This is a wonderful sunny family home, situated in Bloubergstrand, Cape Town, South Africa, about 50 meters from the sea (on Small Bay). If you need an accommodation holiday rental close to Cape Town (only 20-25 minutes drive), but want the relaxing atmosphere with the sea in your ears, this is the perfect accommodation for you. Please note, there is a built in double bed on the lower level which we don't officially list as a bed, but which can accommodate persons up to 6ft tall and can be used on request so two more guests (totalling 8) are allowed, on request. Bloubergstrand is a quaint little suburb, just outside the exciting cosmopolitan buzz of the central city Cape Town. Blouberg has world class kite boarding and windsurfing conditions (as attested to the Red Bull King of Air kite surfing contest recently held at Big Bay, which is 5 minutes walk away). The house is also within 5 minutes drive of all the major kite surfing beaches like Dolphin Beach (Table View), Haakgat and Melkbos (or you can just launch right in front of the house and be there in 5 minutes). Take long walks on Blouberg beach with your family or just enjoy the view from your own large patio or sunny family room. Small Bay is a child friendly beach (right in front of the house) with small waves and a play park just a few minutes walk away. A shopping mall is a few minutes drive away for grocery shopping (or a leisurely stroll if you feel like it). There are also excellent sea-front restaurants (one on Blaauwberg House's doorstep so to speak) with any cuisine you might fancy, and Eden on the Bay lifestyle centre is also very close (with a multitude of bars and restaurants).

      We have 2 very neat, clean and modern rooms on the popular MyCiti bus route. Each room has an en suite shower and separate entrance. Kitchenette equipped with kettle, microwave, toaster and bar fridge. Television with 5 channels. We are 2 minutes walking distance to the sea and restaurants and 10 mins walking distance from the popular kite surfing spots (Big Bay and Eden on the Bay) It is self catering but we do supply towels and clean linen every 5 days. Bloubergstrand is a small tranquil village 15 minutes from the Cape Town CBD and V & A Waterfront. We are on the MyCiti bus route which takes you to V&A; Waterfront + City Center within 20 minutes. We are walking distance to all the restaurants in Bloubergstrand Village and walking distance to the beach and Big Bay, Eden on the Bay. Bloubergstrand is the kite boarding mekka of South Africa. There are ample parking in front of the accommodation.

This 2 Bedroom unit with relaxed elegance is reflecting the beach style which gives Bloubergstrand its reputation as the ultimate holiday playground for travelers. Beautiful tranquil setting in a quiet neighborhood, rich with birdlife and with the smell of the ocean lingering in the air. We are offering a 2 bedroom unit attached, but sectioned off from the main home, to offer you your privacy. Guests have a private guest entrance, with parking space, on the side of the property. The entrance to the rental unit is via the main bedroom. The main bedroom consists of a double bed, writing desk, Chairs television with satellite, bar fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster (please note that this is only a semi self catering unit ) A passageway lead you to the 2nd bedroom with a double bed. 1 bathroom with a shower, bath, basin and toilet. The main bedroom leads out onto the beautiful swimming pool area and garden. Both rooms are equipped with soft furnishings, white linen, offering our guests a comfortable yet elegant space to relax in and to enjoy all the beautiful things that Blouberg has to offer. We welcome conversation and getting to know our guests, however we do respect our guests privacy and want our guests to enjoy their private space. La Paloma Estate offers a quiet neighborhood, situated on the prestigious area between Big Bay and Melkbosstrand, West Coast South Africa. The estate also borders on Blaauwberg Nature Reserve. This is a safe environment with 24hour security guard patrol on the estate. Seaside Village and Eden On The Bay centres are only 800 m away and offers a variety of restaurants, shops and bars. There are also plenty of surf shops offering Stand Up Paddling, Surfing and Kitesurfing lessons and gear rental. Big Bay, Bloubergstrand is a Surfers Paradise. The My Citi Bus Stop is 800 m from La Paloma Estate We also offer our guests the use of 2 mountain bikes to explore the stunning west coast cycling paths. (bikes can also go on the bus) The nearby Koeberg Nature reserve has a lovely mountain bike trial to try or you can simply just cycle down to the Table View Beachfront area enjoying the beautiful Table Mountain Views. The braai area is the owner's private space, however inhouse guests can make use of this braai with prior arrangement with Warren or myself. Alternatively we can offer a portable braai for guests to use on their private patio. Please advise arrival time and make necessary key collection arrangement 1 day prior your arrival. We also wish to advise our guests that we do have 2 well behaved, cute, miniature Schnauzer dogs on the premises and a beautiful little girl, Jorden. Other Things to NoteTAKE NOTE OF THE NEW SOUTH AFRICAN VISA REGULATIONS INTRODUCED IN October 2015 IMC DECISION TAKEN: Visa requirements for foreigners travelling to SA revised Here's what you need to know about the department of home affairs changes to SA's visa rules: - In countries where there is no South African mission, the department of home affairs will accept applications by post. - This will apply for tourist and medical visitors only. - Postal applications will see biometrics of travellers, including finger prints and photos, captured on arrival at ports of entry. - Biometric pilot site ports of entry are OR Tambo Airport, King Shaka Airport, Cape Town International Airport. - Countries like China, India and Russia, certain measures will be put in place to ease the process of application, in particular for tourists. - South African children travelling out of the country will still be required to submit the current child-travel requirements, including a parental consent affidavits as a means to protect the minors. - The validity of this affidavit will be extended to no longer than 6 months. - Details of parents will also be printed in passports, so that parents whose particulars are printed would therefore not be required to carry the birth certificates. (However the DHA advises that this form of identification still be carried as a form of proof. - For inbound travellers, the proof of original birth certificates or certified copies would only be required during the application process, as this is in line with practise in many other countries. (As is the case with the South African Children travelling in and out of South Africa, the DHA advises that this form of identification still be carried and will reserve the right to investigate suspected child trafficking on a case by case basis.) - Cabinet also approved changing the term “unabridged birth certificate” to “birth certificate containing parental details”. - DHA is also considering long-term multiple entry visas for frequent travellers. The DHA said, “Cabinet has mandated DHA to put in place the necessary legal instruments to give effect to this decision. The status quo will remain until such time the DHA has provided a legal instrument for this category of travellers.
