The SpaceIt's a cozy retreat nestled in six secluded acres of redwood forest, just 5 miles inland from the Pacific north coast. Easy day-trip driving to all national and state redwood parks. It's a great place for families or couples, anyone who would enjoy a stay in an adventurous hideaway. You'll find a 2 story house with rustic charm, made from the trees in the forest where it sits in the north end of the Fieldbrook Valley. Favorite things to enjoy include: New cedar creekside deck with BBQ pit overlooking the year-round creek...salmon spawning in the winter...treehouse on a stump--looks like friendly Ewoks might live there...bird song from morning light to dusk...gentle sounds of wind in the trees and the riffle of the creek...3 kinds of apple trees, summers out of the coastal fog...cozy fires in either the kitchen woodstove or the fireplace in the living room...handmade wood windows and trim, built-in walnut breakfast nook...making pancakes for a crowd or just a few in the kitchen is easy with electric glass cooktop, built-in wall oven/microwave, dishwasher...reading the Sunday papers in the sunroom loveseat or lounging in an Adirondack chair on the sunny deck...wine tasting and playing bocce at the nearby Fieldbrook Valley Winery... We have had warm and enthusiastic response hosting our Arcata vacation apartment, so we decided to share our country home as well. It is still close enough (about 10 minutes drive to McKinleyville,15 to Arcata) to easily enjoy all that the northcoast has to offer by way of redwood parks, beaches, rivers, shopping, theaters, university and so much more. But who knows? Staying in such a peaceful corner of your own redwood forest, you might not need to wander very far to be perfectly content.

This space is student housing for, Dell Arte. Not usually available for the public to rent. It's a rare opportunity to live in downtown Blue Lake. I am a single mom, and have rehabbed the space with recycled materials, so if a few slight stains will bother you, this may not be your place... But if you appreciate up cycling, you may appreciate the space.. It's not an "up dated" space... it's a more creative collaboration of natural and recycled materials, inspired by old world Europe..

The SpaceWe are located 7 miles inland (take 299 E.) of Arcata, and the Pacific North Coast, and the Redwood Parks. The space is warm and sunny, with cool breezes and ocean air. It's an artists retreat space and a work in progress. Guest AccessGuests have access through a gate, on G st.. There is off-street parking for 1 car. Interaction with GuestsI am usually available and happy to answer any questions. Please call if you need anything. The NeighborhoodBlue Lake is a very unique city of 1200 people. There are no traffic lights and no leash laws. There in an international school, Dell Arte, one block away, with sometimes live theatre. Blue Lake was a logging town and still holds its roots close as the culture is still alive and merging with a vital progressive element, harmonizing well, as we are all getting to know each other at the local watering holes, dancing our ways into the future happily, and so blessed by so much live local music.. The Mad River is usually clean, unless sediment loads are heavy due to rains and steep slopes, or too warmed by low water flows. This has been a great year as we had lots of rains. Currently the water is wonderful, still cool and clear. Blue Lake is on the edge of the Wilderness. One may see salmon, eagles, osprey, otter, beaver elk, herons and varies other birds and wildlife, down at the river's shore. Getting AroundIn Blue Lake, we all walk where we need to go.
