The Space"Dave's Dream" Adirondack Retreat is a spacious and inviting cabin in the heart of the Adirondack mountains, in the one-of-a-kind town of Raquette Lake, NY. Raquette is the largest natural lake in the Adirondacks with 99 miles of shoreline - most of which is owned by the state and is therefore maintained as beautiful, uninhabited wilderness! Eight or nine guests fit comfortably with 6 beds (4 full size beds, 1 twin, and 1 pull-out sofabed). Each room has its own special Adirondack-style charm - from the "Bear Bedroom" to the "Moose Bathroom!" This is a "housekeeping cabin" aka "bungalow rental," which means that guests are responsible for bringing their own linens (towels, sheets, & pillowcases). Guest AccessYou will have access to the entire house and yard. 4-5 cars fit easily in the driveways. Note that this is not a lakefront property, but is just across the street from Raquette Lake - a 3 minute walk! You'll have access to our wifi, but it can be a bit spotty up there in the woods! Interaction with GuestsWe would be happy to speak to you by phone, or by AirBNB message, about the house and property. We will explain the process of obtaining the key 1 week prior to your arrival. The NeighborhoodIn the winter, Raquette Lake boasts some of the greatest snowfall in the region. Just 500 feet away from the lake, you and your snowmobiles will have easy access to the lake and countless of miles of breathtaking trails (weather permitting, of course!) Try out some snow-shoeing and cross-country or downhill skiing, or just get cozy by the fire. In the summer, just walk 2 minutes to the marina, where you can rent boats, kayaks, etc. Take a cruise on Raquette Lake on a local tour boat, complete with food and music. Or just hang out at the house, barbecue, and make s'mores around the fire. In the fall, come for the unbeatable leaf-peeping. And all year long, just relax and unwind! Getting AroundYou will obviously need a vehicle to get around, and 4-wheel drive is highly recommended in the winter months. You can ride your snowmobiles across Raquette Lake (IF frozen) basically anywhere in this region - just trailer your own sleds up to the cabin (or, rent sleds from Inlet or Old Forge). You can also rent boats from Burke's Marina (just a 3 minute walk from the cabin!) during your summer stay. Other Things to NoteRaquette Lake is quiet, secluded and relatively far from the nearest big city (which is a big part of its charm!) so please be careful during all of your outdoors activities. In addition, it can get extremely cold during the winter season so we will ask you to take certain precautions when leaving the house unattended (such as maintaining the heat at a certain temperature, etc). The areas in and around Raquette Lake, for the most part, do not have a reliable cell phone signal (Sprint, AT&T are spotty, Verizon has barely a signal!) Use our wireless internet (also sometimes spotty, but ok for the most part) to send text messages over wifi, and please feel free to share the landline phone number with your family in case they need to reach you (no international calling permitted).
