The SpaceSerenity is a cabin/chalet mix. The greatroom is 35' x 35' with 25' soaring ceilings and 2 ceiling fans to keep the air circulating. The kitchen is new with beautiful hickory cabinets, a Jenn-aire gas cooktop with electric convection oven. There are enough dishes, glasses, and cutlery to ensure you only need to run the dishwasher once a day even with a large group. Additional dishes and serveware are in the sideboard. Dishwasher soap is provided. Water is supplied from a well. There is a large holding/pressure tank and 80 gallon hot water heater to ensure uninterrupted water supply. All water in the house is filtered and softened with a brand new, state of the art filtration system. Shower towels, pool towels, and river towels, shampoo, conditioner, bath soap, and hair dryers are provided. Washer, dryer, wash soap, fabric softener, iron and full size ironing board are provided. Serenity is a work in progress. The original owners made some interesting choices when building this house. The fireplace is gas fired, even though we are in the middle of the woods ...go figure. (However, it is extremely convenient! Flip a switch and there is fire.) The carpet, though it has some stains, has been professionally cleaned. It is cleaned on a semi-annual basis. The carpet is scheduled to be replaced with hardwood. Guest AccessThere is a cypher lock on the door. You will be given a code that will be active beginning on the first day of our stay and it will deactivate 30 minutes after checkout time on the last day of your stay. Guests have access to the entire main floor and loft, the hot tub, laundry room, and grounds including fire pit. Use of the fire pit is, of course, dependent upon the current fire warning constraints. Please check on line for the current conditions in Clarke County. There is a gas barbeque for guest use. Barbeque tools are provided. Interaction with GuestsYou will receive an email roughly one week after your reservation is confirmed. It will include directions, your personal code for the cypher lock, and a soft copy of the house rules. The house rules will also be available during your stay in a tabbed binder at Serenity. There will be a short (30 minute) phone call to review the House Rules in detail so there are no misunderstandings in our expectations of our guests. The NeighborhoodThe quiet is amazing! The loudest sounds are the crickets, cicadas, and birds. There is the occasional barking dog, you are in the country after all. There are great restaurants in Purcelleville, just 20 minutes away, including our favorite Magnolia's at the Mill. Go to (URL HIDDEN) and (URL HIDDEN) to see a comprehensive list of wineries and activities in the area. The zip code is 20135. Getting AroundSerenity is about 45 minutes from Dulles International Airport and 1.5 hours from Washington Reagan International Airport. Toy Hill Lane is private property comprised of 5 owners covering 200+ acres. Serenity is 4 miles and two ridges from Rt 7. There is no direct public transportation. The nearest grocery and pharmacy are in Purcellville. There is a Harris Teeter, Giant, Food Lion, CVS, and Walgreens. Other Things to NoteThere are more than 40 vineyards, 2 breweries, and a distillery within an hour's drive. The Appalachian Trail passes within a quarter mile of the house. There are convenient access points on Rt. 7 and Morgan's Mill Road. The Hollywood Casino and Race Track is 30 minutes away. Watermelon Park and Campground offer kayaks and rafts to rent for just hanging around in the Shenandoah or for half day and full day river trips. Check (URL HIDDEN) There is a lot of information about activities in the area. I can't hope to stay as up to date on activities and places of interest as they do on this site. Bed configuration: Three of the bedrooms have changeable bed configurations: BR1, Master Bedroom: King bed, Pillow top mattress, upstairs, in the master suite.[ 2 persons. 16' x 20'] An extra air mattress (or two) could be put in here. BR2: King bed, Sleep number mattress. One of the twin trundles could be in here as well. [2 or 3 persons. 12' x 12'] BR3: 2 day beds with pop-up trundles, can be 2 twins, 3 twins, or 1 king and 1 twin. [2 or 3 persons. 12' x 12'] BR4: 1 day bed, can be 2 twins or one King. [2 persons. 8' x 12'] Bonus (5th bed)room This is an odd little upstairs room far to the side so the ceiling of the room is never flat, it tapers from the tall left side, where it touches the wall about 12 feet up, to the floor on the right side 12 feet away. (Picture a tall right triangle.) Two twin mattresses (with box springs) or these can be pushed together to make a king. These mattresses are light enough to haul around and put them where you want/need them to be. (Perhaps in the master suite for children.) [2 persons. 9' x 12'] We have this room set up as a TV room/hideaway. There is a 32" LCD TV and DVD player. Perfect for anyone needing quiet space. Overflow: La-Z-Boy Sofa and love seat each have two very comfy recliners that fold nearly flat. 4 persons. Recap: BR1 - King BR2 - King or King & 1 Trundle BR3 - King & Twin or 2 Twins or 3 Twins BR4 - King or 2 Twins BR5 - King or 2 Twins Couch & Loveseat- 4 recliners Floorspace - Limited only by your imagination ;-) Some housekeeping items to consider before you make your final decision: There is NO cable. There is NO broadcast TV. Wi-Fi is limited to non-streaming only. No turkey fryers. No aerial fireworks. No one under 16 in the Hot Tub. NO exceptions. There are no curtains over the window in the master bath. These windows are 2.5 stories off the ground, you can't see the house from the private lane because of the trees, and there are 5 acres between our house and the nearest. I don't intend to put any more curtains up. (Just adding the disclosure because the lack of curtains flustered a recent guest.) If you require curtains I suggest you take one of the main level rooms, all of which have curtains. 8-) The carpet in the great room has been professionally cleaned a couple of times. It is irreparably stained due to the lack of maintenance by the former owners but we have managed to mitigate most of the spots. It is scheduled to be replaced in the next year. However this does not mean I will let any new, big, gnarly stains on the carpet slide. If I have to call out the carpet cleaner you will be billed. 8-) (You know what I mean. If you spill something please clean it up.)

There are two Adirondack chairs on the lower lawn looking out to the Shenandoah Valley. It's the perfect place to relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the view! Interaction with GuestsWe are here to welcome you when you arrive and are happy to help with whatever needs you may have. Our assistant, "Kim," may also be on hand to help with planning your stay. The NeighborhoodWe are only one hour away from Washington, DC but a world away from the hub-bub. This is a unique property, located one mile "up the mountain" from a major highway, making for easy access. As you ascend the secondary road, you'll pass a delightful winery with spectacular views (and great wine!). Keep going up and you come to the farm. Angus cattle reside here, on top of the world. Continue on through the towering trees of the forest, known locally as "the cathedral." At the end of this short passage is Llanmeath, on the left, where a relaxing, delightful experience awaits. Welcome! Getting AroundYour car is your carriage. The rural area around Bluemont is beautiful, and activities abound throughout the area - antiquing, horse competitions, farm tours, artist exhibitions, hiking, blue grass concerts, farmers markets, and more. We are convenient to Middleburg, Leesburg, and Berryville. There are many wonderful restaurants nearby, with locally sourced menus. And if hiking is an interest, our property is just off the Appalachian Trail.
