Enjoy life's simple pleasures. Dawdle under giant trees filled with wonderful birds, laugh at the squirrels showing off and hold your breath as deer amble through the yard on their way to the orchard next door. Wander through flowerbeds and delight as hummingbirds stop in midair to introduce themselves. Pick berries or watch butterflies play. Relax in a rocking chair, sip tea, eat cookies, read books, ponder puzzles, admire the view or just listen to the wind in the trees. Nudged between the trees overlooking the Orting Valley, near Seattle and Tacoma and minutes from downtown Puyallup. Great food, great calm, great stories and a fabulous view await your arrival.

The SpaceAmazing custom home on a stunning lake. Gorgeous views, water toys, huge patio - its like your own private resort! The NeighborhoodLake Tapps is one of the few lakes in western Washington that allows boats and jet skiis, and has easy access to shopping and dining in nearby (10 minutes) Bonney Lake and Sumner areas. Other Things to NoteIt is listed as 16+ max guests but you'll note that there are only 6 beds (2 queen, 3 twin, and a trundle sofa that sleeps 2, plus a crib). So there are beds for 9 plus an infant but we can accommodate more with air mattresses or kids crashing elsewhere. We can also rent roll-away twin or full size beds for $50 per week each. Just let us know your needs and we can work with you! Lake Tapps is a reservoir with water levels lowered in the winter and raised in the spring. In the winter when water levels are lower boating is not allowed, but there are still lovely views from the house. I've included pictures showing both winter and summer water levels.

The SpaceOur family is friendly and will usually be home during visits. We honor privacy but also enjoy interaction with guests. It is very likely that one of our children will invite our guests to participate in a game with them or we may even invite our guests to join us for a scenic walk around the block or along the river. It is our hope to help you feel 'at home' when visiting. Note: We have one large room listed. The room features: 1 King sized bed and 1 full sized pull-out sofa bed. The room will sleep 4 adults or 2 adults with 3 kids comfortably. However, if you have a larger party and are flexible, we have plenty of space available to accommodate those needs. Guest AccessGuests will have access to specified room(s), 1.5 guest bathrooms, laundry room, kitchen, living room, front/back yards. Interaction with GuestsWe respect the culture of each individual that visits our home. Since we will usually be home when visitors are here, we'll let them decide how much interaction they'd like to have with our family. If you'd like to join us at the dinner table, share your journey, watch a movie, or play a game with us; we would be happy to have that company. Your level of interaction is truly up to you. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is filled with love and respect. We have a feeling of safety and community. Our children play games in the street, ride bikes/scooters together, and just hang out at each other's house. As neighbors we talk by the mailboxes, decorate our houses for holidays, and even set off fireworks for certain holidays. It is a great place to be! Getting AroundAlthough our house will be a little bit of a drive from the airport it is fairly easy to find using freeways and highways. There is not public transportation that travels through our little town but the drive is very scenic and worth it. Other Things to NoteWhile here, guests may also get the opportunity to 'get to know' some of our pets. We have a few indoors but due to allergies, most are outdoors. These animals add variety and personality to our lives. We hope you enjoy them too!

The SpaceThe house was remodeled in 2013 with new carpet and paint throughout and updated bathrooms. The upper level Master Suite features a queen bed overlooking the lake and adjoins a sumptuous en suite bath with a double shower, soaking tub, and heated tile floor. Two additional bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with two twins, and a full bath complete the upper level. The downstairs features an open plan family and dining area, a living room with a full-sized pool table, a dining room with table seating six, and a laundry room and a ½ bath. The spacious kitchen offers bar seating for three and has large windows overlooking the deck and lake so you can enjoy the view and keep an eye on your family and friends while preparing meals. An additional table for four sits nearby. If you tire of spending time on the lake, fishing from the dock, relaxing in the yard, or barbecuing on the gas grill, you can always retreat to the family room and relax in front of the flat screen tv or shoot a game of pool. The hot tub on the deck is another great option, too. A gazebo in the back features a seating area and a rock fireplace, perfect for gathering in the evenings and roasting marshmallows for s’mores. In the summer months, bring your boat and have convenient water access using our dock and its boat lift that accommodates boats up to 25 ft, and/or bring your jet skis and keep them on our double jet ski ramp. If a slower, quieter pace on the water is more your style, paddle our sit-on-top kayaks along the extensive 45 mile shoreline. The lake has many inlets and interesting places to explore, and much of it offers gorgeous views of Mt. Rainier. Please note that Lake Tapps is a reservoir that is lowered from late October through late April each year, and motor boat access is unavailable during these months. The lake level lowers approximately 3-10 feet. Guest AccessGuess have access to main house, deck, yards, and dock. If some serious shopping is on your to-do list, The Outlet Collection in Auburn is a mere 15 minutes away, boasting the largest indoor outlet mall in the Pacific Northwest with 130 traditional and outlet stores, restaurants, and a movie theater. Our home is 45 minutes from downtown Seattle, 30 minutes to Tacoma, and 90 minutes from Mt. Rainier National Park. Zoos, aquariums, Chambers Bay Golf Course, Northwest Trek Wildlife Park, Point Defiance Park (beaches and hiking), south Puget Sound Islands, and countless sights and activities are convenient day trips if you choose to leave your lakefront oasis. Getting AroundThe driveway has ample parking for cars and an adjoining gravel area for your trailer or water toys. Public transportation is limited in this area, so a rental car would be recommended.

There are two futons in the livingroom that become full size bed easy to open/close. Extra bed sheets, pillows and blankets are provided. Free internet and cable is available as well as an xbox/dvd player console (not many games though). Plenty of movies on dvd and cable. Guest AccessGuest entrance is on the left of main house. We will provide a key to get in. Our guests could also have access to our outdoor patio shown in the pictures, unless we are using it. In any case, let us know if you want to do that and maybe we can work something out. We are very sociable ;-) We are 3 houses from Lake Tapps and there is a private walk way to our dock for boat access but no swimming/diving is allowed from the dock. Interaction with GuestsWe are generally in the main house and we like to greet our guests in person if possible to show them around. After that you'll have your own access and we will respect your privacy. We like to meet people and make new friends but we are not at all intrusive. The NeighborhoodThis is a nice and quiet area next to Lake Tapps. Besides the lake there is a public golf course within a few minutes and plenty of nature to enjoy: Lakes, rivers and the Puget Sound which is about 30 minutes away. Also, not far there is gorgeous Mt. Rainier for sight seeing and hiking during the warm months and Crystal Mountain for winter sports. Getting AroundNo public transportation on our street. If you like fishing you can do so from a boat or canoe (you can get a fishing license at Walmart or Fred Meyer in Bonney Lake). Also, there is a nice public golf course less than 8 minutes from us (on Tapps Island). We are not far from Crystal Mountain ski resort. Great place for winter sports Restaurants, stores and supermarkets are also 10 minutes away.

The SpaceThis unit itself is super neat. Finished very professionally with granite counter tops, full bath, very private, and a fun loft to snuggle and sleep comfortably in (FYI- The loft is ~5'4" tall). The area is even COOLER as its near TONS of activities close by including biking, hiking, rafting, fishing, golfing, ( .2 miles away!) perusing Orting, Mt Rainier tours, and skiing and snowboarding just to name a few. Guest AccessGuests have access to the mother in law loft apartment only, unless we're home and invite you into our home (which is likely anyway haha). You also have direct access to the Carbon River, and a trail that runs from our house to downtown Orting right along the Carbon River the whole time. Interaction with GuestsWe leave interaction completely up to you. If we're around and you want to hang out, we'll likely be OK with that. If you'd like to keep to yourself, that's totally okay as well. Whatevers clever! The NeighborhoodIt's quiet. 5 houses, right on the river. Blackberries and apples are fresh in their perspective months, and Orting is just a short way down the road. Seasonal pumpkin patches and christmas tree farms are everywhere! Getting AroundParking is free with us, and you'll either want your car to travel around, a bike, or Uber. Walking is possible, but it'd take awhile to get anywhere. Other Things to NoteDue to the steep staircase up to the loft, we do not recommend staying with small children at this location. The floor at the base of the stairs is stone and there are not any protective railings on the stairs or up in the loft. We are not responsible for any injuries which may occur on these stairs!

Everything was well thought out, though a bit claustrophobic for me, at 6'2". Hard to turn around in the bathroom. The site, though, on the Cowlitz river, really made me wish I'd brought my rod. I will definitely be floating this river in the future. July 2016 · Response from Dean: Let's DO IT Scott! My canoes are yours to use! Tight lines to ya! Dean July 2016 Brandy Great little spot to relax. Tiny home on a cliff overlooking the river - peaceful for sure! Dean and wife were great hosts, left us alone to enjoy our time. We had some issues with the toilet which weren't until the last day of our stay and Dean even offered a refund due to the inconvenience - we did not accept that because it wasn't a huge issue for us on the last day, but thought it was very nice of him to offer. We did think that the tiny home would be slightly more remote, but it is in a little town and kind of in a neighborhood. We enjoyed our stay. Thanks Dean! July 2016 · Response from Dean: Thank you guys! It was an honor and privilege to have you! July 2016 2 Carmin Dean was the perfect host! He made sure we knew where all the important stuff was and that we had everything we needed. He was available for technical difficulties when they arose and left us alone to enjoy this adorable peaceful tiny home after they were taken care of. The home is equipped with everything you need in the kitchen and was the perfect size for the two of us. The sound of of the river and the water rolling down the flume was like a lullaby at night.
