The SpaceWindy Ridge Retreat sits on a ridge top in Southwest Wisconsin. It is secluded with pasture, woods and fields next to it. It is common to see wildlife while visiting. We have 100 acres to explore from the cabin. This is the place for anyone looking for relaxation. Leave the hustle and bustle, bring your food and enjoy. The cabin does not have running water or electricity, although there is a porta potty, electric outlet and water hydrant outside the cabin. Towels, linens, dishes, chairs, pots and pans, charcoal grill,and utensils are furnished. There is a campfire area with wood provided. You access from a back road to the driveway. There is 100 acres to explore right out the cabin door if you wish. Let us know If you would like to see our horses, beef cattle, chickens, sheep and pot bellied pig on our farm in the area. Class 1 trout streams are within a few miles away and the Wisconsin River is within 6 miles. The Grant river is a short drive for tubing and canoeing. There is a golf course waiting just a few miles from the cabin. There is a lot of sightseeing to do in our area. We check in our guests, make sure they have what they need, show them the boundaries they can explore. If the guest would like to visit our farm or sit down for a chat, we are happy to. If they would like to have privacy, that is what they will find at the cabin. We are located in the driftless area of southwest Wisconsin. Our rolling hills and valleys are beautiful. You will find friendly establishments in our area. Just a few include, cafes, coffee house, supper clubs, bowling alleys, move theatre and shops to visit. We have Amish in our community. They have produce and handmade sales a few miles away. There are local canoe rentals. We are located 75 miles west of Madison, WI The area has state and county highways, along with county roads. Guest AccessFor the safety of the guests and our animals, no one is to go in shut gates or over fences. We have designated areas for you to explore. Just ask. There is 100 acres to explore right out the cabin door. If you would like to see our horses, beef cattle, chickens, sheep and pot bellied pig on our farm that is a half mile away, just let us know and we will be glad to give you a tour. Class 1 trout streams are within a few miles away, the Wisconsin River is within 6 miles and the Grant River is within a short drive . A golf course is waiting just a few miles from the cabin. There is a lot of sightseeing to do in our area. We do allow turkey and deer hunting on our property with an additional fee. Interaction with GuestsWe will be there to check you in, show you hiking areas and then it is up to you if you would like to have more interaction. The SpaceWe are a small property located on our 165 acre 4th generation farm in the breathtaking driftless area of Wisconsin. The Driftless Lodge has 3 floors. Sleeps 9 people and has 3 bathrooms. First floor- kitchen, living room, dining room, bathroom, 2 bedrooms(1st-queen 2nd-queen & twin), tv and movies, books Second floor- 2 bedrooms(3rd-queen 4th-full), bathroom, couch in hall for sitting & reading Third floor- large loft with bathroom, tables to seat 10 people, two recliners, dartboard, tv with movies, games & books Guest AccessFor the safety of the guests and our animals, no one is to go in shut gates or over fences. We have designated areas for you to explore. Just ask. Guests can hike and view wildlife & birds on our property in designated areas, which you will be showed. We require guests to sign a liability waiver. We grow crops which encourage wildlife. Special hunting packages are available(only guests of the Driftless Lodge will be hunting). If no one is checking in the next day, we may allow a late check out. Interaction with GuestsWe will be there to check you in. We can show you areas that you can go for a walk or hike on our 165 acre property. You will see us and our full time tenants come and go on the farm. Muskets & Memories, Class 1 trout streams, Horse Riding, Snowmobiling, Canoeing, Shopping, Fitness Centers, Hiking, State parks, Golfing, House On The Rock, Amish marketplaces, County Fairs, Apple Orchards, Wisconsin River, Public Hunting, Golfing, Bicycling, Winery's and many more activities are located in the beautiful rolling hills and valleys of our area. Guests can view wildlife and bird watch on our property. Getting AroundGolfing, Muskets & Memories, fishing, hiking, hunting, restaurants, shopping, boating, rivers, movie theatre, snowmobiling, Amish marketplaces, are within a 10 minute drive or less. With a short drive you will find 4 state parks, horse riding, Prairie du Chien Rendezvous, The House On The Rock, local winery's, Mississippi River, Gays Mills Apple Festival, and much more. We can help the guest find their way around. They will find a list of area activities in the Driftless Lodge when they check in. Other Things to NoteThe Driftless Lodge is located on our working beef and horse farm. We do have cows, horses, sheep, cats & chickens (guests will have farm fresh eggs), and other farm animals on our property. If guests are interested in viewing the farm animals or learning more about the farm, just let us know! In the Driftless Lodge you will find hand soap, garbage bags, Kleenex, toilet paper, paper towels, a starter of shampoo, coffee, laundry soap and farm fresh chicken eggs. The Den is located on the ground level of the cabin. It has its own space.

The SpaceThe Den has a western décor. It is cozy and affordable for up to four people. Why stay in a hotel when you can bring your food and enjoy some time in the beautiful country of southwest Wisconsin. Books and games are in The Den for your use. Bikers welcome. Towels and linens are provided. Full Kitchen with utensils and cookware. The Den is located below The Driftless Lodge. Guest AccessFor the safety of the guests and our animals, no one is to go in shut gates or over fences. We have designated areas for you to explore. Just ask. Private patio and fire pit, hiking and snowshoeing in designated areas on our 170 acre. Interaction with GuestsWe check in our guests. If they would like to hike, chat or have a tour around the farm, they can let us know. Otherwise, we let them have their space. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood offers a lot to see and do. It has some very nice restaurants too. There is a golf course a mile away and disc golf 5.5 miles. Trout streams and the Wisconsin River are near. We have a snowmobile trail that goes thru our property. Check out our guidebook. Some of the information is on there. There is information in the Den for you to look at when you arrive. Getting AroundParking is close to the Den. Other Things to NoteThere may be guests in the Lodge above the Den. Each is a separate unit. Ask about bringing pets.

          The Driftless Lodge is a large furnished cabin located in the unglaciated "Driftless Area" of Southwest Wisconsin on our 4th generation working cattle and horse farm. The Driftless Lodge is fully furnished and decorated cabin. It has four bedrooms (sleeps 9 in beds), three bathrooms and a large loft area, spacious deck with table, chairs and charcoal grill and a private campfire area. The cabin sits on 65 acres and less than a quarter mile away is another 100 acres for exploring. During your stay, you can sit back and relax or see the many sights in our area. There is also, a Grant County snowmobile trail that passes thru our property. The Wisconsin River and Trout streams are within a few miles. We offer deer & turkey hunting packages on our land to our guests. We have also hosted family reunions. Bikers welcome! (garage for bikes) No parties & quiet time is 10 pm. We will ask you to sign a liability waiver and damage contract when you arrive. There are numerous outdoor activities to fit different interests. There is a list in the cabin of places and things to see. Let us know if there are certain things you are looking for. Let us know if you would like a tour of the farm and animals. The Den is located on ground level below the Driftless Lodge which has its own private entrance. We are in a nice quiet country valley 800+ feet away from roads. Your privacy will be respected. Local attractions within 50 miles include historic Mineral Point, Villa Louie at Prairie du Chien, Brewing Museum at Potosi, and the marvelous Smithsonian Mississippi River Museum and Fenelon Elevator in Dubuque. There is a large Amish community here with a bi-weekly flower and produce auction just down the road. They are also several small stands where they sell fresh fruits and produce. Just over the river in Iowa, Pikes Peak towers over the junction of the Wisconsin and Mississippi river. The view from this vantage point, is breathtaking, and exhibits some of the most unique topography in the Midwest. The Driftless area is part of the Mississippi Flyway. Many birds fly over the river in large flocks, going north in spring and south in autumn. The great diversity of the Driftless Wisconsin area means something to suit the taste of every visitor.
