If you wish to dine out you can choose from several restaurants within walking distance and more a few miles away. We welcome you to stay with us and experience all we have to offer! We love the rural, casual lifestyle here and the surrounding Coast Redwood, Douglas Fir, and Oak trees. We have open land with many trees on one side of our home and a part-time neighbor not too close on the other side. It is not uncommon to see and hear wildlife such as birds, frogs, crickets, deer, raccoons, fox, coyotes, squirrels and skunks. Hiking trails and Junction Park at the river are within walking distance. Historic Boulder Creek is where you can enjoy that small town feel yet you are just minutes away from major cities and attractions. We are one of the Bay Area's best kept secrets and experience beautiful weather and fun activities year-round. We were described as one of the "Best Places to Live...and absurdly rural!" in the February 2012 issue of Sunset Magazine. Boulder Creek is a hidden gem in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It is a great place to relax and unwind from the hustle and bustle. Santa Cruz County is ranked #12 of all 3,111 U.S. counties for best Scenery, Natural Amenities & Climate by the U.S.D.A.! We have amazing 350 foot tall Coast Redwood trees, beautiful views, clean air and friendly people. This is the perfect place to enjoy the great outdoors and all it has to offer - without sacrificing comfort. We are right off Bear Creek Road which was listed in "Thirty-One of the World's Most Amazing Roads" to drive list. Attention Wine Lovers! We are located in the 100-year-old Santa Cruz Mountains Appellation which is a world-class wine region. There are dozens of wineries surrounding Boulder Creek. If you enjoy Wine Tasting there are two exceptional wineries just a 15-minute drive from here and dozens more are within a 20-30 minute drive. These wineries are well known for excellent Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays. Byington Winery and David Bruce Winery are just a 10-minute drive, as well as Hallcrest Winery in Felton. They offer wine tasting and picnic areas with spectacular scenery. I have worked in the local wine industry for over 14 years. I am very familiar with many of the wineries and would be happy to share my wine knowledge with guests who are interested. Please drink responsibly. Big Basin State Park, a 15-minute drive away, has been named by Tom Stienstra of the San Francisco Chronicle (in particular the Berry Creek Falls hike) the #1 hiking destination in the greater Bay Area. From the article: “Berry Creek Falls is the No. 1 hiking destination of any park in the greater Bay Area’s nine counties. It’s one of my favorite spots in the world. I try to hike it every year in the spring for a personal birthday present.” It is the oldest state park in California and has Redwood trees as high as 350 feet tall! Big Basin was recently featured in Sunset Magazine's August 2015 article, "The West's Best State Parks". It has beautiful hiking trails, waterfalls and giant Coast Redwoods which are only found in a few specific coastal regions from Central California to Southern Oregon. There is a spectacular coastline just a 25-minute scenic drive away. I can suggest some of my favorite local beaches which are less crowded as well as hiking trails with incredible scenery. If GOLF is your sport, Boulder Creek Golf & Country Club is just an 8-minute drive from here, 3.7 miles away at Hilton Dr & Big Basin Way. The Boulder Creek course offers a challenging 18-hole par 65 Executive Golf Course. If you love playing TENNIS there are beautiful tennis courts a 10-minute drive away (4.8 miles) at Highlands Park on Highway 9 in Ben Lomond. Getting AroundWe're a 5-minute walk to town and the bus stop. Local taxi services and Uber are also available. We are conveniently located halfway between Monterey Bay and San Francisco. It is for the separate Studio Apartment which is the first floor of the house - as pictured. This home has a short but steep driveway to walk up & down from the street parking spot to the studio entrance and the bathroom is up a flight of stairs from inside the studio. If you are physically challenged, elderly, or have trouble walking up & down stairs or hills, this may not be the place for you. This home is surrounded by some very tall and beautiful Redwood & Douglas Fir trees.
