The SpaceWelcome home! My lovely renovated cottage in Hamilton, Brisbane is located one street from the beautiful Brisbane River and only minutes from the CBD - take a bus or cruise on a CityCat along the river. We have polished wooden floors throughout the cottage, a spacious tiled bathroom with an extra large shower, gas cooking and a bbq. A huge deck looks over an equally large backyard with a view of the hills surrounding Hamilton. Make yourself at home in the comfortable sitting room where you will find a wide variety of books on subjects from physics and philosophy to Enid Blyton's childrens books. Are you a musician? We have a beautiful upright piano! Transfers: If you're arriving at the airport and would like to be picked up, just add an additional $10 to your payment and I will collect you. Let me know the times first and I will confirm availability. A taxi cab from the airport to my house is approx $32. Let me know if you would like to be picked up from another destination.     The SpaceThe apartment is industrial/warehouse style, with the living area and kitchen flowing onto the balcony. The furniture is modern and comfortable, and there are great cross breezes, which keeps the apartment cool in summer. It is on the top floor (second) with views of the heritage listed St Patrick's church. Guest AccessThe room on offer is a good sized bedroom with a queen bed. The bathroom with a bath and shower is next to the room (not en-suite), and the toilet is separate and a little further away near the living room. There is a large built in wardrobe, and the half wall of glass sliding doors slide all the way back to give the room a spacious, breezy feel. The living area has comfortable couches, and a TV and DVD player if you decide to have a quiet night in. The kitchen is small, but well equipped. If there is a group of you, I can accommodate extra guests. There is a double bed in a separate room, and a hotel-quality folding single bed which can be used in either room. The second room is off the living room, and is internal. It can also be made part of your booking. Although I've limited the number of guests to 5, I'm happy to discuss your requirements if you have a larger group. The price for two people is based on sharing one bed, but if you would like to sleep in separate beds I can arrange this for a $20 per night fee. (If you want to book with this option, please send an enquiry and I'll send a pre-approval with the adjusted price.) If there is just two people, but you both want your own bedroom, please book for 3 guests and then you will automatically get two rooms. Interaction with GuestsI'm not home that much but I'm happy to give you advice on things to see and do locally, around Brisbane or the Gold and Sunshine Coasts or even a little further inland. The NeighborhoodThe James St precinct is a stylish neighbourhood packed with designer stores, quality restaurants, and good cafes. Some of the best coffee in Brisbane is a short walk away! The apartment is also close to Brisbane entertainment precinct of Fortitude Valley, but outside of the amplified music exemption zone so club noise is not an issue. All Valley venues such as Family, The Met, Cloudland, Sixes and Sevens, Number 29, and The Beat are a 5-10 minute walk. The Brunswick Central shops are close by, and IGA supermarket is a few streets away, with ALDI, Coles and Woolworths a little further. *Note: please do your own street view search - the view showing is quite wrong, a few streets away. Getting AroundGetting around is easy in the Valley. BY BUS The buses on Brunswick St, about 3 minutes' walk from the apartment, go to the city and Southbank, where you can transfer to every bus line that services Brisbane. The Glider bus on Ann St is a 24/7 service going from Teneriffe to West End, and the nearest stop is 5-10 minutes' walk. BY TRAIN Fortitude Valley train station has all Brisbane train lines transiting through it, including the train from the airport, and is about 10-15 minutes' walk. ON FOOT If you like to walk, there are plenty of places you can get to in under an hour. For example: CBD - 25-30 minutes Southbank - 40 minutes New Farm Park - 20 minutes Judith Wright Centre - 5 minutes Riverwalk - 10 minutes Powerhouse - 25 minutes Other Things to NoteThere is a sauna and a plunge pool in the common area of the building which you are welcome to use during the posted opening hours. (Please keep noise in these areas to a minimum as a courtesy to other residents.) There is no secure parking readily available, but there is limited visitor parking, and I have a permit to park in the local streets for free which you can borrow to put in your car window. If you need secure parking, I may be able to arrange this with advance notice, but it will be 10-15 minutes' walk from the apartment.

    The SpaceThe whole apartment has a spacious, open feeling, with high ceilings and an open plan kitchen and living area. Two large folding doors lead out to a large courtyard which has a barbecue and plenty of seating. There is one cat, who wanders around the entire house, so you must be cat friendly. I keep him out of the bedrooms so they are relatively fur-free, but if you are allergic to cats, this may not be the place for you. Guest AccessYou will have a bright, airy room upstairs with a double bed. Being in the heart of the Valley, this room gets some music noise from the outside (usually only at the weekends), but it's not loud, and with the windows shut, it's not a problem. You are welcome to use the well-equipped kitchen and the barbecue in the courtyard. There is a large flat-screen TV in the living area, with plenty of comfortable seating. The bathroom is shared with other guests. Interaction with GuestsWe are happy to socialise with our guests, but equally happy to respect your privacy. We can give you tips on local amenities, how to get around, and things to do in Brisbane. The NeighborhoodThe Valley is the dedicated entertainment precinct of Brisbane, well known for its variety of restaurants, clubs, and music venues. There are small, funky boutiques and many amenities in the immediate area, with Chinatown next door. The apartment is a short walk to the premium shopping in the James St precinct, twenty minutes from the lovely New Farm Park on the river. It is ten minutes by bus/train to Southbank, and Brisbane Central train station is one stop away. You may also walk to Southbank and the city centre, it takes about thirty and twenty minutes respectively. For those visiting the Royal Brisbane Hospital or the RNA Showgrounds, it is about fifteen minutes' walk, or a short bus ride or drive if you have a car. Getting AroundFortitude Valley train station hosts every Brisbane train line, including the train from the airport, and is two minutes' walk from the apartment. The Valley is one of Brisbane's major bus interchanges, with all buses a short walk from the apartment. Other Things to NoteThere is a strict limit of two guests per room. Once you have booked, please read the detailed instructions on how to get to my building and gain entrance.     The SpaceOur apartment is always kept very tidy, has an incredibly comfortable, new queen size mattress, the best couch for curling up with glass of red and a movie/ book, a washing machine/ dryer, modern kitchen w/ gas cooktop and dishwasher, and Wifi. Guest AccessYou will have full access to the apartment. Once issued with the front door key and the swipe for the elevator/ front door (after 6pm and before 9am you'll need it) you will be able to access the pool on the 1st floor and the gym on the 2nd floor. There is guest parking under our building. Interaction with GuestsYou will have 100% privacy. You will only see us when we meet to pass along the keys. The NeighborhoodFortitude Valley is smack in the middle of everywhere you want to be. New Farm's James Street is a 2 minute walk. There, you'll find a cinema, tons of cute restaurants/ bars, boutique shopping, and a gourmet supermarket. If you walk 5 minutes toward the city you'll hit the Night Club strip and China Town. And you're only a 10 minute walk away from the river and the Storey bridge Getting AroundPublic buses run along Anne Street and the Fortitude Valley train station is only a 5 min walk. We also have two road bikes, which you are welcome to use (we encourage it! there are such fantastic bike paths around here). But if you just want to walk you are so centrally located you can get around without a problem. Other Things to NoteAlthough we have a lap pool in the building you also have access to an olympic size swimming pool only 1 block away. You can just ask for a week pass to "test the facilities" and they'll hook you up with a 7 day free entry pass. If you're here on a Saturday we highly suggest you grab our bikes and ride down James Street to the tip of New Farm (10 min ride), where you can cruise around a super cute farmer's market and grab a German brat or Chinese gyoza for lunch. There are three cinemas close by but we recommend Cinema Six on Brunswick Street. You can sit in bean bags (normal seating too) and order a glass of wine. Love it. There is an IGA one block from us (more affordable than the pricy James Street grocers) and a Chinese yum cha restaurant where you can eat all you want for $20 (1 hour limit). Deal. But if you're feeling like a healthier option you can walk around the corner to Sol, one of our favs. Healthy AND yummy, won't break the bank, and the staff are always super friendly.

The suburb is quiet, safe and well established with character homes and significant buildings. The Centenary pool complex is a short walk through the park opposite and is available for public use. Getting AroundCarrington Manor enjoys a walk score of 93/100. Considers a walker's paradise so daily errands will not require a car and transport score of 98/100 - 8 min walk to trains and bus stop 200m. The NeighborhoodNewstead is a riverside suburb 3km to the CBD and 10km to the airports. The apartment complex, with pool, is a short walk to the "City Cat Ferry" and Cross River Ferry (790m), bus (220m) and train station (750m), linking you to the airport, city and other hotspots such as South Bank, the Valley and the Emporium for many dining options. If you'd prefer to get out and about for as little as $2 per day, the Council's city cycle bike station and river bike path is at the end of our street. Our local plaza, Gasworks, is 8 minutes walk or 2 min drive away if you feel like grabbing some groceries for a home cooked dinner or enjoying the local cafés restaurants, bars and micro breweries. We are more than happy to share the locals view on what to do, where to go and what to eat. A map awaits your arrival. If you'd prefer to get out and about for as little as $2 per day, the Council's city cycle bike station and river bike path is at the end of our street. Our local plaza is 10 minutes walk or 2 min drive away if you feel like grabbing some groceries for a home cooked dinner or enjoying the local cafés restaurants, bars and breweries. The building connects directly to the Fortitude Valley train station and is literally on the doorstep of the bustling Valley, with dozens of bars, restaurants and coffee shops within a 2 minute walk. Walking distance to CBD, China Town, New Farm, and trendy James St districts. Despite this, it's an extremely quiet and private location. Please note, this is a one bedroom apartment with a queen bed in the bedroom, however there is a comfortable sofa bed in the living room that can be pulled out to a queen bed, to accommodate four people. Unlimited wifi, and netflix running on the TV via Apple TV. Air conditioned with a large balcony with a 6 seater dining table, if you can take the Brisbane heat! This building is an iconic Brisbane site, which has been renovated into apartments. We are travellers ourselves and have tried to set the place up with what we need/like while we are travelling, well equipped for short or long term stays. Guest AccessGuests have swipe card access to the building and full private use of the apartment. Unlimited wireless internet is available for use, and the apartment is set up for casual relaxing as well as visiting the sites, with a dining table on the balcony, for entertaining guests for drinks or dinner. Inside, the TV is wall mounted to kick back and relax. There is a shared roof space which is set up for BBQ's or sunbathing, and has a great view of the Story Bridge and city. Interaction with GuestsNot present during stay, available for advice or anything of that nature, but after the key exchange you will not see me unless you request so. Totally available for a chat, but understand a lot of people value their personal space and holiday time. The NeighborhoodEverything! The Valley is a cultural centre of Brisbane, everything is here! Food, drink, entertainment - movie theatres within walking distance, amazing live music, art galleries. It's also one of the few train stations in Brisbane that every line stops at, so it's quick to get to and from any other part of Brisbane on the train, which is right next to the apartment block. New bakery lane has opened right on our block, full of trendy shops and coffee shops. Getting AroundClose to heaps of public transport options, and the train station is available directly from the building - you don't even need to step a foot outside to board a train. Trains leave to the CBD (3 minute trip) every 5 minutes. Bus stop directly outside also, and taxi rank. Other Things to NoteThere is no car park included in this accommodation, however, if required you are able to rent a space directly opposite the building (accessible via walkbridge from the building directly) from secure parking. If you would like information about prices, you can look these up on Secure parkings website - the car park name is 'McWhirters' - there is also a Wilsons car park near by (within 1 block) called Duncan Street carpark.
