Getting AroundUnfortunately, there is not public transportation to where our home is located. We are about 8 miles from Menomonie, a quaint little college town built around a lake. There are great restaurants, antique shops, micro-breweries and a winery very near by.

The SpaceThis cabin has two bedrooms. The master bedroom offers a full bed. The second bedroom offers one twin bed. There is also a full size pull out couch in the living room. The bathroom has a claw foot tub / shower. (Note: The master bed stands quite tall and may be difficult for some to get in. A step stool is available.) Guest AccessFront door key is in lock box on north side of house. Combination will be supplied prior to rental. Full house, yard, lake access. There are two boat launches. One is directly across from Jake's Supper Club (north of the cabin); the second is on the opposite side of the lake, just south of the cabin. Directions available. Direct access to snowmobile trails minutes away. Working wood burning (limited wood supplied) fireplace, dogs allowed. Interaction with GuestsFamily members live nearby and are available to assist, if needed. Phone numbers for the Property Manager & Host are supplied at the property. The NeighborhoodLake access on dead end road off HWY 25. Getting AroundCabin is located 10 minutes north of Menomonie. Nearby attractions: Restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Hiking and biking trails (Hoffman Hills & Red Cedar Trail), Cottage Winery is a 5 min drive, Leinenkugel Brewery Tour in nearby Chippewa Falls, historic Mabel Tainter Theater, summer farmer's market, and lots of local shopping. Other Things to NoteBoat dock available May - October. Use caution on steps near water when dock is stored for winter. Tainter Lake channel may not fully freeze in winter. Lake gets algae in in the summer so the lake is not always clear (July and August are heaviest algae months). Snowmobiling, ice fishing or walking on lake off my property in the winter is not advised.

The SpaceYou will approach the lodge up a 1,000 foot private driveway through the woods. The setting is gorgeous, overlooking a bluff and the scenic Knapp Hills. The main floor includes a gourmet kitchen with 3 electric ovens, 5 burner gas cooktop, 2 sinks, huge butcher block island and granite countetops. The dining area featrues a built in buffet for serving food and snacks. The living room has two couches, a chiropractic massage chair, a second dining set all surrounding the wood fireplace (very easy to operate) and 60" flat TV that is connected to DISH and the DVD player. The sunroom (3 season) features a napping bed to enjoy 3 sides of screens. There is a library, giant mudroom and a stack washer and dryer. The second floor has three suites - all with private bathrooms! The largest has a king bed, a private den with a flat TV and luxurious bathroom with a soaking tub for two and walk in shower. Suite number 2 has a twin over queen bunk and a private bath. Suite 3 has three twin beds and its own private bath. The third floor features Suite 4, with 2 queen beds, a private loft (technically the 4th floor) and a private bath as well. Also on floor 3 is a sitting area and 20 X 20 rec room for your unique needs. Besides the listed beds and bedrooms, there are various inflatable beds plus 3 sofas and a queen bed in the sunroom (a little chilly in the winter though) There is about a 1 mile walking trail around the hilly property through woods and prairie. 105 Gallon water heater. Central Air (2). Wood Fireplace with plenty of firewood. This lodge is less than 1 hour from Minneapolis/St. Paul metro and 10 minutes to Menomonie. Menomonie is a lovely small university town with great theater, dining, night life, bike trails and more. Guest AccessEach party has a unique key code access for the length of your stay. We give your access code the day before your check in date. We have some closets and cabinets closed off for personal belongings. Otherwise, the place is yours to use. If you have a question about something you can text or call me at any time. Interaction with GuestsYou will have my personal mobile number to call or text with any questions. The NeighborhoodThe lodge is in a rural area of farms and maple syrup producers. You will be 7 minutes from the charming small college town of Menomonie. We have many booklets and brochures of the many great places to visit in Menomonie. Getting AroundNo public transportation. Other Things to NoteThe lodge is close to bike trails, snowmobile trails, UW Stout, Cottage Winery and more. You will receive by email our house Manual within a couple days of check in. This Manual details much about our property and also lists our favorite hot spots in the area.

The NeighborhoodNearby attractions: Otter Creek Oak Barrens State Natural Area, Tainter Lake, Lake Menomin, Menomonie Movie Theater, historic downtown Menomonie, UW-Stout, Red Cedar State Trail Getting Around30 minutes to Menomonie, 45 minutes from Eau Claire and River Falls, 1 hour to the Twin Cities. Other Things to NoteCell phone reception can be spotty. There is no land line set up at the house currently. If you spend time outside on the farm or in the woods, please be sure to check for ticks after you come in!

Take in a winery or brewery tour, bike or hike the Red Cedar Trail, access snowmobile trails directly out the cabin's front door, or boat, kayak or canoe in one of the several lakes in the area.

The SpaceThis vintage 1930's log cabin has been beautifully restored with a newly remodeled kitchen fully equipped with a dish washer, granite counters and new stove. The bathroom offers a walk in shower. The LR fireplace has been converted to gas. The bedroom (with a full size bed) has a small gas fireplace, offering a warm and cozy setting when the weather dips. The cabin is a calm retreat, offering a lovely setting off the lake. Guest AccessGuests have access to Tainter Lake and a shared dock. Parking available. Interaction with GuestsThe owners live next door. Easy key hand off. The NeighborhoodOur cabin is situated among several other log cabins on a dead end street. The neighborhood is quiet and dogs typically roam without leashes. Getting AroundGreat for biking and hiking local trails. (Hoffman Hills, Red Cedar Trail). Canoe or kayak the Red Cedar River or Tainter Lake. Easy access to snowmobile trails. * Tainter Lake gets algae in the summer (July and August are the heaviest months). * The lake channel may not fully freeze in the winter. It is not advised to walk on the lake in the winter. * Lake access is limited. The walkway to the lake is not fully cleared. Take caution if you walk behind the cabin to the lake. Take caution on back porch steps - no railing. * You may use the owner's dock (next door) but there may not be room to dock a motorized boat. Other Things to NoteThis is a one bedroom - perfect for a couple. The couch is not a pull-out but a young child could be accommodated.

Nestled among pine trees on two lots, this cottage takes you back to the quiet serene life on Tainter Lake, Dunn County, Wisconsin. Setting above the lake, gives you a calm feeling of complete restfulness. Sitting on the deck overlooking the lake, fishing from the dock or your boat, or canoeing 2 rivers will set the tone for the easy everyday life on Tainter Lake. In the evening enjoy a gathering around the fire pit roasting marshmallows for your s'mores. The cabin itself will take you back to the vacations of the 1950's. Two bedrooms with knotty pine walls and having 2 single beds in one and the "master" with a double bed overlooking the lake. The living/dining room has knotty pine walls giving the cozy feeling. After an evening of cards, walk onto a large screened porch overlooking the lake.
