The SpacePrivate, clean and quiet private bedroom located out in the country. Full, private bathroom adjacent to bedroom. Air conditioning. Good wifi! There are tons of natural springs in the area, including Ichetucknee Springs and river tubing just 15 minutes away, Little River Springs, Peacock Springs, Royal Springs, Troy Springs etc. The nearest restaurants and stores are 20+ minutes away. You will have 24 hour access to the kitchen, bathroom, living room etc. Plenty of parking. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE FOLLOWING: 1) We live in the country so while we are close to the state parks and springs, the closest restaurant and grocery store are 20 minutes away. Most guests don't find this a huge problem but we want to make sure you are aware of how large and spread out the state of Florida can be, especially northern Florida. It might be a good idea to stop for dinner on your way in. 2) The roads can be quite dark at nighttime. The roads leading to our house are completely paved. Cell service can be limited. A GPS would be a good idea. We're remote but the roads are flat and straight so it's fairly easy to navigate. 3) It's Florida - there are mosquitoes and spiders and crickets outside and we do our best to keep them out there but sometimes they manage to get in. It's also very hot outside in the summer (July/August). We have A/C in the bedrooms so feel free to use it as much as you need. We keep the rest of the house cool relative to outside, but not super cold. It's very pleasant here in the fall/spring/winter. We usually stay up pretty late and we both work from home on a flex schedule so we will be up when you arrive :) Guest Access- Your own room and bathroom (very rarely may have to share bathroom if our other room is booked but there's another in the master bedroom you can use just in case!) - FREE towels! - Good Wifi throughout the entire house - You have access to the kitchen, pots, pans, utensils, stove, microwave etc. for cooking meals and some space in the refrigerator - Feel free to use our living room and our indoor hammock - We can set up the projector if you want to watch some Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime on the big wall in our living room (feels like a movie theater!) - Just ask! - We have a washer you can use, but clothes will have to be hung up outside on the clothesline since we don't have a dryer. - FREE tea, coffee, hot cocoa in the morning! Interaction with GuestsWe are usually home during the day working in and around the house. We are friendly and happy to make conversation but we respect people's desire for privacy. We can direct you to the Ichetucknee Springs just a few miles away. I put together a thorough guide to local springs, parks, restaurants, blueberry U-Pick etc.! We have a large garden and many fruit trees. Hopefully we'll have some fresh fruit in the coming years. Of course, if you're just passing through and need a place to crash, just let us know and we'll stay out of your way completely and give you space. The NeighborhoodQuiet and peaceful farm community. *20 minutes to Lake City (Walmart, grocery, restaurants) *50 minutes to Gainesville (University, hiking, farmers market, shopping etc.) *10-20 minutes to several natural springs state parks including Ichetucknee Springs, and the Suwannee River State Park (boating, canoeing, kayaking, (paddling), hiking, etc). *20 minutes minutes away from "Spirit of Suwannee Music Park Camp Grounds" (concerts and festivals) *Bars/clubs are limited. There is a hookah bar in Lake City and a few sports bars (20 min away), and live music at the Great Outdoors restaurant in High Springs (30 min away), but you would probably have to drive an hour to Gainesville for the typical party scene. Getting AroundYou will need a car to get anywhere. A couple parks/springs are bike-able. As mentioned above, the nearest restaurant/grocery stores are 20 min away by car. Please consider this when planning your trip, especially if you'll be here for multiple days. There are tons of restaurants if you are willing to drive up to Lake City or Live Oak and couple closer ones (Subway, Hardee's etc.) in Branford about a 15 min drive. This lovely house is more than a house; it’s a family vacation home. The minute you walk in, you will feel it. This home has more accommodations then you are used to seeing in a rental. We want you to have the same experience as we do each and every time we spend time there. The downstairs has beautiful wood floors with the exception of the bedrooms, those rooms are carpeted. There are 2 air conditioners; one for upstairs and one downstairs, this helps keep the house very comfortable. Ceiling fans are in every room, 3 in the vaulted ceiling living area. We have overhead lighting in all the rooms along with lamps. House has a water softener along with filtration system. The heart of the home seems to be the kitchen and dining area. This kitchen has everything you could possibly need including; food processor, blender, mixer, several electric skillets and many gadgets to help make food prep easy, so you’ll have more time to play. The kitchen is equipped with a trash compactor that can hold several days’ worth of trash. This helps with the trash emptying chore. There is a large ice maker built into the center island which helps when you’re packing those coolers to spend the day down on the dock or out on the river. When you return from your day at play, your ice is replenished. This is truly one of the favorites of the home. The dining room has a large wooden table that seats up to 8 and additional 4 can sit at the bar. This table has hosted many meals, conversations and game nights with friends and family. This is the center of the home and the heart of it too. The living room has leather sofas and a couple chairs along with 2 bean bags for lounging around. For your entertainment pleasure there is a wide screen TV, satellite dish, DVD player, stereo with surround sound and internet. There is a landline phone. There is an extra-large DVD library. The center of the living area has a beautiful wood burning fireplace which is special during those cold winter nights. There is a guest bath off the living room and it’s equipped with an “old fashioned claw foot tub”, sink and toilet. The two downstairs bedrooms have king size beds with extra linens, pillows and blankets. Each bedroom has a TV and the “blue” room has a gaming system along with games. There are 3 air mattresses and the rooms provide plenty of floor space to use them. The two bedrooms share a fully equipped bathroom that has a bathtub/shower combo, large vanity, sink and toilet. There are plenty of towels and wash cloths and a blow dryer. In the closet you’ll find plenty of family fun board games to entertain the entire family. The Master suite upstairs is exactly that, a SUITE. This is one of those “must see to believe rooms” This room has a king size bed that looks small in comparison to the size of the room. There is a sitting area that includes a couch and three recliners. There is a large screen TV with DVD player. This room has plenty of floor space to sleep several people comfortably on air mattresses. The master bath is elegant for a house in the middle of the woods. It has an extra-large walk in shower, large garden tub, large vanity and a separate toilet room. Several people can be getting ready in this large bathroom and have plenty of space. . When you wake up in the morning and walk through those double doors to head down stairs, you have a beautiful view from the extra-large windows; of the river and the tops of the trees. It’s truly amazing. It’s a beautiful way to start your day. The outside of the house has a breathtaking view of the river and trees. Underneath the house is a concrete slab with a extra large picnic table, wooden swing and patio chairs. A sidewalk leads to the outdoor shower that is a "favorite" by ALL guests. It's totally private and large enough to hang your towel and clothes without getting wet. There is a bench in it as well. There's something about showering and looking up at the beautiful sky and trees. The sidewalk also leads down to the dock where the real fun begins. Whether you plan to play around in the water or take your water craft out, there is plenty of room for it all. Kids have been running and jumping from this dock for 27 years (not really , this dock was rebuilt and made bigger about 7 years ago) you get my point. Plenty of room to tie up several water crafts. Depending on the river height sometimes we even have a beach. Their is plenty of yard to get a family softball game going or a number of other lawn games that are available on site. Or, you may just want to lay in the hammock and soak in the beauty and listen to the occasional boat go by. There is something for everyone. For the furry family members there is plenty of nice maintained dirt roads to walk and explore. Our house is in a nice friendly neighborhood where you don't have to see anyone if you don't want or you can stroll the roads and pick up a friendly conversation with some of the locals. The boat ramp is a 1/2 mile down the road and makes for an enjoyable stroll. I hope I have painted an image in your mind that you find too irresistible to pass up, you won't be disappointed, I guarantee it!
