The SpaceNote: I don't mind hosting new members of the airbnb community, but I do require anyone requesting to stay at my home to have a completed profile (this includes a photo...I'd like to learn about who you are). This room with a porch in a 1913 building overlooks an urban farm. It offers amenities for rest, study, and contemplation (desk, bed, lamps etc.) A hop, skip, and a jump down a golden hall takes you to the common rooms. Don't expect new and shiny in this historical district. Think of old fashioned parlor rooms with crown molding and distressed wood; and a long snaking labyrinthine space overlooking Rockefeller Park. It's a dark country road at night so you might wish to take a taxi or call Uber if you don't have a cat. If you like your city with starry nights, deer, raccoon and a yard full of wild greens (town and country) this is for you. Guest AccessGuests are free to use the kitchen and pantry, living room, dining room, sun porch, and bathrooms. The kitchen is well provided with appliances, cookware, dishes. Complimentary coffee/press, tea, cream. Organic, gmo-free. Wi-Fi of course! Interaction with GuestsI am a native Clevelander so i know this area well. I'm available to help make your stay as sweet & painless as I can. The NeighborhoodI appreciate the green walk to museums, parks, restaurants, Barking Spider, Severance Hall, working in the gardens, and being close to the lake and Cultural Gardens. The housing we offer suits those who might enjoy a 1913 building imaginatively re-purposed for hosting visiting writers, artists, composers, and those who love nature. Getting AroundA variety of convenient public transit options flank our block. Perfect for bus lines to downtown Cleveland, or the heights. Easy access to public transportation called Rapid Transit. The bus stops one block away and costs $2.25. Shuttle service and bicycle are other options. Service between Stokes - Windermere Rapid Station and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, via Downtown Cleveland 10: E. 105 Buses travel on East 105th Street, from Dupont Avenue to Woodhill Avenue. They turn onto East 93rd Street. The route ends at Turney Loop. 3: Superior Buses travel from Tower City along Superior Avenue in Cleveland and East Cleveland. Buses turn east on Euclid Avenue. The route ends at the Louis Stokes Station at Windermere in East Cleveland. The location is urban. Please be mindful of coming and going during late hours. I prefer that guests alert us to their schedule so that I can best advise or assist them with their itineraries, or arrange for pick up and drop offs if Uber isn't convenient. Happy to do all I can to make your stay comfortable and worry-free. Other Things to NoteThis is a d-i-y project. This building is also home to 5 other suites, a movie theater, art gallery, and various historic collections.

The SpaceQuiet, beautiful, 2,000 sq. ft. house space. Bed, linen, pillows, desk, funky old lamps, surge protector and enough closet space for two. Hallway so long you feel you need a golf cart to reach living, dining, fully stocked but old/school kitchen . One bathroom has a shower & tub. The other just a bathtub. You choose. Can't vouch for the rest of the world but our building secure. And no, we're not ruining these old wood doors to put a lock in. Your dollars help sustain this d-i-y restoration effort, green space, salon, and visiting writer's program. This 1913 era building is great for those that love old world charm and character. It is not ideal for fussy individuals seeking shiny new housing and perfection. This project is a labor of LOVE imaginatively re-purposed for scholars, artists, healer physicians, composers and change-agents such as yourself. Note: We enjoy hosting new members of the airbnb community, however it's only fair that individuals interested in staying in our suite also provide a more complete profile which will help me learn about who you are also. Please include a photo. Also, due to space limitations we require that you book within 24hours after pre-approval. Thanks! Guest AccessYou enjoy kitchen (everything one might need for basic cooking), pantry, dining space, kitchen, living room, and front porch privileges. Gently used odds and ends reflect various periods, cultures, ways of making. Please post your arrival and departure times to the Airbnb message thread once confirmed. Interaction with GuestsTo the extent that I or other staff are around, and have free time we will be glad to help orient you to the area and tell you about some of our favorite locales, answer questions, provide directions, assist with luggage, maybe even share a meal. Management office is the first door on the right. I am in and out of the premises taking care of things, looking over guests. Please consider leaving your shoes at the door. Snuggles might be washed just for your feet. I will not venture into your space except upon request or in an emergency. We DO NOT provide locks on bedroom doors (in the event we might require access for safety and emergency considerations). Warning: Our day of rest: We will not respond to inquiries airbnb between 2pm Saturday and Monday at 9:30am. Or from 8pm to 9am daily. The NeighborhoodThe gothic East Boulevard Historic District architecture mirrors my age and attitude. University Circle and Uptown, Cleveland Museum of Art and Severance Hall are easily accessible jewels s quick 15 minute walk. So is Barking Spider with free acoustic music and Great lakes beer. Albatross, the Falafel cafe, Algebra Cafe, Crop & the Happy Dog. Little Italy, Cultural Gardens, Indian Flame, Constantino's and museum cafes are walkable. Cleveland's "United Nations in stone" commences one block away. Walts, a mom & pop mini Walmart holds down the corner at East 105. Several farmers market opportunities and CSA opportunities pop up in the springtime. So does our garden Let it Bee. The 1913 building yields six suites of the same quality, size and footprint in a quiet building with many stories to tell. There are 2 baths (one with shower, the other a solo claw foot tub. Kitchen/pantry, dining and living room are at the far end of the apartment, opposite the back bedrooms. The building is a quiet cloister for contemplation, rest and study. Each room contains bedding, chest of drawers, closets, linen, lamps and chairs. The front porch floats in the arms of a stately oak tree. Our building is a work in progress, we bees are busy improving our hives to keep this building alive until a handsome princess, prince or combination of the above pulls up to save it and ourselves from collapse. So we appreciate your patience if everything isn't "just so"... Especially when we are busy on all levels and the stairs testify to the nature of the materials in use. Note: A complete profile or a few interesting details about who you are, what you do, your passions and interest will help me learn about who you are also. Don't forget to include a photo. Guest Access You enjoy access to kitchen, cooking supplies, dining/living room, and porch/study areas. Gently used odds and ends fill this eclectic space. Please post your arrival and departure times to the Airbnb message thread once confirmed. This allows us have a general idea of when to expect your arrival. Getting around To the extent that I or other staff are around, and have free time we will be glad to help orient you to the area, provide directions, or even pick you up from the airport or train station if convenient. Interaction with Guests We are always around. To the extent that I or other staff are around, and have free time we will be glad to help orient you to the area, assist with luggage, maybe even share a meal or help you stock up on necessities. The Neighborhood Our place is sought by artist, students, physicians, naturalists and scholars seeking a space to work on manuscripts, doctoral thesis and the like. The closest food store, Constantino's, is a 20 min walk away at the most (we delight in the West Side Market). There is a fresh market stand at the intersection of Euclid & 118th, not far from Indian Flame, Mitchell's Ice Cream, Crop, and other eateries. Follow Rockefeller Park across the street north thru the Cultural Gardens until you meet Lake Erie's shoreline. Or head south to the museums, refresh amid live music at Barking Spider or Severance Hall. The east side of Cleveland has beauty and recreational space but there is also decay and decapitated houses and streets where wealth fails to trickle down. Cleveland, has an award winning transportation hub but most city residents rely on cars. That may give solitary walkers the feel of being a deer in headlights. And there are plenty of deer (why we no longer have a thriving garden). And raccoons, hedgehogs, coyotes, bats, and more. In the city one can also come across the occasional human opportunist looking for a chance to steal someone's joy (or cellular toys) so its best not to walk around displaying iphones & related gadgets that look enticing to those who may crave access to social media but can't afford it. It pays to be mindful and alert everywhere. And from time to time one can also hear, anywhere within a square mile, the percussive, whizzing sound of revelers, or less benign individuals exercising their 2nd Amendment rights" because it sounds "fun" to them, or shows off muscles, or worse. Sometimes they are firecrackers; other times more noxious instruments. It wasn't that long ago when a deranged Case Western Reserve University student opened fire in the Peter B. Lewis building (designed by Frank Gehry) the first day it opened. One of the most beloved individuals on campus, Norman Wallace, a first year MBA student, fell and never recovered. Another casualty of the deadly combination of insanity and easily accessible guns. CWRU couldn't guarantee this students safety even with full campus, and University Circle police and security guards. "Safety", similar to health, depends on good PREVENTATIVE strategies, common sense & luck. "Looks safe..." but... The best thing is to, PLAY IT SAFE wherever you travel, at all times. Do not take risks. We who live here know the area, our neighbors, and which way to go. But YOU, dear guest, should take a taxi, call Uber or call us for a ride after dusk settles. The parkland/East Blvd. artery is not that brightly illuminated, from University Circle to the woods across the street (for aesthetic reasons?) so one can see the stars above. We are on the siren route to UH, CCF & the VA campuses (starting one block away). Do not hesitate to call us if need be. Helping others is not an inconvenience. Getting Around One can walk from here to CWRU in 20 minutes, get to CCF by bus #10 (which travels north and south on East 105th) within 10 minutes or less. It's a 5 minute ride to downtown via MLK. Getting AroundPublic transportation to anywhere in Northeast Ohio starts at the corner of Ashbury, 3 minutes away, or Superior Avenue, 5 minutes away. CWRU's free shuttle to RTA's University Circle Rapid Station (Red Line), Little Italy and the "heights" can be accessed by the VA or on Magnolia. We are one block north of the VA campus. A 10-15 minute walk will get you to these links (Circle Line, Commuter Shuttle, and Evening Shuttle). Sign up for Uber or take advantage of UH hospital's street-side bike rentals if you wish. Other Things to NoteIn consideration of our "green" land conservation focus, we advocate growing carbon instead of burning it. Therefore, we are committed to a light carbon footprint/simple living. The building is safe and secure. There are pros and cons with every city. Just be aware of your environment. The building faces a park (Rockefeller Park & Cultural Gardens) with limited illumination. I like the feeling of forest city and seeing the stars at night, but recognize that such darkness can be a discomfort to others. We will help acclimate you to the building environs and neighborhood, RTA stops, and grocery shopping until you find a rhythm of your own. We recognize that one's personal sense of security may be impacted by past experiences, age and mobility, or even perception. We are here to help you feel relaxed and comfortable, not to pass judgement so don't be shy in asking for help to accommodate you better. It helps to be advised of your schedule. And PLEASE SIGN OUR GUEST BOOK!!! Don't be surprised by deer, turkey, red-tail hawks and the occasional coyote. There is a lot of green space in this area but this is still an urban environment. Paying attention to surroundings, not walking while talking on cell phones or leaving valuables in cars helps keep folks honest. Cleveland is not NYC or San Francisco. It is a poor distressed city.

The SpaceGood for one night or an extended stay. Great for graduate school students looking for independent living away from university hustle and bustle. Close to the I-90 highway, which is great for road trips! Cable TV. Spacious rooms. The apt is part of a residential district with SIX ROOMS (two bedrooms, a living room with a large recliner sofa (able to sleep on), business den, bathroom and kitchen). It is also in walking distance from the independent arts district for the east side of Cleveland. Balcony for sun and fresh air in the spring and summer. Great location which is close to downtown and RNC 2016 activities (less than 10 minute drive). Each guest will have access to kitchen with microwave, electric hot plate, towel, hand towel and face towel along with an assortment of natural soap, castile soap shampoo, moisturizer and fragrance oils. The rear door is off limits and for emergency exit only. I will be present on site in a separate apartment. Good people always have good conversations, so expect brief, cordial conversation at minimum! Our immediate neighborhood is in a rebuilding process yet is one block away from the illustrious Village of Bratenahl which features walking and bike paths with a view of the Lake Erie on Lakeshore Blvd. Bus stop is one block away. Rail system is accessible with one bus ride. Though convenient during the week, guests fare much better with an automobile, especially during the weekends and holidays. I am part of a team of neighbors; we are working to improve the gentrification process of the neighborhood. This 100 year old apartment building is a work in progress and is in constant upgrade mode. The funds acquired from your stay goes into making the apartment better for the next guest. If you are looking solely for a cheap place to stay, there are many inns that can accommodate you. Example: If the carpet has a spot or two, it is from the cleaning solution that was used to CLEAN the spot. Once enough funds are collected, new flooring will be installed. This listing is on Airbnb only for the sole purpose of providing you with a clean, spacious and comfortable place to stay with expert culinary suggestions from a native Clevelander, not a local concierge that can only give you locations of hot spots downtown. Please keep that in mind when considering your travel arrangements. **NOTE** The city of Cleveland is different than most other large cities in the USA. Many suburbs are enclosed within Cleveland instead of around the perimeter of the city. If you are looking to be close to downtown, it will either be very expensive for a small amount of space, or a slum that you would not want to visit. This apartment close to a perfect blend since it is right in the center of two distinct neighborhoods: one block to the west is the highway as well as one of the wealthiest villages in Cleveland, while one block east is an urban middle class that work hard each day to make ends meet. Guest AccessEach guest will have access to kitchen with microwave, electric hot plate, towel, hand towel and face towel along with an assortment of natural soap, castile soap shampoo, moisturizer and fragrance oils. Front balcony can be used for outside shade. The rear door is off limits and for emergency exit only. Interaction with GuestsI will be present on site in a separate apartment. Good people always have good conversations, so expect brief, cordial conversation at minimum! Hot spots and eateries are in the guidebook and you can also ask for local pizza delivery! The NeighborhoodThe apartment is right in the center of two distinct neighborhoods: one block to the west is one of the wealthiest villages in Cleveland, while one block east is a rebuilding urban middle class that is full of people that work hard each day to make ends meet. It's part of what makes Cleveland what it is: an old juggernaut that is now working to get out of the underdog status. Our immediate neighborhood is in a rebuilding process yet is one block away from the illustrious Village of Bratenahl which features walking and bike paths with a view of the Lake Erie on Lakeshore Blvd. Our building tenants work to make our home energy efficient with green technology that also lowers harmful electromagnetic frequencies (EMFs). Getting AroundBus stop is one block away. Rail system is accessible with one bus ride. Though convenient during the week, guests fare much better with an automobile, especially during the weekends and holidays. Other Things to NoteI am part of a team of neighbors; we are working to improve the gentrification process of the neighborhood. Fairly quiet residential district; some neighboring homes are vacant (*NOTE* this is Cleveland, which has held the highest foreclosure rate in the country multiple times in the past 10 years). This 100 year old apartment building is a work in progress and is in constant upgrade mode. The funds acquired from your stay goes into making the apartment better for the next guest. If you are looking solely for a cheap place to stay, there are many inns that can accommodate you. Example: If the carpet has a spot or two, it is from the cleaning solution that was used to CLEAN the spot from naive DIY renters. Once enough funds are collected, new carpet will be installed. The SpaceThis unit is huge and brilliantly lit at 2,000 square feet so you'll feel like your floating in color and light. Charming 3rd floor space overlooking a park and a garden. We have preserved many of the original fixings, pantry and closets. Lots of storage space. Part town, part country. We will help orient you to the neighborhood, gardens, University Circle and beyond. It may be green but its still the city so please pay attention to your surroundings, keep your ears and eyes open. Guest AccessGuests have access to living room, dining room, kitchen, pantry, sun room and garden. Kitchen appliances, cookware, dishes, coffee, tea, and the like. Interaction with GuestsI grew up in Cleveland and would be happy to point the way to Cleveland's hidden gems, and to help you get your bearings until you are comfortable. The NeighborhoodWe are within 15 to 20 mins walking distance to the Museum of Art and Natural History, Cultural Gardens, Botanical Gardens, Rockefeller Park, Cleveland Clinic, VA Hospital, Case Western Reserve University. Also close to Uptown shopping district, bars and restaurants. Living in a city is a worthwhile experience yet everything isn't all nice and dandy for everyone. Consider a Tale of 2 Cities (Dickens). There are kind people who exist everywhere and there are not so kind people. Like tourist situations anywhere, survey your surroundings, don't walk around occluded by headphones or talking on cell phones where it looks like the goings get rough (more impoverished). Be alert and you'll be fine. We look out for our guests. Tell us your schedule so we know when to expect you, how late you are coming home. Getting AroundEasy access to public transportation called Rapid Transit. The bus stops one block away and costs $2.25. The bus connects to the trains. Guests can park in front of our building. Other Things to NoteWe will help orient you to the neighborhood, gardens, University Circle and beyond.

The SpacePeople are blown away by the size and dimensions of this space..."It keeps going!" they exclaim as they meander down the long hallway separating private quarters from communal. This is a quiet building with many stories to tell. There are 2 baths. One has a shower, the other a claw foot soaking tub. We keep dark rich coffee, tea, oatmeal, eggs & bread in the kitchen & pantry. The rest is up to you. Each room contains bedding, chest of drawers, closets, linen, lamps and chairs. Guest AccessYou enjoy access to kitchen, & all common areas. Gently used odds and ends fill this eclectic space. Please post your arrival and departure times to the Airbnb message thread once confirmed. This allows us have a general idea of when to expect your arrival. Getting around To the extent that I or other staff are around, and have free time we will be glad to help orient you to the area, provide directions, or even pick you up from the Little Italy RTA stop if convenient. Interaction with GuestsI live on the premises. So do my partners. We look after our guests, secure the building and suites and keep a close watch on our property and surroundings. This building is a lovely creative arts community that will make you feel at home. We'll help you guide you, get you where you need to go, share a bite and good conversation. The NeighborhoodOur place is sought by artist, students, physicians, naturalists and scholars seeking contemplation, rest and study. Constantino's, is a 20 min walk away at the most (we delight in the West Side Market). There is a fresh market stand across the street (May thru October). Indian Flame, Mitchell's Ice Cream, Albatross, and other eateries are within 20 minutes walk. Walt's is the nearby corner store a mere block away. He has been in business for over 40 years. You can get a real neighborhood vibe there, good deli options, beer, chips, the usual industrial food products in a can or freezer and the like. Walt's, half a block away, has basic convenient store needs, beer, chips and a DELI. He has been in business for 40 years—something like a mini Wal[t]mart. If you need simple house or auto wares, he's likely to have it. No fresh produce other than what goes into the sandwiches. Follow Rockefeller Park across the street north thru the Cultural Gardens until you meet Lake Erie's shoreline. Or head south to the museums, refresh amid live music at Barking Spider or Severance Hall. The east side of Cleveland has beauty and recreational space but there is also decay and streets with missing teeth. Lewis building (designed by Frank Gehry) the day it opened. Do please hip us to your basic schedule, comings and going so that we can look out for you. We are the last to go to bed and won't do so until all our sheep are counted in. We walk the night, even in the park, think nothing of coming home from University Circle late at night but we live here, know the area, neighbors and which way to go. We recommend YOU take a taxi, call Uber or us for a ride after dusk settles. Getting AroundOne can walk from here to CWRU in 20 minutes, get to CCF by bus #10 (which travels north and south on East 105th) within 10 minutes or less. It's a 5 minute ride to downtown via MLK. (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) is not the most reliable indicator for navigating the ins & outs of the University Circle area. Ask us and we will help map your journey. Other Things to NoteWe are committed to a light carbon footprint. SIGN OUR GUEST BOOK!!! We delight in a vegetarian household but won't stop you from eating what you like. Chicken and fish are preferred meat option but don't let this "note" prevent you from booking and enjoying your time here. We can't help but wonder if more Ahimsa, recognition of the sentience of all living (or at least more humane/free-range options) will make a more peace loving home for all on this lovely planet. Somewhat of an intentional community here but not quite since we don't desire to impose our preferences on others!

The property is walking distance from the public bus and rail transit system, operated by the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority, also known as RTA. The rail portion is officially called the Cleveland Rapid Transit, but is known by locals as The Rapid. It consists of two light rail lines, known as the Green and Blue Lines (which extend to the east side suburbs), and a heavy rail line, the Red Line (which connects Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and the west side suburbs with Tower City Center downtown and continues to University Circle and beyond). In the late 1990s, RTA added the Waterfont Line, a short track specifically catering to tourists by connecting Tower City Center to the Flats Entertainment District, Cleveland Browns Stadium, Great Lakes Science Center, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Burke Lakefront Airport. In 2008, RTA installed a bus rapid transit line, called the Health Line, which runs along Euclid Avenue, providing a direct route between Cleveland's primary tourist attractions from downtown to University Circle. A $5.50 All-Day Pass is good for unlimited rides on both the trains and the buses. Other Things to NoteThis is a very clean home. The owner takes pride in this property and expects guests to keep rooms clean, tidy and clutter free. The property has a full yard and a barbecue grill on site. This property is protected by home security system.
