The SpaceHi, there are two of us sharing this lovely late 50's house, myself and Dan my housemate. We have two spare rooms, one is a single and the larger one can be a single or twin share or it can become a double for a couple by pushing the beds together. If you choose this option it becomes bigger than a queen size bed so plenty of room to stretch out. The larger room is very quiet and private from the rest of the house. Although we are just within the borders of suburbia, we are not far from the main attractions of Melbourne life and it is very easy to get around from here. Afterwards you can come home to a nice restful environment for chill out time. This is a comfortable house with lots of lovely natural light all year long. I do dog sitting so you can expect to meet one or more dogs around the place. If you miss your dog, this usually means plenty of dog cuddles are available. Around The Area There is a funky little deli and a cafe some Thai restaurants pizza shop and bakery nearby, and a larger main shopping strip with all necessities further down the road with banks, post office, supermarket and more restaurants and cafes. For the food focused, this shopping strip happens to have some rather good continental style Delicatessens and cake shops. A selection of cinemas are within easy access, ranging from art house to mainstream. We are very close to public transport, and 2.5 km to the nearest beach. Bus and tram are a very short walk away. Actually the bus is only 30 seconds away at a leisurely stroll and the tram is about 3 minutes at the same leisurely pace. Transport There are 2 train lines, one can be accessed via a short bus ride and the other also by a 3 minute bus ride or a 15 minute walk. One train will take you into the city centre in 18 minutes via East St Kilda and surrounds. The other will also get you to the city centre in 25 to 30 minutes via a different set of interesting stops. Both pass through South Yarra and Richmond, which are great shopping and dining areas. The tram also takes you into the city centre via St Kilda, and Chapel Street. If you like you can take a train in the opposite direction one goes towards the Mornington Peninsula with many beach stops along the way the other also takes you to a different set of beaches to Sandringham. We have Wifi internet access, but bring your own computer. Free to air TV in the living room, no cable, but who needs it anyway? If you are arriving by car, there is unlimited parking on the street. We also have a washing machine, but prefer not to have a clothes drier for environmental reasons. But! we do have a large clothes line with pegs, and in rainy weather there are clothes horses to dry your clothes indoors. We look forward to meeting you soon!

The SpaceThe bedroom on offer is furnished with a double bed (and we can provide an eggshell memory-foam overlay for a softer sleep!), built-in cupboards/drawers for storage, bedside tables, and a desk and TV if required. The house itself is aged but comfort-wise it most definitely has a very homey and chilled atmosphere to it, with a great ducted-heating system and carpeted bedrooms keeping us warm :) The bathroom and kitchen are spacious and in the lounge-room we have a big TV with an x-box one console and other gaming devices, plus a killer sound system! We love our outdoor area in the back, which has a large lawn, undercover entertaining area, separate laundry and 2nd toilet, and an extra little room that we've put a couch in to use as a chill space. On top of that we have a garage/workshop space, and an elevated porch out the front. There's plenty of street parking, although we also have a long driveway that can fit a few cars. Please don't hesitate to contact us and we will be very happy to provide any information you need :) Guest AccessThe whole house is yours to use just as it is for any other housemate Interaction with GuestsMy name is Nikki, and the other housemate is Callum - Cal works full-time at Flight Centre and also studies international politics part-time, and I'm currently studying a Master of Science (Zoology) at Melbourne Uni. We have just moved in ourselves and are still settling in to our own bedrooms, but the house is already fully furnished and relaxed. We are both chilled and easy-going and are happy to either interact with guests or keep to ourselves if you'd prefer! We do sometimes have visitors over, but again the priority would be your comfort and it's obviously no issue if we have no visitors for such a short time anyway - whatever makes you comfortable. The NeighborhoodOur house is on a quiet street in the south-eastern suburbs with some amazing local bars, restaurants and coffee hotspots to choose from. We've both lived around the area for most of our lives and can recommend plenty of great places to visit, including our favourite local bar 'OnTop', which is essentially a really big family of locals who all get to know each other. Getting AroundThe 64 tram line is at the end of our street (this goes all the way to the city and connects with several other major tram and train routes), and we have a 24-hour IGA mini-mart/petrol station a couple of blocks away for convenience. The closest train station is 'Gardenvale' (roughly 10 minute walk), which takes about 15-20 minutes to reach the city. There's also a large park nearby and a very extensive shopping district (with Melbourne's only 24-hour Coles supermarket) just a few minutes drive/tram away. Other Things to NoteWe are currently still waiting on the new internet company to connect us and hopefully this is completed asap; however, if for some reason it is delayed and you are in need of internet access, I can still organise internet access separately.
