The SpaceYou will love this award winning architectually designed private guest house. Situated on 4 acres (2 hectares), the guest house features Master bedroom with queen double bed, sitting room with dining table and a superior sofa bed with inner-sprung mattress. The bathroom has underfloor heating, and a small kitchen that is equipped with two burner electric hob, microwave and cooking utensils. There is a barbeque in the outside courtyard. Laundry facilities are also available along with Wifi internet. Located on an elevated sight which gives stunning views across the estuary to Nelson City and the surrounding mountains. Close to all amenities and the Able Tasman National Park. Tea and coffee are provided along with all linen and towels. Cot available Guide books and tourist information in bedroom Visit award winning wineries, art galleries and great restaurants. There are a number of very good restaurants five minutes drive away in the village of Mapua. We offer a continental breakfast, and can provide a picnic lunch on request. Relax by the pool after your day exploring. If the tide is right we would be happy to show you the bird life on the estuary from our boat which is moored at the bottom of the property. If you are travelling by car from the North Island, there is a car and passenger ferry between Wellington and Picton which is in the Marlborough Sounds. The drive from Picton to Mapua takes appoximately 2.5 hours (140 km). Traveling West from Nelson, Matahua is the last peninsula on the Waimea Inlet before you reach the village of Mapua. The cottages are 500 metres from the main coastal road that connects Nelson City with Golden Bay and the Abel Tasman National Park (State Highway 60).       Want to be away from it all yet close to everythiing?  Cats Pjamas B&B is situated on 3 acres overlooking the sea and Rabbit Island.  We're 20 min from Nelson airport and 35 min from Abel Tasman National Park.  We're surrounded by award winning wineries, quaint villages, artists and breath taking scenery.  Our roads are low trafficked so it's a great way to explore our region by bike, and we're also close to the Great Taste Trail where you can explore 176 km of our region off road by bike. We cater for triathletes and cyclists, so offer an Endless Pool,small gym with sauna and lockable bike storage. Max' room is our smaller room with a queen bed, ensuite and private deck area and entrance. The tarrif includes 20 mg free wifi, laundry facilities and a hot breakfast served on the deck overlooking the sea.           Rural 4 acre property with a small flock of black sheep, working Border Collie dog and two alpacas on the Waimea Estuary. Guests are welcome to hand feed the sheep and alpacas. Horses graze next door. We look out through the cut between Mapua and Rabbit Island into Tasman Bay. Explore the estuary...a bird watching place of international significance. Kayaks and small sailing boats are available for use at high tides at the bottom of the property. Not another house in sight.             Karaka is a 2 bedroom self-contained cottage situated on the shore of the beautiful Waimea Estuary. The renovated 1950?s cottage accommodates up to 4 people. It has an open-plan living space with large windows, wonderful views, and a fully-equipped kitchen. The master bedroom has a king size bed, the second bedroom has two single beds. The bathroom has a large tiled shower, and opens to a deck with an outdoor bath. The bath is beautiful in the morning with the sun streaming through the trees, amazing on a clear night looking at the stars. There are places to sit outside and catch the sunshine whatever time of day, and a choice of tables for dining al fresco. A large covered verandah and a private garden lead to the estuary shore.               The SpaceOur whole environment is very special as the Department of Conservation recognise the significance of our Manuka Island saying that along with Rabbit Island we are "the jewel in the Waimea Inlet". We have no near neigbours and guests come to look for the rare birds (Banded Rail and Bittern) around the island. It is an ideal base to visit National parks, beautiful trout fishing rivers and cycleways ( just off the end of our drive) Guest AccessWe have 15 acres of ground and paddocks that guests are welcome to walk around. We also have Manuka Island Eco Cottage and we ask Karaka guests to not walk in front of this cottage so they can also have their privacy. Both Graham and Belinda as multi sport enthusiasts are happy to advise of suitable running, mountain biking, kayaking areas. Graham is happy to help with cycle repairs. Interaction with GuestsWhile your hosts Belinda and Graham both work off site part time, they are happy to help with any queries. We give guests their own space but if they would like company they are welcome to come and join us for a wine/beer in the evenings when we are home. We can also advise on great cafes, wineries, restuarants etc. The NeighborhoodIn summer Rabbit Island Coffee container is open a kilometre from end of our driveway- they make super coffee in a paddock. Mapua is a highlight for many of our guests and either drive or use our bikes to cycle their via Rabbit Island and the Tasman Great Taste Cycle Trail and ferry. Getting AroundWe are twenty minutes from Nelson airport but no other public transport is available. We offer a sober driving service up until midnight if required. Other Things to NoteWe have a very friendly old farm dog Blaise who will often come and visit our guests and invite them to throw a ball for him. Don't hesitate to tell him to go away if you don't enjoy dogs. He is very sensitive and obedient and will leave immediately.
