Enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning on the private porch, go snowshoeing around Brule River State Forest in the afternoon, then watch a few movies in the evening with your sweetheart. The SpaceOur house is full log construction, built in the 1880s by the hard-working Finish settlers of the area and is part of an old dairy farm. The property no longer has cows, but was transformed into a wedding and event center in 2013 for our daughter's wedding. Our home has attracted so much admiration over the years that we've now decided to open it to renters. Don't be fooled by the cozy cabin interior! Though you can see the solid logs of the house in the walls and there are stone-encased chimneys, our home has all the modern amenities. We provide a full kitchen stocked with all the utensils you need, an electric fireplace, multiple satellite TVs (with Netflix and BluRay player), carefully maintained gardens, and open wifi network covering the grounds. The NeighborhoodEven though Brule is a town of 600, there's no shortage of things to do. Whether you're drinking coffee on the porch, kayaking the Brule, or shopping in Canal Park, you will never be bored. The Bois Brule ("Burning Wood") River is the best-known river in the Lake Superior watershed. This river is famed especially for its trout fishing, revered for its prolific mayfly and stone fly hatches. The lower river (near Brule, WI) falls 328 feet over 18 miles through the rocky Copper Range region. Here, flashing cascades tumble over rocks and ledges and between steep river bluffs forested with aspen and balsam fir. This makes the Brule especially good for canoeing and kayaking, with a number of available runs that vary from short and flat to longer and more adventurous. Duluth is only 40 minutes from this quiet getaway, and boasts many local shops with unique offerings, as well as a thriving arts and entertainment culture. There are also many top-notch eateries in Duluth. Enjoy Duluth during the day, and relax at the house at night. Other Things to NoteAs we host weddings and other large events from Memorial Day through mid-October, we have plenty of parking for all your guests. We're only 3 miles from the state ATV and snowmobiling trail and about 12 miles from the mouth of the Brule River, so our location is great to park your snowmobile, ATV, or boat right in the yard.

The Lake Superior Barn is a 4,250 sq. foot home with 4 bathrooms and accommodations to easily sleep 20 people in the 6 bedrooms and 15 beds…. It is designed to accommodate multiple families with open bathrooms and individual toilets and showers. The home is just 30 minutes east of Duluth on the sandy south shore of Lake Superior. Lake Superior Barn stands on 320 acres of remote wilderness and sandy beach. The home sits on the south shore of Lake Superior, staring across the lake to the North Shore cities of Duluth and Two Harbors whose lights twinkle in the distance at night. The property is completely surrounded by the Brule River State Forest so there is not another home on the Lake Superior shoreline for miles… Enjoy the secluded sandy beach or walk it like an ocean looking for beach-glass. Listen to the waves crash or swim in the cleanest of all the Great Lakes where the temperature can reach 60 or 70 degrees in the shallow, sandy bottom water. Warm up to a driftwood fire or roast s'mores on the waterfront. Once back to the house, wash the sand off your feet in the outside shower while taking in the 180 degree view of Lake Superior. Enjoy the 1600 sq foot reclaimed deck just outside the beautiful kitchen and a pantry with all the extra ingredients and spices you may have forgotten. Lake Superior Barn has 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and 3 showers built from the reclaimed lumber, steel and nails of 7 turn of the century Minnesota barns. The game room has radiant concrete heat to warm your toes as you play ping pong, video games, shuffle board or lounge on the couch to watch a movie on the Apple TV. The Lake Superior Barn is a unique and rustic experience... there is a TV, but no satellite or cable TV... plenty of cards, books and boardgames! We do have APPLE TV... like a large iPod with movies, TV shows & music. On the 320 acres of forest, there are trails through the woods and bridges over Haukkula Creek that flows the length of the property. Pick raspberries and wild strawberries in the summer or snowshoe the woods and trails in the winter… either way, you will never encounter another person on the private and secluded land. End the day by building a fire while overlooking Lake Superior and watch the summer sun set over the hills of Duluth.
