The SpaceThe Cottage at Springwood is located twelve miles north of Buchanan from Interstate 81, exit #168. It is within an hour drive to Roanoke, Lexington, Natural Bridge, Blacksburg and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We are situated on a rural road and there are no other houses within sight of the house, so it is very quiet and relaxing. Dribble Creek runs through the side yard, adding to the country atmosphere. There are upper and lower front porches and a patio at the rear of the house for enjoying the beautiful surroundings. It is not unusual to see deer or wild turkey in the yard. Croquet can be set up in the side yard. The first floor has a living room, dining room, kitchen with an eating area, one bedroom with twin beds and two bathrooms. The washer and dryer are also located on the first floor. The second floor has a sitting room, master suite with king size bed and private bath with shower and jacuzzi, one bedroom with a double bed and adjoining bath and a third bedroom with twin beds and access to a bath across the hall. There are front and back staircases which make for easy going between floors. Guest AccessYou will have complete access to all areas of the house. Interaction with GuestsWe are the closest residence to the cottage, so if you need us, we're handy, but we don't stop in unless we're needed! The NeighborhoodSecluded. We live in the country because we love the peace and quiet that it offers. There are several vineyards, museums, antique stores, a movie theater in Buchanan (only open certain nights) and the James River that provide activities while you're in the area. We have hosted families that brought children to visit our local colleges-Washington and Lee University, Virginia Military Institute, Roanoke College and our favorite, Virginia Tech. Getting AroundPrivate vehicles required, convenient parking. Other Things to NoteWiFi internet is not available at The Cottage, but IS available 1/2 mile from The Cottage.

The SpaceMy husband and I found a piece of property with one of the most beautiful views we could ever imagine! I am a lover of the outdoors, I love horses, flowers and gardening. My husband is a Master Builder, a real visionary who can create anything. He spends most of his time working on making our homestead both unique and beautiful. With our partnership we feel we've created a little piece of heaven right here in Virginia. Our Bungalow has a clean, crisp feel with cream color tile throughout. It has large trim detail around every window and door and the décor is cool blues, beige, browns and cream colors . A massive hand built queen bunk that is a real treat to see, not to mention how comfortable it is. The room has a microwave, small refrigerator, coffee maker, bar sink. Dishes, and stocked supplies for eating in. A full length wall with massive windows to take in the views, or velour blinds to close and create your mood. Your space has a fire pit outside the yard. You can relax fireside, make smores or even roast some hot dogs the old fashioned way. We supply the fixings at your request. Our pool deck is stamped concrete and river rock is mixed as trim for the pool edge, hot tub is encased with rock and has a waterfall edge to create a relaxing sound to enjoy while enjoying the large pool deck. We have several dining tables with lighted umbrella's and candles for evening dining poolside. Lounge chairs for tanning and soaking up the warm sun, small tables to provide an area for beverages, books or personal items. A large gazebo poolside is furnished with plush cushioned lounge chairs, coffee tables, side tables, and fan and a TV. Upon request exterior speakers can provide music of your choice or even play from your personal Ipod. Our mothers also live on the property and contribute to the success of our homestead. My mother had a real passion for growing flowers everywhere. She works hard around the property to create a lovely visual of different varieties of blooming landscapes. She also works a plentiful garden in which she shares the tasty fresh fruits and veggies it yields. My Mother in Law is a cleaning machine. She is constantly working to make every corner sparkle and shine. Together, we make a team and enjoy sharing our work with those that appreciate it. Guest AccessLounge area, with Pool and Gazebo. We have a Pool table, it is located in the main house for adult use only. You must ask for entry and if we are home, we would be happy to let you in to enjoy a game of pool in our home. Horseback riding on property, if you want to bring your own horses. additional fees for boarding will apply. Biking rentals available with advanced request. River sports can be accessed within a 10 minute drive. They have canoe's and Kayak rentals and will provide transportation to drop off location and pickup if needed. This service is also provided along with tubes at a local River company. Hiking around Ranch or a 20 minute country drive, to the famous Peaks of Otter lodge and Mountain Parkway with scenic views for miles. Also 20 minutes from Natural Bridge, one of the 7 world wonders. You could spend and entire day at this interesting spot. An incredible sight with zoo, dining, hiking up the mountain to an incredible spot that views several surrounding states. Interaction with GuestsMy husband and I are very social and love to interact with our guest. Although, if expressed a quiet stay is appreciated... you will only see us, if needed! The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is mostly our property. If you choose to go for a walk, our extended neighbors are friendly and our area has many horse and cattle farms. You can get a close up view of these animals grazing on the rolling green fields. Its not uncommon to see deer, wild turkey and we've even seen a couple of black bear running in the distance. But, don't worry. They aren't interested in you! If spotted they are running away and we've never had any problems in 20 years here on the Ranch. It's just a pretty cool site! You will take in some of the most incredible views you may ever see in this part of the country! Getting AroundNo public transit in the immediate area. In town bus transit is available if shopping or touring is desired. Car rental at the Roanoke Airport. We are 25 minutes from Roanoke Airport. 30 minutes from downtown Roanoke. 30 Minutes from historical Lexington. 35 minutes from Bedford. We are approximately 5 mile from Interstate 81. It is one room with sleeping capacity for 6. Small but cozy! A hand built Queen bunk bed has quality mattress and bedding. Large bath and Pool towels are available for your stay. If you need anything at all, we will make every attempt to have your request available upon arrival. We love our Ranch and believe it's beauty and unique spread should be shared. My mother is a wonderful Gardner that works to create a floral wonderland. The farms has a small garden with fresh herbs, and veggies. We have a small flock of pinned chickens that we rotate in the garden area.

The SpaceA 1600ish sf fully appointed house on 300 acres of woods bordering The James River. The upstairs has been converted to a high-level recording studio with all the bells and whistles. Guest AccessThe entire house, other than one bedroom. Interaction with GuestsPreferably, I'd like to get the place ready for your stay, leave a key and leave you to it. I'm *always* available for help in advance. If I can do something to make your stay better, please don't be afraid to ask. That said, I'm a very social person who loves to talk and hang out. If you would prefer me to be there to help get you settled, give me a shout. The NeighborhoodThere is no neighborhood. The house sits on about 300 acres of forest, bordering the James River. There's a great landing on the river for your fishing, swimming and chilling needs. The confluence of The James and Craig's Creek is a secret hotspot for muskie (shhhhh.... don't tell) and a great place to throw a kayak, canoe or tube in and float or paddle. Right down the street in Eagle Rock proper is Maw & Paw's diner, which serves one of the best burgers of your life for about $4. There is no nightlife to speak of other than the wildlife which inhabits the mountain. However, there are several nearby stores within 1-3 miles and 2 Grocery stores within 15-20 minutes. Getting AroundThere is room to park several cars, and a loop that is accessible to 4WD and adventurous car owners. The river is just a short walk away. Other Things to NoteSummit Sound is a fully appointed, state of the art recording facility in addition to being a cool house in the woods. Let us know if you'd like to take advantage of those services! Our house engineer has credits on Grammy-winning recordings and years of experience with hundreds of clients and projects. The water is a little funky. We're on a well in an iron heavy area. There is some hydrogen sulfide in the aquifer which has an "odor". This tends to come and go over certain times of the year, and we're working to alleviate this issue. This is naturally occurring and in no way dangerous or unsanitary.
