The SpaceEUREKA is an alternative-style guest house. We bring together the arts, nature, and off-the-beaten-path experiences. We have clean, comfortable guest rooms, a 1200 square foot dance studio, a kitchen, nature trails, and other amenities like an outdoor shower. The retreat is located in a peaceful, authentic rural Maine town a comfortable distance from the touristy areas. The retreat was created and is managed by world renown juggler and touring artist Michael Menes. Guest AccessGuests have access to kitchen facilities, laundry, barbecue, outdoor shower, wifi, and our dance studio. Interaction with GuestsWe try to create an environment in which our guests feel at ease. We are a respectful, friendly couple, enjoying the peaceful surroundings of our retreat. We understand when our guests prefer to be quiet or, at other times, to have polite conversation. The NeighborhoodWe are surrounded by farms, forests, beautiful lakes and lots of fresh air away from the touristy areas, yet not too far from some of the most picturesque destinations in Maine. We are part of a vibrant creative community and a base for exploring off-the-beaten-path adventures. Depending on the season, there are many interesting, down-to-earth, inspiring things to see and do in the area. We recommend the less explored authentic treasures that are often hidden from the typical tourist attractions. Some of these include nearby Celebration Barn Theater, Jack's Greenhouse, Nezinscot Farm, Cooper Spring, Riverside Spa & Sauna, and Historic Paris Hill. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation in our town. You will need a car to get around. We are approximately 1 hour from Portland International Jetport (PWM). Other Things to Note- We offer clean sheets and clean towels. - It is very safe and secure where we are located so you shouldn’t have any problem getting locked in or locked out. - We keep a good supply of fresh drinking water from a natural spring which pushes up from deep under a mountain just a few miles away. (Cooper Spring). - Our guest bathroom is very new and very clean, however, in the summer we highly recommend taking a morning shower outside in our very private outdoor shower. Ask us to lend you a robe. It’s very spa-like. You won’t be sorry! - Don't confuse BUCKFIELD with BUCKSPORT! BUCKSPORT is a town along the coast of Maine. We are located in Oxford County which is an hour inland. - Our private home is not regulated by the State of Maine Department of Health and Human Services and the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

The SpaceThis is a three unit cabin space that is "always a work in progress." The cabin is remote and feels deep up into the woods with a fairly short hike/or 4 wheel drive to the cabin and the Summit of Streaked Mountain, Maine USA. Yet, when up at the cabin, if you get a cabin fever itch, it is easy to hike or drive within 20 minutes to a grocery store or half hour eating in a restaurant/shopping in either a town or a city. The entire cabin has three cooking areas, two futon beds, a single couch, a single pull out sofa bed, a double bed, a loft futon, and a floor mattress in the sunroom; next to a small window- viewing the sunrise and looking all the way across Maine to the Camden/Rockland area. This cabin has a library. The land is an old, farm Homestead known as The Swan Place. Three units description follows: The Eagle Room, upstairs has a queen futon alongside a 7 foot window- also a sunrise room. The double futon is in the upstairs kitchen. (It is the winter time, warm and cozy spot when the Ashley wood stove is burning downstairs under it.) Next to the D futon is the ladder to the Cupula room overlooking Eastern Maine to the Coast and the field below where the Eagles Fly and food can grow. The Eagle room upstairs has a kitchen, Q, D, and 1 Twin for sleeping. The downstair's is insulated with barn board decor, front Hawk Room has the downstair's kitchen area, a single sleeping couch, and two big windows looking out to the South side deck and a footing leading out to West side porch for BBQ. The cabin's backside 3rd unit is the "Rabbit Hole Room." It has a Double bed and kitchen. Adjoining it, The Skye room with loft bed is attached to the Hobbit room by a door. Plus in the Sky room an outside door onto the East side porch for another BBQ. If Trudy stays there: she is in the Rabbit Hole and Sky room with her own private entrance. If you want her to do cooking, she can do that down in the Rabbit Hole's sound proof quarters, separated from you all, who are in the other two sections of the cabin. If cold, she initially runs the wood stove in the downstair's small LR where the twin pull out couch bed can be considered a 5 Th optional bed. Guests have lots of privacy upstairs and down in the front Hawk room (4 beds). This is a unique, funky place away from your daily grind. A quiet space, without outside noise- (no radios playing without headphones, please). The sounds of birds, woods farming, projects and other dudes temporarily playing up on the mountain sometimes with their bicycles or other vehicle to drive up. Sweet place to chill!!! Guest AccessGuests have the upstairs and the front Hawk room: access to 4 beds, 2 cooking stoves and sinks, shared outhouse, grills both wood and gas, firepit, hiking trails and parking (in season only.) Trudy runs the woodstove and anyone can enjoy sitting in the room with the wood stove heat. There is a a fifth bed in that room and a sixth bed in the Skye Room if really needed. Interaction with GuestsI greet my guests...I need to orient my guest to their new and unfamiliar surroundings. I answer questions related to their plans. Cultural matters are always important to communicate about. I absolutely love to have guests! I am totally respectful of guests privacy needs. However, we are in a cabin and the systems of operation are important to have my guidance so that sanitation and safely needs are met. Then you are on your own to enjoy hiking The Mountain's roads, woods, and trails. The NeighborhoodIt is a retreat from the concrete! I love it that there are only animal sounds, with few civilization noises. It is quiet with the russle of leaves, creaking limbs and birds voices come through. My neighbor is a horse farm about a mile down the road a piece. Glamping means " Glamour Camping" Getting AroundNo public transit. Need a 4 wheel drive! Other Things to NoteThis a great place to Hike, ride to on horseback, ATV etc., Fat Bike, Mountain Bike, Motorcycle, or ski, snowshoe, snowmobile when in season. This is a four season cabin rental.
