The Space(Please read full description.) This listing is for light and beautiful pale blue bedroom upstairs that features a large picture window. Our home is an art piece located in heaven close to the fabulous town of Shelburne Falls (worth a web search). There are other listings available in our house. (If you are a group and want to get creative, you can also request our large couch.) Note: the room listed here passes through my husbands small office and most mornings he will need to be in there (as early as 4am) working quietly. Shelburne Falls is home to the Bridge of Flowers, the magnificent geological wonder of the Glacial Potholes, a health food store, an original drugstore ice cream soda counter and many beautiful art galleries. And if this were not enough there are number of wonderful restaurants. The thing about this town is that it is NOT just a tourist town, it is our town, a real town complete with thrift shops, bowling ally and Pothole Pictures, a film series in an old time working theater with an eclectic offering (also worth an online search). You can bring or prepare your meals in our kitchen and bathe here. Though not pristinely clean, our home is tidy and beautiful (we are a working farm and working people.) That said, we are a shoes off household, so bring your slippers if you'd like. Wireless access available. We have one (stunningly beautiful) bathroom which you will share with our family. We are a family with cats, dogs, goats and chickens so expect some possible morning noise and some friendly faces. For those with cat or dog allergies: there are NO cats in the house but there are dogs. Pets with good social sense are welcome pending pre-conversation. Clean up after your kitchen use, please. I am SERVSAFE certified and will love to make you breakfast is I am around for an additional charge. Just give me notice. Pets will be an additional $5. Smoking out doors. Use of laundry for a moderate $3 fee. Be kind to all animals. We are 35 minutes from Northampton, and 45 min from Amherst and 40 min form MassMoca.

The SpaceAs you can see from our stellar reviews - the pond house has been a fantastic, transforming, magical vacation for many people! It is much more than just a rustic get away in the country. It is actually an EXPERIENCE. I will save some of you time right here, by saying this is not for everyone. No electricity. It is screened only. No walls! You will hear animals in the woods. The bathroom is a 2 min walk. No kitchen. No stove. There is an outdoor fire pit. It's glamping! Still interested...? Read on! Oh and if you are planning this as a surprise? I strongly suggest that you KNOW that your partner will love this. I've seen a few surprises not work very well. Glamping is not for everyone! A fire pit (stocked with paper & chopped wood or chop your own! ) a few steps from your door is a great place to hang out and enjoy the feeling of camping - and then you get into a super warm cozy bed with a down comforter, and lots of warm blankets. People arrive from the city and seem transformed the next day, after breathing fresh air all night, and being lulled to sleep by the sounds of nature. This is a step up from camping. It's Glamping! Dogs (that are well behaved! ) are WELCOME! We love dogs and our dog Charlie is a fantastic host. But your dog must get along with other dogs. GLAMPING means - Glamour Camping! And that is just what you are doing when you stay in our beautiful Pond House. Even with cooler temps it's still fantastic and I am more willing to book single nights. Please just ask! I had a family of 5 last year who had booked 2 nights Oct 30, and stayed an extra night! The water in their water bottles was frozen at night. That's how cold it got. They still LOVED it! This amazing screened pond house sleeps 5 or more with a queen bed, single couch bed, and queen futon couch, and we can put out more pads/sleeping bags as well. It does not have a bathroom, but you have the use of a full bathroom & shower in our studio building, a 2 min. walk away. (You might share this bathroom if we have guests in our guest room in the studio building.) It works great to book both rooms so you can leave all your stuff in the studio and not mess up the pond house with stuff. Happy to give discounts for both. Just ask. This gorgeous space is extremely special, some say even magical! Handmade out of Hemlock trees from our woods by my husband - artist Peter Kitchell, the pond house is surrounded by beautiful grasses and trees. The frogs and peepers will lull you to sleep at night, ( if they are too loud we have earplugs! ) and the stargazing is amazing. It is a completely dark sky with no light from nearby towns or cities. Just you, the stars and the planets. There is a row of long linen curtains on one side to give your more privacy, but that really is more for effect & comfort as no one is around to see or bother you. There is no electricity - but plenty of candles! Make a fire outside to roast marshmallows or cook a whole meal, there is a grill over the fire. Recycled paper plates & utensils and a fridge, electric teapot, coffee press, tea &coffee for your use are at the studio bathroom. All you need for the fire is provided. Comfortable warm bedding and towels are provided. Even if it is chilly at night, snuggled in your warm bed you will be just fine! Like camping, this is really for heartier folks. No Wi-Fi or cell service in the pond house! But there is wifi and a land line you can (EMAIL HIDDEN)e to unplug! Board games and cards are great to bring. No nearby transit. Sorry! It's the boonies. You need a car. The 'neighborhood' is very quiet - the peepers at our nearby pond and sounds of the woods will be the only thing you will hear at night. Peter and I are both artists with our home and studios in 3 buildings about a 2 minute walk from the pond house. We are good at respecting our guests privacy but are also happy to chat with you and answer any questions. I've made a great list of places to eat ( includes notes on which are dog friendly & vegan!) If you are a dog person, our dog Charlie will be happy to go for walks with you, and will provide lots of love and affection. It you bring a dog you may not leave it in the pond house while you are gone. This is truly an amazing place. Come check it out! Ashfield about 8 min away. You MUST go to Elmer's for breakfast! The best pancakes in New England. Country Pie for Pizza The Lakehouse - Ashfield - Right on the lake. Great scene at night at the bar or hang on on the deck overlooking the lake. Shelburne Falls is about 12 minutes away. WHERE TO EAT ( fancy and amazing) Gypsy Apple Bistro, 65 Bridge Street, ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN); Blue Rock Restaurant, Sh Falls ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN), SO good. Vegan options. theblu(URL HIDDEN) Mocha Maya’s, ( good coffee) 47 Bridge Street, ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN), (URL HIDDEN) Enjoy the beauty of the woods on our property of 40 acres or the many nearby trails and parks. In the summer swim and sun at Ashfield Lake, check out the Ashfield Farmers market on Saturday, or see amazing summer theater at Double Edge Theater. Guest AccessThe bathroom in the studio building 2 min. walk. A fire pit right outside the pondhouse - for fires and grilling. We live and work here - and appreciate that guests are always respectful of this. We are here should you need anything and are happy to help . The bathroom is downstairs in Peter's studio. Please be respectful of his space and do not wander around. He is happy to give a tour if he has time - just ask! He will be especially happy to show you the new project he's building in the woods! There is a small fridge across from the bathroom for your use. Tea and coffee, utensils & plates. Most guests who plan to cook also bring coolers and whatever else they'd bring on a camping trip, but if you are traveling and don't have anything with you, please tell me and we can make sure you have everything you need. Interaction with GuestsWe welcome you and check in on you. We ask that guests check in before dark but understand sometimes this is not possible. If you have dogs - we will probably see you more as our dog will want to play with your dogs. I have a list of great places to eat for you and a few things to do around here. Please let us know when you leave - we like to hear how it went for you and say goodbye! The NeighborhoodIt's quiet. It's the country. Ashfield is closest town about 8 min away. Sh Falls is about 12 min away. Great site for hikes. (URL HIDDEN) Getting AroundBe sure and print your directions - your cell/gps will probably not work nearby. I will text you my directions. Be sure you've given a cell # in your profile. Other Things to NoteWe need to be here when you 'check in' so communication about time arrival is essential. We are often flexible - but sometimes need to agree on an arrival time and ask that you stick to this and communicate if you are running late. I plan my schedule around meeting you - and just ask that you respect this. If you say you will be here please come here first to check in before going back out to lunch or dinner. New Yorkers! Avoid the traffic getting out of NYC and take the train to New Haven and rent from Avis there! Super easy and less expensive than renting in the city!

The SpaceBREAKING NEWS: Trip Advisor has awarded Cavalier Cottage their 2014 Certificate of Excellence! And for the 2nd consecutive year, the cottage also received two distinguished awards as 'Top Vacation Rental' and 'Rated Excellence' by (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), a division of TripAdvisor. In their own words… 'Congratulations! Based on exceptional guest reviews and an impressive listing, you are being recognized on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN). This honor was awarded to a very select group of vacation rental owners based on reviews from past guests.' Discover Cavalier Cottage B&B, a pet-friendly home away from your home and an attractive alternative to conventional hotels, motels and B&B’s. We warmly welcome visitors who come to this beautiful and diverse area of Western Massachusetts with or without their companion animals. Since opening the cottage in January of 2012, I’ve welcomed more guests than I could possibly have predicted or hoped. It seems that Cavalier Cottage has answered a need for truly pet-friendly accommodations. I could tell you stories about the wonderful four-leggeds who’ve enjoyed country walks here, not to mention their terrific two-legged companions. I could not have imagined that I’d meet such a variety of interesting people when I opened the cottage almost 3 years ago. Nestled at the base of the Charlemont hills and located on a very quiet country road, Cavalier Cottage is spacious, bright and comfortable. The live-in area is simply but graciously appointed, featuring ceiling to floor windows, newly installed oak laminate flooring, a queen size bed with a deluxe plush-firm Simmons mattress, private entrance and private deck. The fully equipped kitchen has an eat-in area with a full size stove and refrigerator (in case you want to cook-in), and a private bathroom. Relax on the private deck and enjoy the country view. For entertainment, you can access Netflix, Amazon, Hulu and Acorn show and movies streaming on the 28 inch flat panel TV, watch DishTV with over 200 channels, or play classic board games. To stay in touch with the outside world, the cottage is equipped with Wi-Fi. Park your car in an enclosed garage if you need to. Amenities also include a delicious Continental breakfast with Pat’s English scones, a small but growing library, and a CD player with a collection of jazz and classical CD’s. Cavalier Cottage is conveniently located to the Mohawk Trail (Route 2) and many outdoor activities: There are great hiking trails, river rafting, tubing, zip line canopy tours, horseback riding, tennis, golf, biking, snow shoeing, rock climbing, downhill and X-country skiing. The beautiful Massachusetts countryside, with its many quaint villages and towns, is also home to a great variety of iconic educational and cultural destinations, including MassMoCa, the Clarke Institute of Art on the Williams College campus, and many more. The area is a four-season vacation destination, from foliage time in the autumn, through ski season into spring hiking time and summer holidays. Time here is sublimely tranquil and peaceful. A few more special features: ~Our guests are now eligible for a 10% discount from Zoar Outdoors (just a few miles from the Cottage) for all their great outdoor activities including the very popular zip line canopy tours, kayaking, white water rafting and rock climbing! ~For dogs (and their human companions, too) who love to swim, we offer a map featuring three wonderful river and lake areas. Please note: As more guests have visited, many potential guests were unable to come because the dates they wanted were already booked. Because Cavalier Cottage can only accommodate one party of guests at a time, we highly recommend that if your desired dates are available, you secure the space by submitting a deposit, in order to avoid disappointment. Cavalier Cottage, a cottage for all seasons, is perfect for week-long vacations, weekend or mid-week getaways, writer’s retreats, house-hunting visits, and temporary lodging for relocated executives. We look forward to continuing to share our cozy and comfortable cottage with guests from around the world. Please feel free to contact us if you have any comments or questions. A very warm greeting awaits all who visit Cavalier Cottage. For many more testimonials for Cavalier Cottage, please visit the (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) site (property #374313). A virtual tour of the property may also be viewed at this same site. BREAKING NEWS: Cavalier Cottage has received, for the 2nd consecutive year, two distinguished awards as 'Top Vacation Rental' and 'Rated Excellence' In their own words… 'Congratulations! Based on exceptional guest reviews and an impressive listing, you are being recognized. This honor was awarded to a very select group of vacation rental owners based on reviews from past guests.' and Certificate of Excellence for 2014. A SPECIAL PLACE Discover Cavalier Cottage B&B, a pet-friendly home away from your home and an attractive alternative to conventional hotels, motels and B&B’s. We warmly welcome visitors who come to this beautiful and diverse area of Western Massachusetts with or without their companion animals. PET-FRIENDLY WAS THE IMPETUS FOR OPENING Since opening the cottage in January of 2012, I’ve welcomed more guests than I could possibly have predicted or hoped. It seems that Cavalier Cottage has answered a need for truly pet-friendly accommodations. I could tell you stories about the wonderful four-leggeds who’ve enjoyed country walks here, not to mention their terrific two-legged companions. I could not have imagined that I’d meet such a variety of interesting people when I opened the cottage this past winter. Nestled at the base of the Charlemont hills and located on a very quiet country road, Cavalier Cottage is spacious, bright and comfortable. The live-in area is simply but graciously appointed, featuring ceiling to floor windows, newly installed oak laminate flooring, a queen size bed with a deluxe Simmons plush-firm mattress, private entrance and private deck. The fully equipped kitchen has an eat-in area with a full size stove and refrigerator (in case you want to cook-in), and a private bathroom. Relax on the private deck and enjoy the country view. For entertainment, you can access Netflix, Amazon, Hulu and Acorn movies & shows, Dish TV with over 200 channels on a 28" flat screen TV, or play classic board games. CENTRAL LOCATION FOR ALL W.MA ATTRACTIONS Cavalier Cottage is conveniently located to the Mohawk Trail (Route 2) and many outdoor activities: There are great hiking trails, river rafting, tubing, zip line canopy tours, horseback riding, tennis, golf, biking, snow shoeing, rock climbing, downhill and X-country skiing. A few more special features: ~A new exclusive cottage amenity: ~Tarot by Paris Now available by appointment: Insightful, intelligent tarot readings by Paris Finley. You can schedule a reading at the cottage for only $35.00. Readings run 30 minutes to an hour. ~Our guests are now eligible for a 10% discount from Zoar Outdoors (just a few miles from the Cottage) for all their great outdoor activities including the very popular zip line canopy tours, kayaking, white water rafting and rock climbing! ~For dogs (and their human companions, too) who love to swim, we offer a map featuring three wonderful river and lake areas. ~Berkshire East ski area, just 15 minutes up Rt. 2 from the cottage, offers our guests $10.00 of each lift pass on a daily basis. Also during ski season the delightful West End Pub in Shelburne Falls provides cottage guests a 10% midweek discount (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) for dinner. Please note: As more guests have visited, many potential guests were unable to come because the dates they wanted were already booked. Because Cavalier Cottage can only accommodate one party of guests at a time, we highly recommend that if your desired dates are available, you secure the space by submitting a deposit (through the cottage website) or by booking it on-line on this site, in order to avoid disappointment. MORE THAN 2… ~ Choice of two 39'x 80' Japanese futon mattresses or an Intex Queen Size airbed with air-filled base, both very comfortable. ~ Children 12 and under stay for free ~ 10% discount to military personnel and senior citizens ~ Payment for a reservation deposit is made via credit card on the Cottage's website via its PayPal account.
