The SpaceOnly 4 miles from Lexington, Washington & Lee & VMI, this cozy 'love nest' is the perfect place to reconnect with self, partner & the natural environment. Spa robes, family style toiletries, very comfortable bed with quality bedding await you. A hayfield sits to the west, a forested sinkhole to the east & an acre of mown meadow to the south. 360 degree views of both mountain ranges from walks on farm. Perfect for 1-2 adults, no children, no pets. The cabin is approximately 300 yards from the next cabin. There are very few lights on the farm making the Milky Way & many stars very visible. Fire flies in the summer are amazing! Guest AccessGuests have walking access to rest of 250 acre property. Across from the entry road is a 7 mile walking/jogging trail along the Maury River & through some pastures with cows. The Blue Ridge Pkway is 8 miles as is an Appalachian Trailhead. Natural Bridge, one of the first seven wonders on the north American continent, is only a short drive. It is requested that guests in the other cabins(4) are not disturbed. There is no hunting by guests on this property. No ATVs/loud vehicles are permitted. Guests should be comfortable with quiet & dark country land. Interaction with GuestsThis cabin is a self catering space. We have no interaction with guests unless requested. We honor your desire for quiet & privacy. You may see or hear the mower on some days or see general maintenance being handled. If you are lucky to be here when the hayfields are being harvested you are in for a treat! The time here is private. We are always available should there be a need. The NeighborhoodWe love the beautiful rolling farmlands of this county. The vistas are stunning, the mountain ranges soft & inviting & this farm is close to many places of interest. Guests will love the views from the hills, the modern day labyrinth on Mount Grace & the 360 degree view from there. It is awesome. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation. A car is a must here. In the case of snowy weather you will want to be driving a car that is fine on a slight grade of dirt & gravel. We have the farm roads plowed if the snow is more than a few inches. The county plows the roads soon after heavy snowfalls though you will want to give us a call for updates. We rent all year & winter offers a special quiet that many love. A car really is a necessary unless, of course, someone delivers you & you do not need to leave the farm before being picked up. Other Things to NoteNOTE: 12% taxes are included in the quoted pricing making this a discounted rate from our website listing. Guests need to be comfortable with the dark & the country. One can often see the Milky Way without interference from city lights! We do our best to be good country neighbors & 'keep the country in the country' by asking that all outdoor lights be turned off at night. Bring a good flashlight & comfy shoes. The cabin is supplied with 'starter' coffee, teas, cocoa, condiments, dish soap, paper towels & toilet paper etc. If you need more than we provide you will find a grocery store only a few miles from the cabin. We supply 2 towels for each person for a 2-3 day stay. Our gift to you is a bottle of wine. If you do not wish to have one please let us know beforehand. We know that everyone does not drink alcohol & might prefer to not have it around. Fishing; kayak livery; horse trail rides; walking trails all close by.

Nestled in the woods at the edge of the George Washington National Forest in Amherst County, Virginia. There are also opossum, raccoon, fox, rabbit, wild turkey, blue birds, gold finch, grosbeaks, Red Tail Hawk, Bald & Golden Eagle (near the James River) and too many other birds to mention here. The North Fork of the Buffalo River runs through the lower end of the property as well. This is a Protected “Natural” Trout Stream with Brook & Rainbow Trout." Hummingbird Haven is a 2 Bedroom, Bath & 1/2, Living Room, Kitchen/Dining Room Combo with a surrounding Sunroom and 14’ X 16’ Deck. Below you will find Recreational/Creative places and activities near the cabin. Although we tried to be thorough, this is by no means complete. Interaction with GuestsTypically we meet our guests when they arrive, provide a tour of the cabin and answer any questions they may have. We also like to see them again before they leave to make sure everything met or exceeded their expectations and to say good-bye. The SpaceThe center section of this 3 part cabin was found on the 'back 40' in sticks. It was gathered & moved to this location, reconstructed & then two small cabins were added to the original to create the one cabin. You can see the 3 sections in the vista photos. A writer-in-residence for W & L Univ lived here for 14 years before our turning it into a guest rental. There is a sweet loft with Q bed over the living room & up some steepish stairs for the adventurous... a fun place to sleep though the main bedroom is on the first floor opposite the bathroom. You will find 2 rockers on the front porch to while away the hours in peace & tranquility. On the back deck is a gas grill, & in the yard is a circular picnic table with umbrella & 3 Adirondack chairs for relaxing. Guest AccessGuests are invited to walk on the fire roads & walking paths on the 250 acres. There are breath taking panoramic views, a modern day labyrinth & much wildlife to enjoy. Our farm is above the confluence of the South & the Maury Rivers. Across from the entry road to cabin is an access to the Chessie Trail, a 7 mile walking/jogging trail between Lexington & Buena Vista. The cabin is close to many attractions, an AT trail head, the Blue Ridge Pkwy, VA Horse Ctr, Natural Bridge plus many others. Our guests are invited to walk on the farm respecting other guest cabins. Be sure you leave plenty of daylight for your return trip & take a good flashlight. Interaction with GuestsOur cabins are 'self catering' spaces. We have no interaction with guests unless requested. We honor your desire for quiet & privacy. You may see or hear the mower on some days or see general maintenance being handled. If you are lucky to be here when the hayfield is being harvested you are in for a treat! We are only a phone call away. The NeighborhoodWe love the tranquility, abundant wildlife, the character of the cabins & the drop-jaw vistas from most anywhere on the farm. The top of the farm has a hilltop called Mount Grace. On it is the State of Grace sacred circle with a modern day labyrinth recently completed. Antonia's geometric sculptures, the 'Geometries of Love', have been placed inside the circle. The ceremonial flags of saffron & crimson are put up when the occasion calls. Getting AroundA car is a must here. In the case of snowy weather you will want to be driving a car that is fine on a slight grade of dirt & gravel. We have the farm roads plowed if the snow is more than a few inches. The SpaceThis cabin is a unique space lovingly remodeled & added onto several years ago. It is our largest & most modern cabin in addition to our personal retreat space, therefore it has some decor that is upgraded from what might normally be here. Two verandas & a side deck each with chairs for relaxing were added to the once small cabin. A great room was added with lots of windows & glass doors, comfy sofas, large chairs. stone fireplace & a grand piano. There is no Wi-Fi on this side of our farm & no cable for TV. The flat screened TV is set up for DVDs & computer compatibility. There are two fireplaces here for a touch of luxury with the mantels cut from our managed timber. Our split wood is cut only from fallen trees & leftover lumber from farm construction. You will find this cabin in its own private glen with a large mown meadow, a Meso-American Pyramidal Love Seat, a natural sink hole we call The Chalice Grove & a long private entry drive. Perfect setting for a totally quiet relaxing time here. We hope that you will love this glen & magical cabin as much as we do! Guest AccessGuests are invited to walk on the fire roads & walking paths on the 250 acres. There are some breath taking panoramic views, a modern day labyrinth & much wildlife to enjoy. Our farm is above the confluence of the South & the Maury Rivers. Across from the entry road to cabin is an access to the Chessie Trail - a 7 mile walking/jogging trail between Lexington & Buena Vista. The cabin is close to many attractions, an AT trail head, the Blue Ridge Pkwy, VA Horse Ctr, Natural Bridge plus many others. We ask that the guests in the other cabins are respected by keeping your viewing etc at a distance. If you walk on the farm and/or to the hilltop please be sure you leave plenty of daylight for your return trip & take a good flashlight. The SpaceThis fully-furnished apartment is part of a post and beam style barn/building. It features hardwood floors with radiant floor heat. It has a bedroom with a full-size bed and a sitting room. In addition to a full bath with a double vanity, there is also a kitchenette including a small oven/stovetop, microwave, and full-size refrigerator/freezer. The cupboards are furnished with dishes, pots, pans, and utensils. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the unit as described above; this unit has a private entrance. Also, washer and dryer are available for guests. Interaction with GuestsYour host lives in a separate building on the property and are therefore available to assist with any problems or questions. The NeighborhoodThis property is very private because it is located at the end of a half-mile gravel lane. Yet, while this property offers privacy, it is located just minutes from the surrounding towns, grocery store, restaurants, shops, and antique stores. Getting AroundBuena Vista is located just a few miles off the Blue Ridge Parkway and Interstate 81. Route 60 as well as Route 501 run through the town and are therefore minutes from this property. Also notable is the fact that the Appalachian Trail is just a few miles from Buena Vista. Other Things to NoteAs the name indicates, this property is a small, family farm with chickens, guinea fowl, ducks, rabbits, and a few cats. When guinea hens "raise an alarm," it is sometimes noisy. However, it's a 20 acre property with plenty of room for people and animals and therefore the guinea hens' alarm is typically a distance away from the buildings and people.

The SpaceThis is a totally unique experience! Perfect as a destination venue for weddings, receptions, workshops etc. Set on 250 acres of rolling farmland, only 4 miles from downtown Lexington, this unique location & venue can offer you or your group a park/private estate like setting with amazing vistas. The Lodge is across the road from the Maury River. This retreat is a 'self-catering' facility meaning that we rent 'space' & require our guests/renter to take care of themselves, cleanup, turn off lights as they would at home etc. There is a full catering kitchen with everything you or a caterer should need. The guest room guests have use of the 2nd floor Hayloft Room Lounge & the coffee bar with coffee, teas, hot cocoa & a mini refrigerator. Those staying in the deluxe loft dorm also have use of this Lounge area. Attached to The Lodge is a balcony & a 65 ft grapevine covered pergola with a fish pond, water fountain & sweet waterfall. Adjacent is a meditation garden, another small pergola & a fire pit. The courtyard is large enough for a three pointed tent providing outdoor seating for larger events. In good weather the cement floor of the pergola or Stone Garden can serve as a dance floor. Guest AccessThe renter of The Lodge has use of the catering kitchen, large double sided stone fireplace, pergola, fire pit, meditation garden & small pergola including the courtyard if they are renting a tent. The adjacent cottage studio & the other adjacent studio are add'll rentals (also listed on our airbnb listings) & their spaces, grill & patio are not part of this rental. Interaction with GuestsWe are always available by phone & during the week there is someone in the farm office to answer questions or find assistance. We rent space & are not a full service facility. The contract holder is responsible for having everything in order beforehand & cleaned before departure. Our farm home & office is adjacent to The Lodge so we are available if needed. We love to meet our renters. The NeighborhoodIt is beautiful here! Short walks bring amazing vistas of mountain ranges, hay fields, live stock & on a clear night more stars than you have probably seen in a long time. Our neighbors are good country folks many of whom have been on their land for decades if not generations. People here turn out lights at night & frown on 'city folks' who leave them on. We do our best to be good neighbors & keep a low profile. No loud music or loud entertaining outdoors past 10:30pm. There is not an elevator so you will need to be okay with carrying your luggage up to the 2nd (guest rooms) or 3rd floor (loft dorm). Getting AroundPersonal vehicle is necessary. Parking limited to 85 cars in event parking lot approx 75 yds from The Lodge. If you are having an event of approx 50-125 people you might consider small vans 10-12 persons to bring guests here & return them to a pre-arranged location. Other Things to Note** 12% tax is included in the quoted price. The damage/cleaning deposit is returnable pending an assessment after departure. Since airbnb does not seem to have this contract option this would be necessary to address after the booking. *** Multiple day rates are also available in addition to the weekly rate. *** Rental of the 1st floor is also possible if the guests rooms are already booked. When making reservation request please send inquiry first to make this clear so that we can return a 'special offer' to you for the uses that suit you.

The SpaceThis is a converted church. It is a kind of cross between urban loft aesthetics and historical architecture. Guest AccessI have one guest room with a Full sized bed. I also have 2 queen sized futons, a couch and 18 pews. You can use all of the house except my bedroom and my studio (unless we work out the details for you to useuse either of these in advance). I have a 10ft theater screen connected to my projector and computer and you are welcome to use all of these and my WiFi internet. You can use my large kitchen and I have a charcoal BBQ that you are welcome to use. I have no freezer, but a full sized fridge and ice machine Interaction with GuestsI travel often. If I am around, I will be happy to give you advice and ideas about hikes and local attractions. If our schedules work, I will be happy to share meals. The NeighborhoodBuena Vista is a quiet residential town tucked in between the mountains and a river. The blue ridge parkway and many hiking trails are minutes away. 10 minutes away there is a very nice town (Lexington) with great restaurants and much shopping. Getting AroundVery little public transit in the area. Greyhound, Amtrak, and airports are 45-60 min away. There is a local bus during daylight hours that will take you between Buena Vista and Lexington for $0.50 but it isn't fast. Basically, staying here without your own car will be difficult (although not necessarily impossible). There is plenty of parking in front of the house. Other Things to NoteI have a golden retriever. If I am around, you will likely encounter him. Predictably for his breed, he is quite friendly. I have no TV and no cable service, only a projector, computer, and the internet. If you want to watch movies, you can use my computer and projector.
