The SpaceOn this ranch, located in the "coffee triangle" (a UNESCO world heritage site), you will be able to experience a combination of nature (fauna and flora) and culture, especially architecture, only to be found in this region. The typical bird, for example, is the "blue-crowned mot-mot" (Barranquero) that lends its name to our "Posada Campestre el Barranquero". Located at a height of about 1900 meters (6200 feet) and only 4 degrees away from the equator, we have an untouched cloud forest that gives birth to 3 springs that supply fresh water to much of the area. If desired, the ranch offers contact and experience with cows and chickens. Guest AccessYou will have access to the entire house with 3 bedrooms, hot shower, terrace with hammock and chairs, service area with washing machine and covered space for drying clothes, completely equipped kitchen with microwave, toaster, stove top, fridge, electric coffee maker, water filter, sets of pots and pans, plates, cups, glasses, wine glasses and cutlery; dining area and living room with DVD player. This country home is located on a ranch to which you can have access with a guide, if you wish. Binoculars are available to see the panorama and the birds from the terrace. If desired, we are available to transport you from the International Airport El Eden in Armenia to the country home. If you choose to arrive by bus you can use the public transport from the bus terminal in Armenia directly to Pijao where we can pick you up. Interaction with GuestsWe respect our guests' privacy, but if desired we can make suggestions regarding any possible activities and points of interest in the area. We are also available by cell phone. The NeighborhoodThe area offers numerous activities: 5 minutes from the village of Pijao, easily as beautiful as the well-known Salento ( but with much less tourists); tours of local coffee plantations; hiking in the mountains; fishing at a local trout farm; 30 minutes from the Mariposario (butterfly farm) in Calarca; 1 hour from Parque Del Cafe and a little more from Panaca (a recreational farm); 45 minutes from the state capital Armenia, 50 minutes from the international airport of Armenia, etc. Getting AroundThere is frequent public transport by bus between Pijao and Armenia but the most typical local transport is by Jeep Willys and is very affordable. Other Things to NoteAs Pijao and the ranch are located at an altitude of 1600 to 1900 meters (5200 to 6200 feet) and 4 degrees north of the equator, the temperatures vary between 15 to 25 degrees Celsius during the day (yearly average is 17 C) and 10 to 18 degrees Celsius at night.
