The SpaceA Cape Dutch cottage incorporates two rooms, one with double bed and one with twin beds. Tea and coffee facilities are available in the double room. An additional loft above the garage will sleep two more people (one twin bedded room) and has a bathroom en suite, and lovely outside shower.
If you are not self-catering, breakfast is available at a fee of $5 for homemade muesli, yoghurt and fruit, or $8 for a full English. If dinner is required, this must be arranged prior to your visit with Frances, your hostess. Dinner will be an extra $10 per person. Drinks are available on request.
If you would like any laundry done, please advise and I will supply rates on demand. Guest AccessGuests will be able to look around the farm, and go to the river if pre-arranged. Meals will be eaten outside in the herb garden, weather permitting! If you would like a braai (barbeque), this can be arranged no problem! Interaction with GuestsI will be able to offer help with directions and information required regarding the area and the city, as well as on Zimbabwean travel requirements if needed. The NeighborhoodThis is a beautiful tranquil area in a friendly valley, away from the hustle and bustle of Bulawayo, but close enough for a shopping trip, or to see the sights, particularly the Natural History Museum, and the Art Gallery. I will provide more information on Bulawayo's attractions, restaurants and shops/banks if required.
Matopos National Park, one of our favourite places on earth, a World Heritage Site, is close by - only an hour from the farm! Here you can hike, climb kopjies, cycle, visit Rhodes' Grave and view bushman' paintings. If you would like a transfer there, this can be arranged, please enquire for rates and details. Getting AroundThere is no public transport from the farm except for the local mini buses. Self-drive is ideal, but if you do require a transfer from Bulawayo or the airport, the cost for a return trip will be $15, (up to four passengers.)
If you would like a trip to Matopos it will be $50 for the return trip. A picnic can be arranged, at $8 per head. Parks fees will have to be paid by guests. For locals it is $4 per vehicle and $3 per person. SADC guests pay $12 each, and International $15 each. Foreign vehicles are charged at $10 per vehicle. Other Things to NoteThis is not a malaria area, although there are mosquitoes around in summer. Nets are provided. It is a dairy farm and we have four lovely Labradors! Our parents live next door so quiet guests are much appreciated.
This is a wonderful area for painting and photography, as well as birding enthusiasts. I plan to run art (drawing and painting courses) as well as photography courses for budding artists further down the line!
