The SpaceThe cottage sits on over an acre of land and has spectacular views down the valley and back up the mountain. It has been renovated and extended recently to modern standards to provide added levels of comfort in this beautiful and very peaceful setting. There is a large kitchen, dining room and living room that takes up all of the original cottage. This room has the original stone fireplace which now contains a wood burning stove. In addition to this there is a utility room, a bathroom and two double bedrooms. One bedroom is normal size room with a double bed. The main bedroom is very large and has a king size bed, an en-suite shower, sink and toilet, there is also room for a fold down single bed in this room. The cottage is heated primarily by an energy efficient condenser oil burner. The system is timed but can occasionally be boosted, though we ask that our guests make fair use of the oil supplies given the price of oil and its environmental impact. There is a large wood burning stove in the living and dining room. This burns seasoned logs very well. A small supply of logs will be available for every visitor. Additional logs can be purchase in the Spar in Kinlough. The cottage contains a fridge, an electric oven, a gas hob, a microwave, a washing machine, a tumble dryer, a dish washer, a vacuum, an iron,a hair dryer, a tv, a dvd player, an espresso machine, various lamps, two shaver socket lights, an fm/mw radio. We harvest rainwater from the cottage roof. The water is then filtered twice and uv sterilised. The result is beautifully clean clear water. It is ph neutral and free of chlorine and other damaging chemicals. We ask our guests not to pour anything down the guttering drains which may effect water quality. There is a good selection of books at the cottage. We would ask our guests to avail of these but to leave what they find. Outside there is a bench, table and chairs so that our visitors can enjoy the spectacular valley views with a cup of coffee. There is ample space for parking and for strolling. Guest AccessGuests will have complete access to the whole cottage for the duration of their stay. Interaction with GuestsWe are available by phone at all times during your stay and are more than happy to help with any queries. Neighbors in the vicinity of the cottage can act on our behalf if need be. The NeighborhoodThe village of Kinlough is 10 minutes by car and the coast is reachable in 15 minutes. The towns of Donegal, Sligo and Enniskillen are within easy reach (30min, 25mins and 1 hr respectively), so exploration of Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim and Fermanagh is all possible. The location of Eagles Rock Cottage is perfect for any number of outdoor activities. It is situated 300m from the start of the Eagles Rock trail, a trail that takes the walker onto Trusc Mór for fabulous views of Glenade and Donegal Bay. It is the perfect location for: Hillwalking - through the Darty mountains Cycling - through the quiet country roads Fishing - course fishing in Glenade Lake and Salmon and Trout by license in the Drowse Surfing - at Bundoran off the beach, or off 'The Peak' Nature Photography and Painting- around the cottage and general Glenade area. Of course if you just want to get away from it all there is a well stocked library of books for quiet hours of reading by the wood stove. Getting AroundA car is necessary to make the best of a stay at Eagles Rock Cottage. Other Things to NoteChildren are of course welcome and we can supply a cot and feeding chair if necessary. We would remind parents that the terrain around the cottage is mountainous and rugged, there are streams, rocks, ditches, fallen trees, bog holes and so on in the vicinity. With toddlers and small children (such as our own) in mind, we have fenced off a large area immediately around the cottage to create a 'safer play' area, however supervision of young children outside would still be necessary. Small breed dogs are welcome. We cannot accommodate larger dogs or more than one dog at a time because the area is full of sheep that often wander on to the property. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs and any damage that a dog might cause. Dogs should not to be left in the cottage unattended. Mess or damage caused by a dog may result in the loss of the damage deposit (to date this has never happened).
