A safe haven for women travelers, we are located just South of Seattle, within walking distance of Puget Sound, and 20 minutes from Seattle by automobile or Light Rail. We are about 1/4 mile from Ambaum Ave. and the 120 bus either to the Burien Transit Center or to downtown Seattle. Light rail from Tukwilla Station is now open. We provide a women-only self-catering studio. That means coffee/tea/cereal/milk/bread/butter/fruit/yoghurt is provided but hot breakfast is not served. Studio has own 3/4 bath, Queen bed, loveseat folding out to futon, dresser and closet space. Full kitchen, dining and living areas, iron/ironing board, WiFi. Perfect if you like to cook. Smoking is outside at the back of the yard only; so it does not come in our open windows. Fresh linens and towels provided weekly. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ We are a quiet and meditative WOMEN-ONLY household. Please, no drugs, parties, alcohol abuse, or theft. No illegal activity allowed what-so-ever. An occasional glass of wine with dinner is our style as well. If you must smoke, then go out to the chairs at the back of the property so the smoke does not drift in our windows. No male guests overnight. All women are welcome. Most children are welcome but we need to discuss prior. We do have pets. Sorry, no additional pets. Our pets do not have to visit you, and if you are allergic we can keep them out of your space. If you are highly allergic then we might not be the best place. Check in time is at 4:00 p.m. or later and check out time is at 11:00 am or sooner. These times are negotiable if no one is here prior or after your visit. If you could give me an estimated time you'll be checking in and checking out, it would be greatly appreciated. Our Studio works best with 2 women. However, we know that friends and kids travel as well so there is a $15 per night for a 3rd guest. Sometimes things break, get spilled or otherwise. Just let us know. :) *Please note, we like to know a little about the women who are going to stay in our home. We prefer to have a message or two back and forth before the actual reservation is confirmed.

The SpaceSuper fun space with a private entrance via our lavish Japanese style landscaped back yard, with a koi pond and waterfalls, reflecting path and large deck with BBQ, outside table and covered lounging area. Entering the private entrance, you will first be in the large coffee room, with private bathroom (recently remodeled!), microwave, electric hot water pot, toaster, and a Keurig coffee maker. Being in Seattle, we offer a great selection of coffee blends, flavored coffees, hot chocolate, and tea. From here, you enter your large 15x15 bedroom (the room is much larger than the pictures look!). It has a super comfy pillow-top queen size mattress, quiet ductless AIR CONDITIONING during the Summer (unusual for Seattle!), heating, cable tv, refrigerator (stocked with bottled water), complimentary snacks, and high speed wireless internet. You are surrounded by cool and fun art, masks, books, photography and other pieces of the owners personal collection from his travels around the world. We have also just added a desk (requested by our awesome repeat business travelers). The photos on this listing were photographed by an AirBnB photographer and verified! Guest AccessGuests have access to the backyard, with its beautiful Japanese style landscaping, huge deck with comfortable places to relax, a teak table and chairs (which lived on a cruise ship for first two years of their life!) for outdoor dining, a propane fire pit, multi-tiered waterfall and koi pond, and BBQ (please let us know in advance so we can prepare utensils, plates and silverware). Interaction with GuestsI tend to leave my guests on their own, but as I work at home about half of the week, I am available as needed, or via phone/text most of the time. I try to answer all messages within an hour, usually quicker! Any questions about the Nest before booking? Send me a note! I do love to meet and chat with our guests, but also respect their space and only interact when it's appropriate (usually in the back yard, while enjoying the space!). Since I use an electronic coded lock, I do not have to be there when you arrive. The NeighborhoodThe Adventurer's Nest is just a few blocks from the Puget Sound, and the cool sea breezes often can be felt. Burien is a clean, comfortable, and quiet neighborhood just 7 minutes from SEATAC airport, with a great "small town" style downtown, central park, and lots of great bars and restaurants. We are also 10 minutes from Westfield Southcenter Mall, one of the largest shopping malls in Western Washington, which has two large movie theater complexes and lots of great restaurants and shopping. We are also a short 20 minutes from downtown and all of the best attractions that Seattle has to offer, including the Space Needle, Pike Market, and the beautiful downtown waterfront. Getting AroundWe offer exclusively for our guests the opportunity to rent our 2006 fully loaded Nissan Murano for $50 per day, plus Turo fees (We use the service "Turo" for both yours and my protection.). You are welcome to rent the Murano for your whole trip or just for a day trip or a few hours. And if you have never used Turo before, I have a code that will take $25 off your first rental! Please ask me for further details. Local Burien bus stop is about 3 blocks away (runs commuter hours M-F) . The Burien Transit Center is about a mile away ($5 Uber or 5 minute walk), and the busses from the Transit Center go pretty much everywhere in Seattle 7 days a week. We also offer reasonably priced airport/train or bus station/cruise pier/downtown pickup and drop off's- please inquire for rates and availability (Please provide your pickup/drop off times to schedule). I also offer a free Lyft, or UberX ride (for first time users of these rideshare services- one of each per person!) to and/or from SEATAC airport or anywhere else, worth $20 (Uber), $10 (Lyft). Just ask! Other Things to NoteWe installed a super quiet ductless air-conditioning (for summers) /heating system into the room, for your total comfort. Most houses in Seattle don't have AC, but the Nest does! We have 2 very friendly happy dogs, Luigi the mini Weiner Dog, and MuShu the Pug. They will most likely come visit you when you arrive (happy barking and tails wagging) and we just ask that you double check that the back gate is shut tight each time you go in and out, to keep Luigi and MuShu safe and secure. The dogs will cross through the supply area of the coffee room periodically (from the main house) to reach the back yard. We recently removed the oil furnace, turning the Adventurer's Nest fully GREEN, with solar panels and a super efficient ductless air conditioning/heating system. Air conditioning is very rare in Seattle! I always keep the room ready for guests, and have a code lock, so I don't even have to be home for your arrival! This creates the best flexibility for our guests. Late night arrivals and last minute bookings are totally cool! Need a room tonight and it's available? Instant book! Washer/Dryer is available for $5 per load, including detergent, bleach, liquid softer and dryer sheets. Please ask in advance so we can make sure its prepared for your use. I am very familiar with the cruise departures/arrivals and can definitely offer some great advice if you are going on a cruise! I can also help planning your visiting plan, including some great "secrets" here in Seattle! If you have 3 or 4 guests, I offer a very comfortable Queen Size blow-up AeroBed mattress, which fits very nicely at the foot of the main bed. For 5 guests, I also add a Twin Size Aerobed to the Coffee room. Perfect for families! If you have a family or group that is more than 5, I can add another room that sleeps 3, "The Adventurer's Suite" for a very reasonable additional cost (less than the full cost of the Adventurer's Suite by itself). Please see my profile and the listing for the "Adventurer's Suite". For registrations with 1/2 guests, the use of the beautiful comfy Queen bed with fresh sheets, blankets and pillows is included. For registrations with 3/4 guests, a Queen Size or Twin Size Double Tall (your choice) Aerobed with fresh sheets, blankets, and pillows will be provided. For registrations with 5 guests, a Queen Size AND a Twin Size Double Tall Aerobed with fresh sheets, blankets, and pillows will be provided. If you would like to use an Aerobed (for 2 guests booked), or add the use of two Aerobeds (Queen/Twin for groups of 3/4 who need 3 beds), please inquire prior to booking, as there is a small additional fee. We respect and welcome guests of all faiths, countries of origin, orientation, ethnicity and gender identity. All are welcome. We allow smoking (+420 friendly) outside in the back yard. Please do not smoke or vape inside. Thanks! Celebrating something special? Let me know and I can help make it special! Wine and chocolates? Special private tours with me or one of my professional tour guide friends? Breakfast in bed? We can do that! My specialty is Swedish Crepes, Bacon, and Scrambled Eggs with cheese! Yum! .

The SpaceWelcome! For us, as experienced hosts, Airbnb is a way to make the global village feel smaller. Our toddler son loves meeting new people and we like to know about folks before they book. To get your booking accepted please tell us what your plans are (visiting family? tourism? business? layover?), including your **arrival** and **departure** times (approximations are fine). This is for safety and easy for both you and us. We also want to ensure you have an exceptional stay and we like to make sure that our place is right for you before you book (please read our whole listing before you request!). We may not accept your reservation if we think you haven't read our information or understand the place you are reserving. Some guests do not like the casual setting of the interior of our home. We have an active family life and friend community. Your space is always clean, but we eat, live, and act like normal people, so sometimes dishes are in the sink, and toys are left out. Our 2 Rooms: Northern Light (named for the large north-facing window in the room) features a queen-sized bed, a charming nook desk, and a 3 drawer dresser, and a private bathroom on the second floor of our home. The pictures are outdated, but the room looks very similar (better bed, different dresser, etc.) IMPORTANT NOTE: Sorry, there is no bathtub. The shower is small (one person). Please read our entire description, as it answers many questions about our location, parking, transportation, rules, etc. We cannot allow refunds outside of the refund restrictions we have specified through this site, so we encourage you to make sure that this location, set up, and accommodation works for you. Feel free to ask us any questions prior to booking, as well. The 2nd bedroom has a queen-sized bed, a small window, facing south, a little reading nook (not for children under 18, as it is elevated with no guard), and is smaller than Northern Light (our 1st, larger bedroom). There is also a dresser, and a chair in the room. Our Home: Built in 1942 (it's over 74 years old!), our rambling farmhouse-ish home is located in a mixed-income, residential neighborhood, seven minutes from SeaTac airport and 20 minutes from Seattle. It is large, but it's a work in progress. The rooms change each year to improve our guest experience. UPON RESERVING: You will get information about parking, self-check-in, house rules and arrival info. PLEASE read all of this and print it out, as it will help you have an easy check-in and a comfortable stay. Once you book the room, we ask a few questions to get to know you, in order to make your stay as comfortable as possible. **NOTE: Any child above the age of 1 year old is considered an additional person (we charge $10 each for additional people) and needs to be accounted for when you reserve. Guest AccessOur common spaces include: -- a large, beautiful kitchen if you want to prepare any (vegetarian) meals. --the Entry Room which offers some comfy chairs and lovely morning light for reading or writing -- the Great Room with a comfortable couch, and a large dining table -- and the (summer) veranda, which is adjacent to the dining room Our toddler is free-roaming but doesn't go upstairs to our guest rooms without us. Your rooms are private and we do not enter at any time without your permission. Interaction with GuestsAs a family of extroverts, we like to meet and interact with our guests (if possible), so please have some reviews from other airbnb hosts or personal references and a profile picture before you request a booking. For safety reasons, we will likely decline guests with no picture (of themselves) and/or no reviews from other hosts. We have a lively 4 year old who sleeps far from the guest room (he's asleep usually by 8p and wakes by 6am), but who is curious and vocal (typical toddler!). We are friendly, talkative, well-traveled and we really want to connect with our guests, learn about where they are from, and offer suggestions so people have a great stay here in Seattle. Sometimes we are busy, but we try to be available by phone or text when we're out. We also love to offer coffee and tea to our guests, so please let us know when you'll be up so we can have it ready. If you don't know, we'll leave it ready to for you to make and just ask that you clean up after use and to please put away any perishable items (milk, etc.) The NeighborhoodOur home is located in a mixed-income neighborhood, with residents from all over the world! Many homes are works in progress, inside and out, including ours. If you are looking for manicured lawns, sidewalks, and absolute quiet, homogeneity, then this neighborhood is probably not for you. Please look at the Street View in a map program to see where we are located and to get a good idea of our location. Outside Our Home/Burien/Seattle: 20 minutes (12 miles) outside of downtown Seattle, we're located in a diverse neighborhood. We are 1-2 miles away from grocery stores, several different restaurants, markets, and cafes. We can recommend some great, authentic and delicious spots. North SeaTac park is only a 10 minute walk away and has a playground, basketball court, biking/walking trails and Frisbee golf course. We are 2.2 miles from restaurants, the library, the post office, and the main drag of Burien. It's a great walk, if you're up for it. If you do have a car, we're 20 minutes from downtown, in no traffic (from 7-9:30a and 4-6p tack on an additional 20 minutes to and from Seattle, to be safe). Getting AroundWhile some adventurous types have stayed with us carless, we HIGHLY recommend having a car. Enterprise Car Rental (we love them) is very close and will pick up and drop off, but the hours are 8-5p on weekdays. If you're a more leisurely-focused and flexible traveler, public transportation is 7-11 minute walk away (depending on the time of day the stops are in different directions), and will take you downtown. If you want to check out the bus times (King County Metro Transit) prior to booking SR 509 and S 128th St are good locator points for buses. If you don't see yourself traveling during commuting times, prepare yourself for 45-60 minute bus rides to downtown Seattle. We'll know you have read this if you tell us that you "are aware of the transportation limitations and don't mind a long bus ride." :) If you have a car and want to be downtown but don't want to park, the light rail station is 2 miles away. It's a funky way to see the more industrial parts of south Seattle and the ride is consistently 38-42 minutes. There is ample, free parking in front of our house. -->We are not able to pick folks up from the airport at this time. Other Things to NoteIt helps to confirm your booking faster if you let us know your arrival time, if you have a car, and if you are aware of our 12 mile (20-30 mins by car) distance from Seattle downtown core.

The SpaceThe Urban Safari room is located down the stairs on the lower level of a large country style home. King bed is firm and has a memory foam topper, and comes with lots of pillows and extra blankets. Wood paneling and cupboards from he 60's give the rooms some old charm. The SpaceOur house is conveniently located south of downtown Seattle, minutes from SeaTac International (URL HIDDEN) is a safe and very walkable neighborhood, close to Burien Transit Center where you can take a bus to anywhere in Seattle, Tacoma or the Eastside (Bellevue). The house is within short walking distance to restaurants, bookstores, Tin Room Theater, and clothing boutiques of Old Burien. At least five churches are within walking distance. Hans German Deli, Armoire Chocolatier and Grand Central Bakery are nearby. Karuna Arts Yoga studio is a 10 minute drive away, along with fine dining at Anthony's Homeport and the Des Moines Marina. It is a 20 minute drive to Seattle's major hospitals, sports venues and downtown waterfront. The house is a comfortable, cozy space with 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, and is fully furnished and equipped for up to four people (please no pets and no smokers). It is bright and open with ample windows and views of the garden. There are only 2 steps to the front door and is easy to get in and out. The cottage has a fireplace, fully appointed kitchen and bath, washer/dryer, private patio with outdoor grill, and off-street parking. Beautiful Seahurst Beach and Puget Sound are only minutes away. Our goal is to provide a comfortable homelike stay for you and your loved ones! Guest AccessThe patio opens to a yard with room for childsplay. Lake Burien is a small private lake, good for swimming and with beautiful sunsets. The lake is on the other side of our residence, so access to the lake is arranged upon your arrival, including use of the kayak and stand-up paddleboard. The house has free off street parking and a garden with strawberries, waiting to be picked during the summer. Interaction with GuestsWe live in a house on the lake, same property. We are usually available to answer questions about the guest house, Burien, Seattle and surrounds, and to help make your visit better in any way possible. The NeighborhoodWe love Burien! It has a small town feel, but is still close to the airport and all freeways so has easy access to everywhere. We live on a residential street and love walking 3 blocks to Old Burien and eating out or taking in a movie at the Tin Theater. We love taking walks heading west toward Puget Sound. We love concerts and movies in the park during the summer. Getting AroundWe provide free off street parking. Public transit is about a 1/2 mile walk away and connects to all parts of the Seattle Tacoma Metro area. Light rail is a few miles away, but once there you can park and take it downtown. We want your vacation to be perfect, so let me know if there's any special requirements that you need. If you need to check in early or check out late I am happy to accommodate as long as it doesn't interfere with an existing reservation. I always tell everyone to pretend like you are brand-new neighbors in our neighborhood. Checking in is easy the keys are in the blue mailbox. Just let yourselves in and enjoy! Guest AccessThe airstream has every thing you need. I like to think of the airstream as three separate rooms. The middle section has the two twin beds. You can also watch TV and the lights are perfect for reading a book. The bathroom is amazing, it operates like a regular bathroom in your home. The SpaceWe offer a home away from home..We enjoy opening our home to others, sharing great meals, talking about our travels, and dreaming of new destinations. Being a host is not just about offering a bed or a place to sleep. We truly want to create a relaxing, comfortable experience for you and we love sharing what we have with others. We offer a clean, cozy room. We are 10 minutes by car to downtown Seattle, and 6 minutes to SeaTac Airport. Our house is a restored 100 yr old farm house, with a large peaceful private yard, and a very nice view of the Puget Sound and The Olympic mountains. We are within 2 blocks of a nice forest, with walking trails, that lead to a public beach/seahurst park. The room comes with use of our gourmet kitchen and or back yard BBQ. We have two boys, ages 8 and 9. And we have seperate living quarters on second floor. The SpacePLEASE READ THE FULL DESCRIPTION OF THIS ROOM: This room is an Asian themed room. It used to be closed in, but the last owner of the house opened this room up and used it as a breakfast area. SO PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS NOT A CLOSED IN ROOM WITH AN ACTUAL DOOR AND IS SEPARATED FROM THE KITCHEN BY A PARTITION (SOJI SCREEN) but is still private. No one will invade your privacy and they cannot see into the room. This is a small room (8.2 X 8) but also has a window ledge that the mini refrigerator and microwave sits (2.4 X 5.10). We let our guests set their luggage in the entrance way so they don’t feel cramped, if they choose. There is also a Keurig station which also has a bowl full of snacks for your convenience. We also have a fan or heater that can be used in the room. Please see the pictures. This room is small but it still has a mini Refrigerator and microwave, as well as a little coffee maker. So, all this room lacks are size and the fact that it does not have its own TV. We have posted lots of pictures for you to truly know what our house looks like inside and out. This room is an excellent room with original paintings on the wall from Japan and is very relaxing with a memory foam mattress and pillows. It is for someone who doesn't mind not having the TV in the room and hanging out with the rest of the house. (We do not expect the guest to stay the whole time in the room but come out and watch the TV in the living room.) further more we want to let you know that the house does have two bathrooms, but the main bathroom is the only one that has a shower. The second bathroom is for use if the other bathroom is occupied. In the future, I will add pictures of the other bathroom. Please read our reviews for this room below. Now if this room does not work for you WE HAVE ANOTHER ROOM as well on here and to see the other room, all you have to do is click on our profile picture, and it will take you to our profile where it lists both rooms, and you just click on the other room. THIS OTHER ROOM has everything in it that you would find at a motel: mini refrigerator, mini microwave, mini coffee maker, plus even a flat screen TV. This room however, costs $10 more but is a bigger room (10.2 X 12) and completely closed in with a real door and is located next to the main bathroom. Guest AccessYou will have access to the whole house, bathroom, kitchen, dining room, and living room. You will also be able to hang out in the yard... front and back. Plus, there is a clothes washer and dryer at the house if you need to use it, we just ask that you provide your own soap and clean up after yourself, thank you. Interaction with GuestsWe are home most of the time and if you need help with anything please just ask. Plus, if you need transportation, if we are free, we would love to provide you with that but please note we asked for donations or tips for our time and gas costs when providing transportation. I have to add, that we may not always be available to provide transportation because Alex works on call. The NeighborhoodBurien is a 100-year-old waterfront community with six miles of Puget Sound shoreline and expansive mountain views. Residents take pride in their neighborhood, actively preserving their saltwater accesses and protecting the appearance of their streets and public spaces. Housing ranges from starter homes to high-end homes, condominiums and apartments of all sizes, including senior apartments. Residents and business people alike love the convenience of Burien’s hub location and great connections. You can drive north to Seattle in 12 minutes, east to Sea-Tac Airport in five minutes, and south to Tacoma or east to Bellevue in 30 minutes. The hub site means that jobs and entertainment are convenient, the parking problems are elsewhere, and a slower pace prevails in residential neighborhoods. Burien has been busy rebuilding and reinventing itself. Downtown’s major arterial received a makeover with widened sidewalks, benches, landscaping, and old-fashioned lampposts. The new Burien Town Square in 2009 opened its first buildings, a joint King County Regional Library and Burien City Hall, and multi-story condominium/retail building. Also completed was Town Square Park at the center of the development. Town Square has reshaped the downtown area into a central gathering point for the community. Burien’s downtown serves a large segment of the South King County population. For more than 70 years, Burien has been noted for boutique retail, professional personal services, and many ethnic restaurants that attract diners from near and far. Burien’s international cuisine originates in Australia, China, El Salvador, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Thailand and Vietnam. Burien’s inviting downtown features a July 4th parade, Farmers Market, Art Walks, excellent local theater and seasonal festivals, which generate year-round activity excitement. Old Burien, the historic town center, is bustling with new development, including the soon-to-be-built Highline Heritage Museum, serving the 150,000 residents of the greater Highline area. Getting AroundThe house is in Burien (next to SeaTac Airport), near shopping centers, parks, restaurants, and the Puget Sound. The house is 5-10 minutes from I-5/405 and 25 minutes from downtown Seattle (12.5 miles) and is a mile from the transit center (buses), plus, three miles from the Tukwila light rail (train), which goes downtown Seattle. It is an hour drive from Olympia (Dawn use to work there) and a half an hour drive from Tacoma for those of you who are thinking about going south. If you, are in need of transportation if we are free we would love to provide you with that but we do ask for a donation for our time and gas cost. It is important that our guest to keep in mind that Alex works on call and we may not be able to always provide transportation. It could change. Other Things to NoteAlex has a Siamese cat (Boris). Boris is very friendly and usually interacts with guests. Dawn has a gray and white long haired cat (Baby) and she interacts sometimes with guests but most of the time is with Dawn. Smoking is allowed only outside of the house either on the porch or in the back yard under the gazebo. Lastly, we would like you to know we have a roommate who lives above our garage. The roommate, Mike, does the maintenance and remodeling around the house. Most likely you won't see him because he never hardly ever comes down to the house.
