The SpaceWe grow cut flowers and organic produce. There are 2 dairy cows and jars of fresh milk, laying hens and fresh eggs and a bevy of friendly barn cats. We have a giant Great Pyrenees/Maremma mix named Stella. The space is actually 2 rooms, a parlor or sitting room and a small attached bedroom. We have room on a blow up bed for 2 extra folks in the parlor attached to the bedroom. You can check out the farm online... Broadturn Farm Guest AccessGuests are welcome to use the kitchen and enjoy any of the farm products we have on hand including eggs, milk and produce in season. Park in the driveway (farm-stand customers park along another access road around back.) And, the bathroom is mostly private with the exception of an occasional load of laundry that we need to sneak in there to do. Interaction with GuestsWe work from home and our level of frenzy varies depending on when in the season you visit. We'll be here to greet you and get you acquainted with the farm. You are welcome to tour the fields, barns and hike in the woods. And if you are super zealous about farming, you can certainly arrange to do some farm work. And, the hot tub is nothing short of fabulous on a winter night with the snow on your cheeks. (But we drain it in the summer...) The NeighborhoodWe are 10 minutes from Pine Point Beach, 5 minutes from Salmon Falls on the Saco River (the best swimming hole in the region) and 25 minutes from downtown Portland. There is plenty of seafood to be had at the beach and Portland is a mecca for diners.
