The SpaceThe cottage is a warm and romantic dwelling on a hillside above Moonstone Beach. Entire house on a large lot. The desirable Happy Hill neighborhood is nestled in a pine forest, quiet, spread out in a way not found on Lodge Hill or Park Hill. It is an easy walk to the beach or to West Village. (An uphill walk home. The price we pay for the ocean view.) Close to Hearst Castle/Gateway to Big Sur. Ideal for couples/close groups/close families. I also rent my airstream, sleeps two very comfortably, at additional charge should you have need. Inquire for pricing. Guest AccessClose to wonderful restaurants, Paso Robles wine country (Best wineries are in "Templeton Gap" only 20 minutes along 46 West), Hearst Castle and Big Sur. Interaction with GuestsI am readily available to answer any questions and address any concerns. Recommendations/menus available in the home. The NeighborhoodHappy Hill is a special part of Cambria. Great for walking or simply enjoying the pines and ocean views from the front deck. Homes are well spaced on this street, allowing for relaxation without the sense of living on top of your neighbors. You will see deer, hummingbirds, wild turkeys. Other Things to NotePlease be mindful of water usage as it is a scarce resource in Cambria. The CCSD allows for 50 gallons per household per day. Excessive use may result in additional charge to renter. Pets must be approved in advance and will be charged a fee of $75.

We can advise you on wine tours (there are dozens of wineries within 35 miles). Don't be reluctant to ask us if you need something. Most guests are surprised how many amenities we provide--free. Highway 1 (PCH) travelers--Please note!! If you are coming south be sure not to leave Monterey any later than 3 p.m., the drive can be up to 3 hours, and any short stop may have you you driving in the dark on very windy roads. Also, there can be lots of traffic. A word to the wise...(lucky it's daylight savings time now)

Guest AccessGuests have access to all the gardens and deck to watch the sunsets over the sea. Interaction with GuestsI always like to meet my guests upon arrival and brief them on the area with things to do and places to go. I also appreciate having phone contact for texting their arrival time or to answer any questions they have. Sometimes if I am unavailable to meet you at your arrival, Daniel, my husband or a friend will be there. We can always arrange a self check in as well should you arrive very late at night. We do value our privacy as well as our guests but are always available for what ever you may need. The NeighborhoodIt is a lovely forested neighborhood that is very safe and tranquil. There are the usual family of deer that frequent the streets every morning and evening. We are not far from moonstone beach where there are a few restaurants to watch the sunsets at. The Sea Chest and Moonstone bar and grill are both pretty good eats. In the village, I recommend Indigo Moon for both lunch and dinner, the Cafe on bridge st. for the best lunch in town, in foods and value. Robins and Madelines are our next favorites for a special meal out that are sure to please, both in service and yummy meal. Getting AroundThere is a local bus that tourists take to a few places in the village and the castle. Walking is very safe but there are a lot of hills in Cambria. Fourteen outside steps will take you up to your hideaway with its own private entrance. Enjoy the ocean and forest view while you watch for passing whales or boats on the ocean. Or stroll through a quiet, safe residential neighborhood to cool your feet in the water at the seashore. Ideally located, we’re just 8 miles along the beach from the Hearst Castle or continue beyond to the elephant seal beach and visit the seals which are resting and teaching the babies to fish after migrating from Alaska. Only fifteen miles from the heart of the Central Coast wine country, find more than 20 vineyards and their tasting rooms within a half hour drive through beautiful, rolling hill country. Or watch them press olives and make olive oil at the olive orchard (Nov-Dec). Savor the different flavors of olive oil in the tasting room all year round. Your romantic, little hideaway has all the conveniences of a home. Enjoy a full kitchen with full size stove and refrigerator, microwave, toaster, etc. A full bath with both tub and shower. I meet you when you arrive and show you how to work everything which takes 10 or 15 minutes and then I leave. I'm happy to chat but that's up to you. The NeighborhoodThis is a very quiet residential neighborhood. The street doesn't lead to anywhere so there is very little traffic. Mainly older retired people for neighbors and it's safe to walk at night or anytime. Wonderful ocean view and you can hear the surf and seals barking when the wind is right. Getting AroundThere is basically no public transportation here. The nearest bus stop is about 3/4 of a mile away, and the busses run infrequently. Mainly you walk locally or use your car. It's about a mile and a half to the main street in town. Once you get to the main street it's an easy walk to anywhere. The SpaceThis bi-level offers you the privacy of the downstairs living quarters with a choice of guest bedrooms, along with a private updated bath. Each bedroom offers comfortable pillowtop mattresses and down comforters. Each bedroom offers access to the lower deck. The south bedroom includes an HD TV with cable channels. Unless your party has more than 2 people and requires both bedrooms, only one bedroom is reserved during your stay, so your use of the bathroom remains private and is not shared with other guests. Pricing is based on a maximum of 2 guests in a single room and includes the local occupancy tax. Please note the following: If your party exceeds two people and requires both bedrooms, each bedroom is limited to a maximum of two people. An additional charge is added for guests 3 and 4 (if applicable). This is to cover overhead costs. Guest AccessYour bedroom quarters is private, but during your stay, you are welcome to share the upper level where you can enjoy use of the kitchen and shared living areas, or relax on the upper deck. Breakfast is served either in the inside dining area, or on the outside upper deck (weather permitting). Due to drought conditions, your linens are not changed for stays less than 5 days. For longer stays (7 days or longer), limited access to the laundry room is offered. Interaction with GuestsIn the morning, coffee and a variety of organic (and other) teas are provided, along with gourmet breakfast options that are beautifully prepared with your dietary preferences in mind. Vegan, gluten-free, allergies, or paleo? I can accommodate. Eggs are purchased either from a neighbor whose chickens are rescues and living the good life, or from a local merchant who carries organic and free-range chickens. I try to purchase organic fruits and vegetables when possible, but at the very least, I look for chemical free and non-GMO produce and packaged products. The NeighborhoodCambria is a magical place. It's a wooded area right next to the ocean. Cambria very rural, so it's quite normal to see wild turkeys, quail, and deer walking around the neighborhood. The ocean brings with it the sounds and joys of the sea. Sea otters, dolphins, and seals spend much of their time close to shore, and you can watch pods of whales migrating while standing on the shoreline, or learn about the herds of elephant seals that call this area "home." This house is located at the highest part of town. The area is referred to as "Top of the World." It's the sunniest and warmest of all the microclimates in town. Top of the World is also special because you have great views of both the Santa Lucia mountain range to the east and the ocean to the west. Getting AroundPublic transit is offered in town, but it's not likely that you'll use it. A trolley usually runs during the summer months, which is rather sweet and which you may enjoy. The terrain is rather hilly. You can walk across town (literally), but you might prefer taking your car. Cambria offers a quaint boardwark that spans across Fiscalini Ranch and the oceanside. It's a lovely way to spend an hour, take in the beauty, and get in a little cardio action. The boardwark is basically level, so people of all ages should be able to enjoy it. Other Things to NoteHearst Castle is only 6 miles north of Cambria and offers tours daily. Just north of San Simeon, you can view the elephant seals that migrate here. You can also see the herds of zebra that live nearby and now consider the grounds of Hearst Castle their home. (I still scream like a child every time I see them.) If you're into wine tasting, you can do some tasting right in town, or drive east 20 minutes to experience some of the best wines on the central coast. A drive up Hwy 1 offers state parks and national forests where you can enjoy hiking, sightseeing, and great food.

The SpaceInformation and common questions from House Guests: Our kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans, knives, dishes and silverware for 12, and baking pans. There is a dishwasher. Wine glasses are also provided, though they aren't completely matching, in style with the rest of our assorted cookware. We try to avoid paper (in the kitchen) as much as possible... You will find lots of cloth towels.Yes, bathrooms are fully stocked with TP. We provide all the linens, including small towels on each bed, but we do encourage guests to bring their own towels. Intentionally, we have rather small towels that wash and dry quickly and they aren't the same plush thick things that some guests may be used to. Thick towels take a lot of space in the laundry and are very slow to line dry hanging outside, too, so in our efforts of sustainable and water wise operations, there is a reason for small towels, but please feel free to bring your own if you wish. You'll find quite an array of spices and condiments in our kitchen: salt, sea salt, pepper (ground and not), oil, ketchup, etc. There is a local health food market called Soto's True Earth Market on the corner about 2 minutes walk away, and supermarket about 1/2 mile away with anything you don't quickly find. There is a large coffee pot available, in addition to several other items that are subject to change, but currently include a vitamix blender, bread maker, champion juicer, a mandolin slicer, a sodastream fizzy water maker and the best yet and most low tech, lots of lime squeezers for margaritas. Guest AccessEntire House - including back bathroom and Guest Room with private entry. Interaction with GuestsAvailable by cell phone - usually I will be in San Luis Obispo, about 35 miles away during guests' visits. The NeighborhoodThe Inn is located in an ideal spot, half a block from Main Street, on a mixed residential and commercial street. There is a church next door - and besides some occasional singing noise on Sundays - they are wonderfully quiet neighbors. There are a couple small lunch only cafe's right on Bridge Street, and a just a few other residences. Getting AroundRTA runs bus service between Cambria north to San Simeon/Hearst Castle and south to Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo. Makes for great pick-ups for one-way bike rides if you like (ride south with the wind, and hop on the bus going northbound with your bike in the bike rack). Fares are $3 one-way (or less depending on your destination). Other Things to NoteCheck in by 1:30pm and Check out is usually by noon. Please inquire if you would like a later stay - sometimes we can accommodate that.

The SpaceThis hobbit house is an artistic and rustic little cabin in my backyard! It is really not a BNB, just a great little place to stay in Cambria. We call it "the pub", as it looks and feels like an old English pub, but much smaller. It has one full size bed and a single bed. There is no bathroom in the Pub. Guest have access to a private guest bathroom in the mainhouse just seconds away. There is an outdoor shower and a little pee only potty for late night bathroom stops. The little pee potty and the outdoor shower are just options, you always have access to a beautiful private bathroom in the mainhouse. Although, there is NO TOILET or running water in the pub, guest have access to a beautiful outdoor private shower and guest bathroom in the main house 24/7. We have filtered water for drinking available in the pub, an electric tea pot, coffee, tea, and a small frig for food/drinks. WIFI available in the Pub! Flat screen TV and DVD player In the Pub (a few DVDs to watch and a HDMI cable and hook up for your computer). Parking is free and easy. Cambria can be cold at night, especially winter and sometimes during spring time! The pub is heated with a wood stove. It does heat up nicely, but cools down quickly when you go out and in the morning when you wake up. The main house is a certified Green House by the SLO Green Building Association. Like a lot of travelers I meet, I am inspired to travel and live day by day producing the smallest footprint possible. Hearst Castle, downtown Cambria, and the ocean are all just minutes away by car. Downtown is about a 15 minute walk there and 20 minutes back. It is all down hill to the East Village from our house, so coming back can be challenging. Fiscallini Ranch Perserve is also about a 15 minute walk to our favorite trailhead from our front door. I need an hour heads up before your arrival so I can get home to greet you. It is best to use Airbnb to contact me. There is NO reception in Big Sur and it takes 3 solid hours not stopping to drive from Monterey to Cambria! This IS NOT a stretch of highway you want to drive at night. It is extremely beautiful and very dangerous! I do opt out of the Airbnb breakfast option, but do put out fruit, bread, and oats for guest in the morning. Coffee, tea, filtered water, 1/2 and 1/2 for coffee, and sugar provided. All sheets, towels, glasses, refrigeration provided. NO PETS allowed, I have one female dog on the property, she is an alpha female and it takes some work to get her to accept other doggies in her territory!!!!! She is absolutely great with people and kids. No smoking in or around the house! I have a designated smoking area, please ask. Friendly Dog on Property!! Lucy is my sweetheart, if you fall in love, you cannot have her!!! The pub sleeps really great, very quiet, except for the occasional raccoon that travels over the roof top. I love to build a fire in the rainy season, get a good book and settle into the pub for hours! Looking forward to meeting you! You will have full access to the garden and bathroom in the main house. You are also welcome to use the kitchen in the main house. The Pub guesthouse has no bathroom or kitchen. Reverse Osmosis drinking water, frig, tea kettle(hot water), french press, tea, and coffee are available in the Pub. Wifi available as well as TV(DVDs only) and stereo. I always interact with guest upon arriving and most of the time when they depart. During my guest stay, I do my best to be social and provide privacy. If someone shows up and just needs space and time to rest, that's pretty easy to read. I have had the sweetest opportunity to connect with guest and become friends frequently. It's been a rich experience for sure! We are in Stage 3 drought conditions which means water restrictions have been place on the community. What this means for guest is that we work together to be water wise. Short showers, not running water while brushing your teeth, etc. Please be conscious to help our community conserve an important natural resource. Thank You! Guest AccessGuest have access to the mainhouse 24/7. If you need anything don't hesitate to ask. Interaction with GuestsI do interact with guest, but respect your privacy as well. Since guest have to enter the mainhouse to access their bathroom, we often cross paths in the morning. I interact with guest upon check-in almost always and if I am around in the evening. I like to wake up, walk Lucy Dog, and try and get a surf in before I start my day. The NeighborhoodI am situated in a very quiet neighborhood called Lodge Hill. It is an older neighborhood in the community with a very homey feel. Getting AroundThere is a short cut to take if you want to walk downtown, but I have to show you the first time as it is hard to find at first! Other Things to NoteCambria's water supply is very low and we have been put under tight water restrictions. I ask guest to do their best to help us conserve water by taking short showers, turning off water when brushing teeth and shaving, and following flushing ideas like, "if it's brown flush it down, if it's yellow, it's mellow. Thank you!

The SpaceIf you want a quiet, secluded place to relax, this is it. My first impression was of the wind in the trees. The house is located in the "top of the world" of Cambria, which is known for expansive views and quietude. It backs up against forest there are two decks that look out amongst the pines and the Pacific. You regularly see deer, wild turkeys, all kinds of birds, squirrels, and occasionally a little bobcat. At night, leave the windows open and listen to owls or the distant bellowing of seals or crashing of waves. Guest Access- WiFi - Two TVs with Roku/Netflix/(SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Chromcast (no cable tv) - Weber gas grill Interaction with GuestsEmail, phone, and my family lives several blocks away if you need immediate attention. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is quiet and secluded. There are a few trails and roads that lead down to the ocean. If you have a couple of hours you can loop down to the ocean and onto the Fiscalini Ranch trails and then return. No car necessary. Other Things to NoteThere are two stairways, one leading to the top floor and one leading to the bottom floor. No wheelchair access.

The SpaceThis recently renovated, 2 bed/2 bath 1,000 sq/ft cottage is bright, clean and airy; just what you need for a worry-free and luxurious getaway to the beach. We call our cottage Fourteen Doors because that's how close it is to the water's edge. Here you can listen to the roaring ocean or catch a glimpse of the crashing waves from the front room, enjoy the fully stocked kitchen, grab the beach towels and head to the beach or bring a bike and ride to the west village, or just cuddle up with a soft blanket and relax in front of the fireplace or flat screen TV. There is so much to do, or you can do nothing at all, right here at Fourteen Doors. The recently updated cottage, ideal for couples or small families, counts two bathrooms and two bedrooms; one bedroom with a (huge) king bed and one bedroom with two (super comfy memory foam) full size beds. Luxurious linens and fluffy bath towels are all provided, no need to pack your own. Washer/dryer is located right on premise and is a must for traveling families. The bright and inviting kitchen comes fully stocked with plates, flatware, glassware, bake ware, serve ware and anything you'd need to make yourself at home. Guest AccessGuests at Fourteen Doors have access to all the wonderful things that make Happy Hill, a quiet Cambria neighborhood, a perennial favorite of beach-goers. Tucked away in a pine forest, Happy Hill and Fourteen Doors are ideally located for views and access to what makes the area so desirable. Off street parking is available for one car. There is space for a second car directly in front of the house on the street as well. The cottage is all on one level, but there are steps (6 or so) to navigate to get up to both the decks leading to the front and back doors. Just something to keep in mind for guests with mobility concerns. Fourteen Doors is just 2 blocks from the water! It is on the east side of Highway 1, and when walking from the house crossing it is necessary but very manageable. An uphill walk is in the cards when going from the beach back to the house, but when you're literally walking up "Happy Hill" it's hard to complain. Guests can take advantage of the BBQ on the back patio and enjoy a night in. Active guests can walk up the street directly onto the many paths of area land preserves with miles of beautifully maintained walking and hiking paths. There are so many options when it comes to what to do here! Ideally located on the central coast, Cambria is close to Hearst Castle, incredible restaurants, Paso Robles wine country (some of the best wineries are as close as only 20 minutes away along 46 West), and Big Sur. Interaction with GuestsWe do not live on site so you'll have the entire place to yourself with complete privacy. We are only a phone call away and are delighted to offer any assistance or answer any questions to make your stay at Fourteen Doors an experience of a lifetime. The NeighborhoodOur Happy Hill neighborhood is located just up from Moonstone Beach. Our cottage is super close to the water, (in fact that's how it got its name Fourteen Doors, you are only fourteen doors away from the beach). Forget driving to the beach, you're just too close! Moonstone Beach is well known for beautiful beach glass, and the boardwalk located just above the beach is a great place to take a long stroll. Local restaurants like the Moonstone Bar and Grill or the Sea Chest offer delicious food and drinks with a breathtaking ocean view. But the beach isn't the only choice for nature lovers. Hikers can walk the many paths of Fiscalini Ranch, a land preserve with miles of beautifully maintained walking and hiking paths, or check out the community park and pool (open seasonally) at Shamel Park with its views of the ocean. The options are breathtaking, and plenty! Fourteen Doors is ideally located for any number of activities to keep the whole family interested and entertained! Getting AroundThe village, the beach and walking trails are an easy walk or bike ride. Hearst Castle, the elephant seals north of San Simeon, Paso Robles wine areas and even stunning Big Sur are a nice easy drive. Other Things to NoteWe love this town, and we love this cottage. We are happy to share it with you!

The SpaceThe single word that is most often uttered by guests as they lay eyes on Victoria's Last Resort is...WOW!...often multiple wows. VLR is more an adult retreat so we do not feel comfortable with small children but make exceptions for infants...and your baby won't disturb anyone else...your space is separate from ours. The highlight is the food...this place is visually spectacular...but the food is even better. Brunch is included, dinner is optional. The menu is merely a suggestion, this chef enjoys a challenge and special requests, but don't worry...the regular menu options are delicious! And we just added a NEW 7-course tasting dinner that is out of this world. It is fun and whimsical, but really comfortable and classy. It is sexy and stylish while remaining cozy and restful. It helps to read the reviews because really, how often do you read that kind of a review? It is a little oasis. Everything is close enough to get to and far enough not to be bothered by. Your hosts are accessible but not intrusive and you will feel like you have the place all to your self. it is the kind of town you need a car in, but this is the world's most beautiful driving road so most people are in cars. Here, you have off-street parking in a safe and sheltered spot right near your door. Perfect for those collectible cars and precious bikes. You will never ever find another spot like this. The creative genius that is Victoria has managed to carve a perfect niche into an otherwise traditional coastal village. There is nothing quite like it and your experience is priceless. Maximize your relaxation factor in this inspirational uplifting playhouse for grownups. Great reviews on Yelp and Tripadvisor for Victoria's Last Resort! Guest AccessThe entire yard, gardens, decks, private patio, and self-contained suite with full kitchen, fireplace, and it's own entrance and parking. Interaction with GuestsThat is up to the guest...we are here if you want or need something, but we stay out of your way. The NeighborhoodQuiet, residential area with no close neighbors to disrupt your stay. Getting AroundBest to have a car when in Cambria, it is a bit far from place to place. Other Things to NoteWe are also known as Victoria's Last Resort if you would like to read other reviews on Yelp and TripAdvisor.
