The SpaceOur cabin home has a classic vaulted ceiling, with a wall of windows looking into the forest of evergreens. Lower level den with TV. Price is for 2 guests. Each additional person is $15 a night (two night minimum). We are a three hour drive from Sequoia/Kings' Canyon national parks. Guests are able to enjoy the entire cabin. If you don't bring your groceries from home shop in Porterville. The closest restaurants are 20 minutes or more away. Cafe 190 at Pierpoint Springs has Wi-Fi our cabin does not. Also due to our wilderness location your cell phone probably won't work. The cabin has a land line phone and Dish Satellite TV. We may meet guests when they arrive to answer questions, but will be heading to our home on the coast that day. You can call us if you have additional questions. Sequoia Crest (elevation 6800') is a unique community of private homes (103) within the Alder Creek Giant Sequoia Grove, home of the 5th largest tree in the world (Alonzo Stagg Tree). Sequoia Crest is surrounded by the Giant Sequoia National Monument. Private Poppy Lake is 1/2 mile away. Trails lead to Hossack Meadow, Alder Creek & the Jordan Peak trail. We are not near Sequoia or Kings Canyon national parks. You must use your own vehicle to get there. There are miles of trails to walk and hike. Bring your snow shoes or cross country skis in winter. The cabin key will be found in a combo lock box, located on the railing near the garage side-door. After you book, we'll email the code. We will not be at the cabin, but are just a phone call away. There are 103 cabins, but only 18 full time residents in Sequoia Crest. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Only a few cabins are rented out, so most people you may meet will be cabin owners. You'll need your car to get there and your legs to hike. If you walk the 2 mile loop around Sequoia Crest's paved streets at sunset, you'll see Porterville's lights 6000' down in the San Joaquin Valley. Just walking (or driving) the paved streets of Sequoia Crest, you'll see many giant sequoias. Please be respectful of private property, especially near and around the giant sequoias, as we have had some vandalism in the forest lately. Guest AccessYou can use any winter clothing found in the cabin. Interaction with GuestsYou can call us from the cabin with any questions. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is peaceful & friendly. Getting AroundYou'll need your car to get there and your legs to hike. If you walk the 2 mile loop around Sequoia Crest's paved streets at sunset you'll see Porterville's lights 6000' down in the San Joaquin Valley. Other Things to NoteYou'll find a Sequoia Crest road and trail map in the cabin. The Alonzo Stagg Tree, Poppy Lake, Alder Creek, Hossack Meadow, Old Ski Hill, Native American "Granite Tubs" & trail to Jordan Peak are located on the map. Sequoia Crest and the Giant Sequoia National Monument are a great (free & not crowded) alternative to Sequoia National Park. It is not a place to stay if you want to go to Sequoia National Park unless you have time for the 3 hour drive to SNP. We are off of Hwy. 190. SNP is at the end of Hwy 198. You'll be able to see many giant sequoias in and around Sequoia Crest. There are other Giant Sequoia Groves within a half hour of the cabin too. You also should plan on shopping in Porterville for groceries if you don't bring your food with you. The closest restaurants are 20 minutes away at Pierpoint Springs & Camp Nelson.

Kick back on the deck of this mountain cabin and sip your morning coffee while taking in the majestic views of Slate Mountain. Or, watch for falling stars and search for constellations free of light and smog polution. The unobstructed views of the night sky are tremendous! You may plan your rock climbing trek or fishing expedition up the Tule River while sitting at the dining table. The comfortable couches are perfect to curl up with a novel in front of a fire as snow falls around this peaceful cabin before you head out sledding with the kids. You will love the five-minute walk to the Camp Nelson general store for an ice cream, a Nelson Burger from the Diner or the whole family can travel a half mile to the Pierpoint General Store and Restaurant for a meal that tastes like it was cooked at home. This perfectly located cabin is ideal for peaceful time away from cell phones, computers and the hustle and bustle of everyday life or merely a foray into the High Sierras to see the giant redwoods in the National Forest and the Trail of 100 Giants You can easily visit Sequoia and Kings Canyon on a day trip. However, once you are here you will appreciate the lack of tourists, tourist buses, and the solitude that comes with our quiet hamlet located in the Sequoia National Monument south of Sequoia and Kings Canyon. FANTASTIC LOCATION!!!! Private and Peaceful Detached Cabin. For someone who wants a true mountain experience, this is the real thing. Wonderful and rare opportunity to stay at high altitude in the Giant Sequoia National Monument with a private deck looking into a grove of Ponderosa Pine Trees. This cabin is NOT in the foothills, but is at 7200 feet, far enough into the monument to have easy access to pristine hiking and outdoor activities. 'Ponderosa' is a very small enclave of cabins at the top of a mountain range and is surrounded by National Forest land. This cabin is detached and private. SIDE NOTE ABOUT THE MONUMENT: The Giant Sequoia National Monument and the Sequoia National Park are not adjacent. The monument has a separate approach from the valley up to the mountains than the Park. Many prefer the monument as it is similar in topography as the Park without the traffic and crowds, but this cabin is not ideal for commuting to the National Park. Nearby are groves of Giant Sequoia Trees, (Freeman Creek trailhead 1.5 miles from cabin) stocked fishing at Peppermint Creek, waterfalls, world-class rock climbing and hiking at The Needles (trailhead is 2 miles away), Dome Rock (3.5 miles from cabin), and Trail of 100 Giants is 10.7 miles from cabin. Also on the mountain is a pack station that offers day rides into the Golden Trout Wilderness Area. The Ponderosa Lodge (with restaraunt, general store and bar) is approx. 1 mile away. The cabin has one upstairs bedroom (queen bed and one twin) and a large upstairs loft (three twins and queen), and a full sofa bed downstairs. Although number of beds can sleep more than six, the multiple beds are to accomodate different combinations of sleeping arrangements. Our maximum number of guests is 6 people at any one time. We rent out this cabin from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Please do not contact us regarding winter months, as we close the cabin down during that time. Keywords: Cabin
