A nest thermostat in the living room, and manual thermostat in the downstairs bedroom which controls the heat not only for the kitchen and bedroom downstairs but the upstairs as well. The Space(NOTE: For winter guests, the house is on a hill, so 4WD vehicles are advised. We do have a person to plow and sand the hill who lives nearby in case of emergencies.) Enjoy the lake views and peaceful surroundings from multiple indoor seating areas or on the large, wrap-around porch of this cozy, historic Victorian. A great writing retreat, family vacation or escape from life. The open floor plan makes it ideal for family gatherings and mingling. The retro kitchen has a four-burner stove, oven, microwave, both Keurig and 10-cup coffemaker, toaster, blender, toaster oven and dishwasher. Large first-floor living area with tons of seating and a 40" smart flat-screen TV (120 channels DISH network). Log into your Netflix and enjoy! Guest AccessThe only place on the premise we'd prefer guests not access is the basement. No, there are no skeletons or ghosts there. But it's an historic home with an unfinished basement. Besides, who wants to be in a basement when the gorgeous lake is so close? Interaction with GuestsI live nearby and work from my home, so I'm easily available. Happy to help! The NeighborhoodIt's country living at its finest, with very friendly neighbors. Many of the people living on the lake have been there for generations and treasure both the peacefulness and the people. Privacy is important as well as respecting that noise travels fast on the lake. Please be mindful of language, as it's a family setting. Getting AroundWe have no public transportation, but everything in the area is easy to find. Shops, post office, old-fashioned movie theater (tickets only $7.50), and an expansive market are a simple 15-minute drive. Other Things to NoteOur lake community is lovely and peaceful. As one of the three cleanest lakes in NYS, you'll soon realize why this lake is the best kept secret. Cell range: Verizon and Sprint work fine, but T-mobile gets no reception.

The SpaceSpend time exploring and enjoying the many gardens on the property from the apple orchard, Zen Garden, flower beds, promenade of giant pine trees, the great hillside lawn and the 5 acres of woodland. Relax in the spacious 3500sq ft home made for entertaining large groups of friends and family or a tranquil private getaway. There is a beautiful fireplace for cold evenings and comfy couches to snuggle on or read a good book, which you will find many of in the grand old library. The 9 foot long dining table seats 12 and the well stocked kitchen is made for feasting and dining. The home feels light and airy with large windows open to the beautiful views of the land in every room. Four large bedrooms, means there's plenty of room for everyone and we've made sure that each bed will give you best sleep you've ever had! And we are happy to convert the library into the fifth bedroom for larger groups. There are hammocks to contemplate on, swings on the apple trees for the kids or to feel free like a kid and many board games and outdoor games to keep everyone busy....we are parents so we know how important this is! The best part about this space....we think is watching the dazzling Hudson Valley sunsets on the hilltop of this great lawn. With the mountains as a backdrop and the tall trees surrounding the property, it is truly inspiring each time we see it. To top it off, this is also the area we have set up for a fire pit and outdoor dining, so you can watch the sun set whiles having a drink in one hand and s'mores in the other...cheers!
