The SpaceA bright, peaceful room designed for guests who enjoy sharing a room but not a bed. The antique beds with nice linens are meant to evoke a step back in time and an opportunity to unplug, take an afternoon nap, and read a good book. True to it's architectural era, this home has a small kitchen and one communal bathroom on the second floor with the bedrooms, and a 1/4 bath on the main floor. Guests can enjoy the many delightful spaces in this home, including the living room, dining room, porch and rear patio. Kitchen access is limited due to its small size, but storing a few items in the basement fridge or making quick, simple meals like cereal, sandwiches, pasta or beverages is possible. Guests are encouraged to schedule showering with their hosts and/or other guests. We love our guests, and enjoy interacting with them in order to vicariously enjoy and enhance their experience. So, this is your dance, and we will follow your lead. Some guests we never meet. Some guests become great friends. We work at being accommodating. Located on the edge and within a small, working commercial/residential district, the W.H. Bair House is within walking distance of Waite Park (yes, there is a white gazebo, and music Sunday evenings - sponsored by Canby Telcom), Parson's (Classic old pharmacy), Ebners (artisanal butcher shop), Retro Revival (We're kindred spirits with Aurora), Back Stop Grill (classic Sports Bar), Puddin' River Wine and Chocolate Bar (adorable and fun), Pappy's Greasy Spoon (nuf said), the Dahlia Theater (music, events) and the Antonia Ballroom (gotta love a Ballroom!). If you are going to explore the region, you will want a car. If you are into exploring the local culture by walking or road biking, you will not need a car. Transportation is available for day tours to wineries or shopping, biking destinations with/out ride leaders, pub or restaurant hopping, airport to and from Canby.... just let us know ASAP. Great bicycling country! There are train tracks 3 blocks away, so we do hear train whistles (yes, at night); sometimes there are events at the park (in the morning); our chickens may brag at their stupendous egg laying; and we have 3 indoor-outdoor cats. The SpaceThis gorgeous bungalow is located in a small town that is a 30 minute drive from PDX, downtown Portland, and Salem, and within a couple of hours drive to wine country, Mt. Hood and the beach. It is also road bike Heaven! We consider the porch our favorite part of the house during the summer. This sleeping porch is on the side of the house (wrap around porch) hidden from view by trees and shrubs so it is private, and it is a delightful space during the warm summer months. Access to the sleeping porch is open 24/7, while the front porch is communal. There is access to the house during the day. Kitchen access is limited due to its small size, but storing a few items in the fridge or making quick, simple meals like cereal, sandwiches or beverages is fine. Guests are encouraged to schedule showering with their host and/or other guests. We are delighted to interact with guests! In the summer we love to go tubing down the Molalla River, bike to Champoeg State Park, or go wine tasting. This is road bike Heaven! Portland is an easy 30 minute drive away, where food carts, brew pubs and events are happening. The house is located downtown, so just about everything is within walking distance, including restaurants, banks, the post office and shopping. Public transportation into Portland is available, but not convenient unless you have plenty of time. Great bicycling country! There are train tracks three blocks away, so we do hear train whistles (yes, at night), our chickens may brag about their stupendous egg laying, and we have a teenager, a dog and 3 cats. The space is filled with tons of natural light and has big windows that open for fresh air. It is generously stocked with guide books, hiking books and board games. Enjoy the sense of peace in the backyard, sip a glass or wine on the patio or enjoy the hot tub. The sky is quite dark at night. We have 2 creeks crossing the property and the frogs are very loud in the spring and summer. You might see an eagle or a red tailed hawk, or hear the coyotes howling at night. The SpaceLocation, location, location! The Stafford area of West Linn, Oregon, is prized for it's equestrian fields, it's location along The Willamette River, and open spaces. Our neighborhood lists an average home value of $1.6 million dollars, and when you visit us you will see why. Our home allows you to experience the quiet and scenery of the countryside, within 20-25 minutes of downtown Portland. The back-yard is lushly landscaped, with a 14x16 ft outdoor room, fire-pit and lawn area for lawn games. Guests have access to a full size refrigerator and Weber Grill, as well as the kitchen and non-private living areas, as well as the laundry room. The solar-heated pool opens in Late-April and is typically up to a comfortable temperature by mid-May (though it is dependant on weather). Throughout the summer, we keep the pool at 85-87 degrees, with swimming often lasting through the Labor-day weekend. (Please give us 48-72 hours notice for changes to pool temperature). There is a pool-side sunbathing area as well. Guest AccessGuests will have the "Beach Bedroom" complete with a king-size Tempurpedic bed. They will also have the guest bathroom. Interaction with GuestsWe can have as much or as little contact as our guests would like, however, we are sociable people and love having the opportunity to interact and make new friends from other areas and other countries. The NeighborhoodAlthough you will feel as though you are far from the hustle and bustle of any major city, within 20-30 minutes you can be dining at some of the nation's best restaurants in downtown Portland, (which has more restaurants than any other city in the country, per-capita). Perhaps you want to attend a production by The Oregon Symphony, The Oregon Ballet Theatre, or see a Broadway play (The Book of Mormon, to name just one recently sold-out tour) at The Gerding Theatre or Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, which are located just blocks away from one another. (Contact us in advance for assistance or advice with the planning of your itinerary). Portland is known for it's friendly population, excellent shopping, vibrant art scene and world-renowned wineries (The Dundee Valley is a short 30 minute drive away, and we would be pleased to act as your hosts for a wine-tour, or arrange one for you). If you are a lover of the outdoors, you can start the day with a walk in Forest Park (which at 5,157 acres is the nation's largest urban forest) then see the beautiful Japanese or Portland Rose Gardens. Each of these gardens bring you closer to the downtown area, where you can lunch at a Nob-Hill eatery, shop in The Pearl District or enjoy dinner in one of the best cities for restaurants. Enjoy golf? Our house looks out on the ninth-hole of a fun, low-key, public course, and with the home's location at the base of Pete's Mountain, we are less than five miles from The Oregon Golf Club and are with 40 minutes of many other wonderful PGA courses, such as Pumpkin Ridge. If you are looking for day trips, our home is only 90 minutes from Cannon Beach, Manzanita and Neskowin Beach (our favorites). If you love to fish, Mt. Hood is just over an hour away, and has many great lakes where you can experience fishing in Oregon. Getting AroundUber! We are a short 20 Minutes from everything. Other Things to NoteI worked in the hotel industry, and love to give suggestions, if asked.

My place is close to Aurora Historical District and the Pudding River, restaurants and dining, Willamette Valley wineries. You’ll love my place because of the camping/glamping in the country. We'll set up a fire for you and an outdoor toilet. You can hear the chickens in the morning and trains coming through the valley in the far off distance. Perfect for 2 adults and 1 or two kids to sleep in the upper deck of the Vanagon..
