The SpaceThe space is a private apartment in the basement of a bungalow in Chelsea, Quebec. The house is located 25 km North of downtown Ottawa (a 20 minute drive from Parliament Hill) on an acre of land surrounded by trees. It is very quiet and removed from the city. You have your own hallway space for hanging coats and storing hiking boots, skis, snowshoes and, well, shoes. The space has it's own electric heat, so you can control the temperature. It stays cool, even on the hottest summer days. There is wireless internet throughout the house and satellite television plus a DVD player in the room. Guest AccessYou have access to the kitchen, porch and living room as well as the entire property. The Gatineau River is a 15 minute walk away, where you can go swimming in the summer. There is a recreational cross country ski trail just down the road on the old rail line. Golf, tennis, skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, is all between 5 and 10 minutes drive from the property. Downtown Ottawa's Byward Market is a 20 minute drive. Interaction with GuestsI will be happy to give guests suggestions and information about local sites, activities and attractions. Chelsea and Ottawa both have lots to offer. I work during the day but we will be sharing the kitchen in the evening! My cat, Hazel, is always available to play. The NeighborhoodIt is quiet, surrounded by nature - the Gatineau River, Gatineau Park and natural landforms limit expansion and development. I have three neighbors and the trees provide privacy for all of us. Getting AroundThe public transport is Transcollines. There are two bus lines with stops close to the property. There are no busses on the weekends. The best form of transportation in the area is by car. Other Things to NoteFor safety reasons, winter tires are strongly recommended if you are driving in the winter. There are stairs at every access point in the house so if you have mobility problems, you may want to look elsewhere. During Fall Rhapsody in late September and early October, thousands of visitors flock to Gatineau Park and the village of Old Chelsea becomes gridlocked with traffic. This can also happen on warm, sunny long weekends - especially near the end of the summer. There is ample parking at the Visitor Centre even during these times and it is possible to access my property and avoid these traffic jams.

The SpaceQuaint Little Log Cabin for Two A unique off the grid experience, there really is nothing quite like it. "Described as "A Hidden Gem" With a wood fired Japanese Ofuro soaking tub, and a 7' by 8' wood fired log sauna!!! This cabin is for two persons only. We are located about 30 minutes from downtown Ottawa in the Gatineau Hills of Val des Monts Quebec, 230 acres, very private. The real Canadian experience, an authentic darling little 600 square foot log cabin in the middle of the woods by a tiny lake off the grid. You are the only one on the lake! The cabin comes fully equipped. Power is supplied by the sun. Two solar panels and 6 batteries supply enough power for your lights, music and chargers. There is a backup generator if the sun is not co-operating. The Kitchen is 7' by 11', with a small 4 burner propane stove and oven and mid size propane fridge with freezer. There is gravity fed running cold water at the sink in the summer which we collect in reservoirs from a underground source in the spring that dries up in the summer. Above the sink is a 2 gallon Berkey gravity fed water filter system for drinking water. Winter has a 7 gallon container on the counter, refilled from the spring at the side of the deck which runs all winter and what we use to fill the wood fired hot tub, fresh spring water for every guest. All your spices, sugar, salt, etc. are in the cupboards, lots of dishes, cutlery, coffee grinder, stovetop expresso maker, stovetop Milita drip coffee pot, pots and pans, almost everything you would have at your home. Feel free to ask if there is that specific item you need. The kitchen opens up to the back deck where you will find the BBQ and firewood. The main part of the cabin is 16' by 14', has a couch, oak table and chairs, wood stove and lots of games, puzzles and assortment of books. There is an ipod player and radio. Quaint decor and attention to detail. It is cozy, romantic and just delightful. You can see a list of games on our web site as well as the availability calendar (this is the only one I keep up to date) (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) LoneWolfForest as the rates also reflect differently if you book more than 2 days. Something I cant change in Airbnb A steep ladder/stairs leads upstairs to a large loft that has cathedral ceiling, skylight and lots of windows. There is a queen sized bed, linens provided, pine floors and desk, armoire and chest of drawers. Just a few feet away on the other side there is an unbelievable 2 person wood fired cedar soaking tub, even in the rain and snow it is sheer bliss to be sitting in under the stars. The lake is very small with pike, perch and catfish in it. It is a mud bottom, some rock and tea coloured. There are lots of cold spots as there are numerous underwater springs. There is a swim raft in the middle of the lake, a inflatable island, a couple of canoes, paddle boat and rowboat. There is a 20' wide rock shore that we swim from that goes out about 8' then drops to about 8' Enjoy bonfires by the waters edge or sit in the wood fired hot tub and star gaze. We have trails that we are slowly developing on our 230 acres for hiking in the summer. In the winter enjoy snowshoeing on the trails. Pets, yes we allow pets that have been treated with a flea product and well behaved. This guarantees that we can continue to allow pets. Getting There: We are 30 minutes from downtown Ottawa in the Perkins sector of Val des Monts in the Gatineau Hills of Quebec. In the summer you would meet at the trailhead. One of us will go with you to the cabin which is a mile from our home and drive through the locked gate to the trailhead (1 1/2 km). With our ATV and trailer we will help bring your things in 0.4 km to the lakes edge and then canoe or row 300' across the small lake to the cabin. If you have a dog you can also take (literally) the deer trail up and down and around the lake. In the winter you park at our home which is 1 1/2 km away and we take you to the cabin via skidoo and sled on a packed trail through the woods from behind our house or you could walk or snowshoe in. To walk the packed trail would take about 20 -30 minutes. When you are ready to leave the cabin, we will pick you up. Part of the winter rental is delivering you to the door, having the fire set for you in the morning before you arrive to take the chill out, as well as filling up the wood fired hot tub and setting the fire for you….your hot tub awaits Getting you there during freeze up and thaw....yet another element of adventure, typically mid November and mid March, depending on our unpredictable weather. When this happens we go around the lake. At the end of the lake where the water exits there is a small stream with a 16' foot bridge that is 2' wide where you can cross onto the Deer Trail. This narrow trail goes along the lake, up and down to the cabin. I will let you know when this might be the case. You would be all alone, in a log cabin by a crackling fire in the middle of the woods by the lakes (URL HIDDEN) a wood fired hot tub.... now how perfect is that!!! RATES..NOTE With Airbnb it does the pricing automatically. My rates are minimum 2 night $500....every night thereafter is an additional $140 . 3 nights $640 4 nights $780 up to one week $1200 Check LoneWolfForest for more info and pics and our up to date availability calendar Guest Access230 acres, trails, lake, snowshoes, wood fired log sauna, wood fired hot tub. The SpaceThis spacious room has a workspace at a desk with lovely view in the quiet, surrounding forest. This can be a 'home away from home' with cozy interior with art, books and antiques.Relax by the fire in the winter and walk down to the riverside in the summer. Fully equipped kitchen, shared bathroom and bbq on the deck. High speed internet. Washer & dryer. Ample parking. Situated between the Gatineau Park and the Gatineau River and only 15 minutes from downtown Ottawa. 8 km from Camp Fortune ski hill and 5 from Meech Lake this area is wonderful for outdoor enthusiasts: cross country skiing is just down the hill along the old railroad tracks; snowshoeing, hiking and swimming in Gatineau Park. The town of Wakefield is 17 km away where you can enjoy live music at the Black Sheep Inn, eat at Le Hibou or indulge at the Old Mill Spa and Restaurent. Old Chelsea is nearby with its pub and cafes. The Freshmart Grocery has a good selection of organic foods, wine & beer. Le Resto serves items produced locally at The Smokehouse. Les Fougeres Restaurant is a ten minute walk away, award winning, local, organic, modern European cuisine with fantastic takeout. Le Nordik Spa offers packages of bathes, saunas and massages. Guest AccessYou can have access to the kitchen to make your own meals. I often have a pot of tea of coffee on it the morning. There are plenty of herbal teas on the shelf and guests are welcome to make a pot. Interaction with GuestsI live here and sleep in the smaller 'den' bedroom. I may fly off to my activities, leaving you to curl up with a book or watch a movie (DVD's or videos) and depending on the people, we sometimes, cook a meal together, have a 'cuppa' or play a board game (there are lots in the credenza). When you have 'signed in' and have your own key, you can come and go as you please. The NeighborhoodIt is very private and quiet here. Neighbours are friendly but hardly visible, so we don't really need curtains. There are only 4 other houses on the road and it 'dead ends' so no through traffic. You will wake up thinking you have been sleeping in the woods. Getting AroundMost people arrive here by car and there is a parking spot in front of the house. Public transport is practically non-existent, although there are plans in the works. I send detailed directions as soon as guests have booked the reservation. Other Things to NoteWe are on a well and septic system, so we need to be a bit careful with water. Water is good to drink, but has lots of iron in it, rust forms in the bath and toilet and unless I use caustic products, which I try to avoid much as possible, so if it looks rusty and 'orange', it really is clean.

The SpaceThis cozy lakefront cedar log cottage is 35 minutes drive from downtown Ottawa on small and quiet Barnes Lake. It has a full kitchen, flush toilet, indoor and outdoor showers, a huge partially screened in deck, and a large dock with weed-free swimming. It is a peaceful, party-free lake perfect for bonfires, reading books, and getting in some sun and swimming. There is a very large network of hiking trails adjacent to the cottage, with other lakes to explore. It comes with a canoe, two kayaks and a Weber BBQ. There is a bedroom with a queen sized bed, two side tables with lamps, a window, dressers and a bench. There is also a pull-out sofa in the living room should you wish to sleep 4 - although we would not recommend it for anyone other than children as it is a small space. The kitchen is equipped with all the basics for cooking. There is a french press for coffee. Motor boats are not welcome and are a very rare sighting on the lake. We are not fisherman ourselves but lots of people do fish. The lake is stocked with trout and there are small and large mouth bass. SOME very well behaved pets are allowed. Please ask us about this before booking. Thanks!! PLEASE NOTE: This is a cottage. It has quirks and is not perfect. Sometimes the outside gets in. Occasionally the power goes out after a storm. The canoe has wandered off into the bay on it's own... etc. etc. We do our best to respond as quickly as possible to any unforeseen issues that may arise, but if you expect a hotel-like experience, please book elsewhere. Guest AccessYou have direct access via the lake-front property to the lake, with a dock to relax on and jump off for swimming! The lake is weed-free with fresh, amazingly clean water. There are kilometres and kilometres of nature trails just adjacent to the cottage. There is a fire pit overlooking the lake. There will be blankets and pillows for you but we ask that you bring your own sheets and towels. Thanks!! Interaction with GuestsWe own two cottages side by side. The cottage to the left will either be empty or with other quiet and respectful guests. On the right, is our lovely and very quiet neighbour. When arriving we, or my parents who also have a place on the lake down the road, will hopefully be there to greet you. If not, we will allow you to settle in yourselves and will come by to say hello shortly after your arrival or the next morning if you are coming in late. We ask that you send a text message to the number provided in the rental approximately an hour before your arrival. When you check out, if we are not there, you can simply leave the key and we will be by shortly thereafter. The door at the back is not accessible. Use the door up the stone steps.
