The SpaceWelcome to Canton, Michigan – the perfect location to be based for a great weekend (or more) of antiquing! Located a mile away from the Michigan Avenue exit off of I-275, you are centrally located to a wide variety of large antique malls, great consignment shops, as well as some excellent thrift stores. You are also a mere 15 minutes from Detroit Metro Airport (DTW), or about 25-30 minutes from downtown Detroit or Ann Arbor.
You will be staying in the master bedroom of my 2,000 square foot condo. The bedroom (located up one flight of stairs) features a comfortable queen size Sleep Number bed that can be adjusted to your comfort level, attached private bathroom with shower, and lovely display of Fenton glass baskets along with various other depression and elegant glass. Guest AccessYou will also have access to:
•A comfortable living room with fireplace and display cabinets filled with glass, along with a Yamaha baby grand player piano
•Full kitchen (decorated with Pyrex and Jadeite)
•Laundry room with washer and dryer
•Library with writing desk and a nice collection of glass reference books and cookbooks
•Outdoor deck overlooking a golf course
•Finished basement with projector to hook up to a laptop and watch movies or steam Amazon Prime or Netflix. Interaction with GuestsI'm happy to provide you with area information and anything else you need to make your stay pleasant. If you want evening conversation after a day out, great, or you can keep to yourself. Whatever you prefer.
Coffee and tea is always available. A light continental breakfast (typically yogurt, granola, fresh fruit) is available. The NeighborhoodThe condo complex is very quiet and is situated along a golf course and nature preserve.
Less than 5 minutes from Ikea - the only one in Michigan. Many other major retailers are located on Ford Road as well.
Lots of area restaurants within a few minutes drive, though they are mostly chains. You'll need to drive 10-15 minutes to other neighborhoods for more unique dining establishments. You will love downtown Plymouth or Northville. Getting AroundI'm about a 15 minute drive from DTW airport. Close, but the flight paths don't go over me, so very quiet.
Other transit options include Amtrak in either Dearborn or Ann Arbor.
You will definitely need a car to get around the Motor City! Other Things to NoteAs an avid glass collector of 15 years, I would be happy to provide you with all the information needed to make your antiquing trip a success. I can even create a custom itinerary for your trip, complete with restaurant recommendations and other activities, depending upon your interests.
I love to cook. Meal arrangements (premium breakfast, lunch or dinner) beyond the continental breakfast can be made at an additional cost. You'll be served off of my vintage dishes!
The home is occupied by me and my partner, along with two friendly short-hair cats. I have minor allergies and they do not bother me at all, plus I keep my home very clean. Absolutely no smoking is allowed in the home, or on the premises. While I’m a new host to Airbnb, I’ve stayed with several people and am excited to extend an invitation to stay with me!
While this listing was written with the antique collector in mind, anyone is welcome to stay here. With the Yamaha baby grand piano, this would also be a great spot for a musician too. As long as you are gay-friendly and cat-friendly, you are welcome!
