The cottage itself, is set in a private estate of 60-65 acres of indigenous temperate rain and eucalypt forest, full of wonderful wildlife: have seen koalas from the kitchen, and the cutest dark-chocolate brown wallabies from the living room. Also wombats, echidnas, wedge tail eagles, cockatoos, parakeets, and numerous other birds - the cottage has a great bird book for reference. The cottage is fully self contained with log fire, electric heating, air-conditioning, digital TV, DVD, Playstation 3, spa, shower, fully equipped kitchen including stove, oven, fridge & microwave, barbecue and clothes washing machine. The SpaceThe cottage is located in the heart of one of our beef properties. You will have bulls in the front paddock and cows EVERYWHERE. This is the prefect location if you are interested in surf and/or Golf. It is 25min from town but we can cook you a nice meal if you don't want to leave the comfort of the cottage ( I also run a catering business where I cook Portuguese food with King Island produce). A menu is available at the cottage. There are 3 bedrooms with one queen bed, one double bed and 2 single beds. There is also 2 sofa beds and 2 small fold out beds. A porta cot is also available. We have a kitchen with cooking equipment, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster and a coffee machine. Coffee, tea, sugar, olive oil and our chook eggs are free. The bathroom has a bath and sink and toilet is separate. There are also 2 sun rooms where you can enjoy a glass of wine with a farm view. The house is not new but has character and is clean. There are also some native guests in the frontyard that come for a visit every now and then (wallabies, native birds) We also have 3 hens and a rooster so you will never be alone and eggs are free but seasonal. We will have some complementary cheese at your arrival and in the fridge and you can also find some drinks and milk at a small charge. Guest AccessApart from the house you are welcome to visit Sam's Lagoon and its native birds. It is only a 3 min walk from the house. Feel free to feed the choocks, I am sure they will love it. Interaction with GuestsWe will be only a call away. We live just a couple of km up the road. I usually come to say Hello at your arrival or next day but I like to leave our guests alone and not being intrusive. I will also be happy to come in for a chat if you want to know more about King Island. We also run farm tours with a paddock to plate experience. Get in touch if you want more information The NeighborhoodNeighborhood?? What's that? Here you will enjoy the freedom of being loud (or not) because nobody will really care. You will be in the middle of nowhere! Well, there are some far away neighbours (like me) if you need a hand. Getting AroundOn King Island you will definitely need a rental car. No public transport is available. And probably a good idea to get a 4wd with bulbar as there are many wallabies on the roads. With a car there will be many places to visit including nearby beaches, Cape Wickham Lighthouse and new Golf Course, shipwrecks, Currie (main town) and many other tourist attractions. We will leave some pamphlets in the house with more information Other Things to NoteAs you might be very busy enjoying King Island, we also offer grocery pick up just for a small fee. We also offer cooked meals and lunches. We always have aged King Island Steak available if you are interested in trying the best beef in the world

The SpaceA 2 bed house with generously sized kitchen / living / dining area, perfectly located to offer relaxed views of all of the best of King Island's west coast environs. Guest AccessPretty much the whole house is at your disposal during your stay. Main entry is via the ground floor and up a spiral wooden staircase, or you can enter directly from the veranda. Interaction with GuestsYou have the house to yourselves for the duration of your stay, but we will be contactable if you need anything. Keys will be left in a secure location on site ready for your stay. The NeighborhoodThis is the closest house to Currie Harbour, with easy access to the beach, or a lovely walk along the coast. The main town is only a few minutes' drive away, and you're moments away from North Road which runs from town past the airport, King Island Dairy, and up to the north of the island. Getting AroundThere is no public transport on the island, so its down to you. We recommend either hiring a car from one of the two companies at the airport, or consider shipping your car over from Devonport or Melbourne with SeaRoad - this can be a much cheaper option if you're staying more than a couple of nights, but does take some coordination. Other Things to NoteThere is a cleaning fee added to all bookings, but if you are staying four nights or more, we will waive that fee. Simply send through your booking request as normal and we'll take the fee off as we accept the booking. We are making some improvements to the house at the moment, so there are only two bedrooms available. We are happy to offer a double bed and a single bed in the downstairs area for larger bookings. Not a bedroom as such, but very comfortable and with a toilet and shower available in the laundry, so no need to traipse upstairs in the middle of the night. All water at the house is tank water, so we ask you to be conservative when showering and toileting, especially during the summer, and also to boil water before drinking.

Surrounded by some of Australia’s most beautiful beaches, King Island imports the world’s best surfers and exports produce sought by the world’s top chefs. Succulent beef, rich gourmet cheese and crayfish plucked from the Island’s crystal clear waters are but three of the delicacies you can enjoy on your visit. While the prospect of unwinding in this quiet, peaceful paradise may be what attracts our visitors it is the people they meet while here who encourage their return. King Islanders are unbelievably friendly and welcoming. Getting AroundThere is no public transport or taxis, so hire a car before arrival and pick it up at the airport. Give us a call if you would like help with this. Other Things to NoteEverywhere you look on King Island fantastic food is being produced. Even when you’re strolling along the beach at sunset the crayfish, abalone and other assorted seafood is busy growing beneath the waves. More visible (unless you fancy going for a dive) are the cows lazing in the paddocks or lumbering towards the milking yards. The milk they produce is collected by the King Island Dairy and within a matter of hours is being transformed into one of the beautiful, creamy cheeses made at our local factory. You can taste a whole range of these cheeses, from soft, white brie to rich blue veined varieties such as Endeavour in the Fromagerie right next door to the factory. On your drive back to Currie you’ll pass Camp Creek Gardens. They produce 100% organic vegetables for King Island and you’ll often see Paul down there hunched over a seedling or sampling a strawberry. Much of their produce is used at The Long Table event in late summer which showcases the best of King Island’s varied produce.
