The SpaceCape Town has a lot of hustle and bustle and this flat is the perfect escape - high above the crowds, set back from all main roads, but close to everything you want to see. It is spacious, and bright, with unique views over the harbour, sea, Cape Town Stadium and Green Point. There are three bedrooms (two large doubles, one a small single) and also a sofa bed in the lounge, meaning the flat can comfortably take 5 people and could have 7 at a squeeze. Perfect for a family, bunch of friends, couple, solo business travels, or any combination of these. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the building's big green garden and large blue pool, use of wireless internet, and of course the private balcony. Sun yourself on the well kept lawns, dip in the pool, or have sun-downers on your balcony - the choice is yours. You will have the flat to yourselves. Some cupboards are locked, but each room has ample storage for guests' possessions. Interaction with GuestsI will personally welcome guests, show them around the flat and complex, explain how everything works, and then leave them in peace. I or a close friend will be available for any questions or assistance. I'd love to give you some pointers on the best things to do and places to visit. A cleaner will come in every couple of days, and that is included in the price of the rental. The NeighborhoodThis Green Point flat is ideally situated for quick access to central Cape Town, Sea Point, beaches, the V&A Waterfront and the Stadium (it's just a few steps from the stadium fan-walk). This is a safe area, well-lit, and with 24 hour security on the premises. There are great shops and cafes in walking distance - don't miss Giovanni's deli. The Sea Point promenade is just around the corner. You will definitely want to take a stroll along the amazing Cape Town sea front, as well as enjoy the quirky De Waterkant area, which is also just a five minute walk towards town. Almost everything in town is less than 5 minutes away by car. Sea Point, Clifton and Camps Bay beaches are also a short drive along the coast. Cycling is a breeze, with one of the best cycling routes in Cape town also passing at the bottom of the road. Other Things to NoteThere is a limited amount of parking for guests within the building. Most of the day you can get a space, but during busy periods it may be necessary to park outside, which is also watched over by the security guards and we have never had problems. For a small fee I can provide use of my garage which is also in the building.

By car the Waterfront is a five-minute drive, or a manageable 15-minute walk along the cobbled paths made for the 2010 World Cup. You can reach the cable car at Table Mountain or the beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton with a 10-minute taxi or drive. A secure parking garage with a dedicated parking bay allows easy access to the unique and stylish Cape-Victorian building. On the 7th (top) floor of the building is the modern finished and fully equipped Bree Street Loft. The loft is well suited for the leisurely holidaymaker or the busy business traveller/convention attendee. You will rest in comfort knowing there is 24-hour security on the premises. There are two bedrooms with queen sized beds on the bottom floor of the apartment. The master bedroom enjoys an en-suite corner bath, a walk-in closet and balcony. The room is also large and airy typical of traditional old style houses. There is a beautiful roof top terrace looking over the city where guests are welcome to enjoy a braai or just relax in the sun. Downstairs in the courtyard with its resident bunny, next to the fever tree and tranquil fountain, there is a herb garden and an outdoor shower for washing off the salt after a swim in the Atlantic which is only 5 minutes’ drive away. The neighborhood is very central and safe for walking around. If you are feeling like experiencing Cape Town's vibrant night life, the legendary long street bustling with night clubs, restaurants and bars is less than a five minute walk away. The luxurious bathroom has both bath and shower, with free toiletries and plenty of soft fluffy towels. The NeighborhoodThe apartment borders De Waterkant Village, the Bo Kaap and the City Centre. Each within spitting distance, and each with their own unique characters. Spend your day exploring De Waterkant village, this hip and trendy neighbourhood oozes with style and sophistication. Explore the cobbled streets, and marvel at the Dutch style colourful houses with their pretty flower boxes and tree lined pavements. Browse through the famous Cape Quarter with its abundance of boutique shops, restaurants, bars, galleries, and European style cafes. Take a peak in the design shops, Cape Town wasn’t named the 2014 design capital for nothing! Alternatively, wander over to Heritage Square, the latest new spot for all things cool and trendy, not to mention the revival of Bree Street with its galleries, café’s and excellent restaurants that will have the foodies among you drooling! This is where it is happening with the locals! Don’t miss the 1st Thursday of the month, where food trucks gather in Heritage Square and the shops and galleries throw their doors open until late, blessing you with free wine and nibbles. This has become quite the social event in Cape Town. Directly opposite the apartment, you can walk up Rose Street and into the heart of the Bo Kaap. Step back in time, and enjoy wandering around this historical Cape Malay area with its beautiful coloured houses. Don’t forget to be finished in time to walk up to Signal Hill for the firing of the noon gun! The fan walk that was constructed for the FIFA World Cup runs parallel to the apartment block, and is the place to be if there are any street festivals such as Gay Pride, and the Cape Town festival. They all head this way, so you are in the perfect spot to join the festivities. Getting AroundThe new MYCiti buses are a great way to get around if you don't want to hire a car. The Spacewonderful flat in the Rockwell building with security and NOT at the side where at night there is the noise of the bars. The Waterkant is one of the most thought after parts of Cape Town and it feels like a village within the big town with CBD, Artscape, CTICC and Stadion within minutes. This spacious apartment has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a living room, a complete kitchen which is open to the living room and a nice balcony. It has a view over the harbour (and a bit of Table Mountain). Secure parking under the building included. A local Host will welcome you. There is an airco in the living room and in both bedrooms. Bed linen and towels are provided. There is a parking bay in the underground parking of the building which is included in the rental. The Waterkant area has a fantastic mixture of trendy bars and shops together with super restaurants. A few minutes to the Central Business District and a few minutes to the New Stadion (where you will also find The Waterfront, a shopping area very different to The Waterkant but with almost all national and international shops and many attractions like the starting point for the trip to Robben Island. Just a few blocks away from the apartment is the Bo-Kaap area. A big plus of the apartment and the area is the safety. The SpaceThe "Mutual Building" in which you will be staying is a famous example of art deco (check it out on Wikipedia!) with neo-classical features, that is known internationally and has been the subject of academic research. The high ceilings, ornate marble trims and original artwork all reflect the ambitions of the original owners: The South African Mutual Life Assurance Society, now known simply as the "Old Mutual". This apartment has the advantage of exclusive access to a south-facing balcony, looking at Table Mountain, the cityscape, and the distant Hottentots Holland mountains. Inside, the apartment is luxurious for two, with the private ensuite bedroom and a multi-level living space; the mezzanine level has a curtained, comfortable king-sized sofa bed that can accommodate two more; a small side room with a single bed can accommodate yet one more guest or can be used as a dressing room. The apartment has examples of original 1940s furniture and comfortable and comprehensively restored art deco seating in the living area. Despite this, all the modern facilities you might require are there. Please be aware that you are thinking of staying right in the city centre, and so there is some noise at night. However, the apartment is at the back of the building so it does not suffer noise from busy Darling Street just outside the main door. We have recently finished installing air conditioning, which cools (and heats) the entire apartment. On the other hand, a hot summer day with balmy evenings is part of the Cape Town experience! Guest AccessThe common areas of the building include the front and side entrance, the atrium, and the lifts. The marble-decorated banking hall and the Frescoe Room (check this out on Wikipedia - just search there for "Mutual Building") are private but can be opened by special arrangement. The Directors Suite has recently been acquired by a private owner. There is a gymnasium on the first level and the management office is on Mezzanine level "B" if you have any problems with the building itself. You have one parking place if you require it, right at the bottom of the ramp leading down to the basement. But note that there is insufficient headroom for a tall SUV - compacts are OK. But see notes elsewhere about the proximity of local attractions, you don't really need a car while you are staying at our apartment unless you want to use it as a base for touring (which is OK! you will pass the heavy traffic trying to get into the city as you drive out, and vice versa!). Interaction with GuestsWe live about one hour's drive north of Cape Town but we will meet all guests at the apartment; we do not normally offer to meet at the airport as we do not have a large vehicle - there are plenty of taxis and there is an economical shuttle bus which gets you within four or five blocks of our building, at the terminus at the Civic Centre. If you would like a walking tour of the city centre, Ann will be pleased to assist (depending on other commitments). She has qualified as an official tourism guide to the city and the winelands (specialising in wine). We enjoy 4x4 outings, and if you ever dreamt of driving (literally!) to the top of a mountain we can assist you there. The Matroosberg rises to (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)ft) and there is a long 4x4 trail right to the top. That's just one idea! The NeighborhoodCape Town city centre is a vibrant place during the day, and has entertainment for all during the evening. A wide choice of restaurants, shops and facilities. Just watch out for the famous South-Easter wind, known locally as the "Cape Doctor", because it can REALLY blow hard. As compensation, it brings the equally famous "Table cloth" to table mountain, and when it blows it is well worth a ride to the cable car station to get close to the billowing clouds! Getting AroundBeing absolutely central, just opposite the main Cape Town post office, you will be within walking distance of all the main city attractions: the shops, the railroad station, the historical castle, Greenmarket Square and its popular market, Long Street and all its clubs pubs and restaurants, places of worship, and our favourite: the "Company's Garden", originally the source of fresh vegetables for passing sailing ships on their way to the spice islands of the orient. The hop-on hop-off buses are within easy walking distance, and are unquestionably the best way to get around in the first instance. You should not be too concerned about public safety in Cape Town if you know how cities work. We regularly walk around the city during the day and the evening, and provided that you take reasonable care, as you would in any other big city, you will be fine. Other Things to NoteThe apartment will be cleaned and beds will be made before you arrive. There are plenty of towels and bathroom basics . Please note that the apartment is fully serviced every Thursday, between about 0830 and 1330. If you are coming for a long stay, bed linen and towels will be changed then. But there is a washing machine and dishwasher, so you should be able to keep clean and organised in the interim. There is a small wall safe in the bedroom where you can secure your cash and valuables while you are out in town. Please also note that the internet access works on a "data bundle" basis, with a nominal cost to guests per Gigabyte. You can pre-arrange this with us if you are concerned about having internet access as soon as you arrive.
