The SpaceThe apartment has private access, two bedrooms, living area, bathroom, small kitchen, and an outdoor space with table and chairs to enjoy the ever-changing views across Otago Harbour. A heat pump keeps the place warm in winter and cool in summer.
The living area has a small dining table (seats four) and two settees. There is a flat-screen TV with DVD player, and we also have an eclectic collection of films should you wish to borrow something. You have full unlimited access to the Internet via wireless.
The main bedroom has a double bed and the second has two king singles. We can also provide two single trundle beds, which can be set up in the living area, should you wish to sleep one, or two, extra people.
In the kitchen area, you will find a refrigerator, a small pizza oven/grill, a microwave, an electric frying pan, toaster, kettle, plates, cups, glasses, and cutlery ... coffee, tea, sugar, and milk are provided.
The bathroom has underfloor heating and a heated towel rail ... towels, soap, and a hair dryer are provided. Guest AccessYou access the apartment through your own door into the kitchen area.
Should you need wheelchair access, you can get into the apartment through our garage.
The shower is a wet area so also wheelchair friendly. Interaction with GuestsWe are upstairs and are happy to help you with any questions you may have about the area and what to do ... otherwise you can enjoy the space undisturbed. The NeighborhoodWe are 10 km from the beautiful beaches at Aramoana, 2 km from Port Chalmers, just 12 km from Dunedin City Centre, and Carey’s Bay Historic Hotel, with its superb restaurant, is just a 10-minute walk away.
Explore Port Chalmers and you’ll discover a vibrant village with a wide range of art and culture from potters and sculptors to painters, musicians, jewellers and fashion designers.
Supporting this creative community is an eclectic mix of galleries, design boutiques, antique stores, cafes and restaurants, many of which are housed in the port’s original historic buildings.
By car, cycling, on foot or by horseback, Port Chalmers and the surrounding bays offer dramatic views of Otago’s harbour and coastal landscape. The natural deep-water port is a prime salmon fishing spot, and the harbour’s sheltered bays are perfect for kayaking and rowing.
Just fifteen minutes’ drive to the south or north, and you’ll find isolated white sand beaches sweeping around the Pacific coastline. Or you can head up the hill road above Port for spectacular views of the harbour and visit the native wildlife sanctuary of Orokonui, where you can have a coffee and discover native birds.
