The supermarket is around the corner, next to the Cinema Nova. Be sure to check out Brunetti's, Lygon Street cafes and restaurants. Carlton Gardens is very close, as is the Melbourne Museum, IMAX, Carlton Exhibition Centre and Melbourne Zoo. The area is amidst wonderful local pubs, art galleries, parks, live music venues and decent architecture.
The free tourist shuttle is around the corner on Lygon Street, which departs every 20 minutes. There is a short walk to trendy Brunswick Street, Fitzroy or Gertrude Street through the Carlton Gardens.
There is so much to offer in Carlton you could spend most of your time getting around on foot, but any tram on Swanston Street will take you straight into the city.
