The SpaceThis light and airy bedroom is in a 112-year old California bungalow on a very private, one acre property. It is closed off from the main house and has a separate entry to the outdoors. The queen bed will accommodate one or two people. There is an electric kettle for tea and coffee (provided) and a mini-fridge. There is also a small desk and a bureau. There is a TV and a selection of DVDs to watch but no cable. There is WIFI. Guest AccessGuests have access to their own bedroom and private bathroom, separate from the rest of the house. There are numerous outdoor sitting areas, hammocks, and a boules court. There is an outdoor shower and beach towels, chairs, and an umbrella available to use. Interaction with GuestsI am available as needed and am here at home most of the time. I have lived in the area for more than 25 years and can help arrange all types of activities, including hiking, biking, horseback riding, kayaking, standup paddling, wine tasting, beer tasting, cultural activities, and touring from Ojai to Santa Ynez. I offer coupons for wine tasting in the famous Santa Ynez Valley and provide the latest tourist magazines from surrounding areas, including Carpinteria, Santa Ynez, and Ojai. Santa Barbara is just 10 miles up the road.
I am a painter and an art teacher, and I am happy to invite guests to visit my studio on the premises if they are interested. The NeighborhoodNestled between avocado orchards and a flower nursery, the property is well off the road and is very private. There are many orchards and flower farms in the area, and the Santa Barbara Polo Club is only a mile away. Polo matches are open to the public in season. There are wonderful hiking trails close by and the opportunity to walk for miles on our beautiful beaches. You might catch a glimpse of dolphins, whales, or sea lions along the coast, or visit the local salt marsh reserve to spot many birds, including herons, egrets, and cormorants. Getting AroundThe closest beach is a short drive (3 minutes) and there are some shops and restaurants there. Carpinteria is about 5 minutes away, and Santa Barbara is 10-20 minutes (depending on traffic). The bus line to Santa Barbara is less than a mile walk from the house. Other Things to NoteI have two large dogs, two cats and 10 chickens, all very friendly. I have a bee hive, well away from the house. The bees are quite docile (no one has been stung here other than the dog).
