I was born in Dominica but moved with my family to Barbados for many years. With a deep yearning to return to my homeland, Dominica - because of my love of Nature and to have the freedom of running my own business, I decided to return in late 2010.
With a love for arts & crafts, and this desire for job freedom, I started my own jewelry business - making unique hand made jewelry pieces mainly in copper, brass and beach glass.
My degree in Hotel Management served as a good background when, a few years later, came the management of my brother's property, Bluemoon Cottage and Studio for short term vacation rentals.
I enjoy the beautiful nature of Dominica, simple living as well as meeting and welcoming our guests at Bluemoon Cottage & Studio.
Looking forward to meeting you...
Kathy The NeighborhoodBluemoon Cottage and Studio is located towards the south-western end of the island at an altitude of 1,000 ft. (300 m.) near the village of Morne Prosper, in an area well known for its production of vegetables and kitchen herbs, lush green vegetation and cool breezes. Average daytime temperatures generally vary from 24 °C (75.2 °F) in January to 30 °C (86 °F) in June.
A five-minute walk to the east will bring you to Segment 3 of the
Waitikubuli National Hiking Trail, while within a ten-minute
drive you’ll be able to bask in the hot Sulphur Springs.
View the twin Trafalgar Falls… Trafalgar Falls dominica
Swim the Ti Trou Gorge…
If you enjoy kayaking, you’re a fifteen-minute drive away from the Freshwater Lake. The Boiling Lake, the second largest boiling lake in the world, awaits at the distance of a fifteen-minute drive and a three-hour hike.
Dominica is home to a small group of sperm whales which live in the area year-round and can be sighted regularly.
Wherever you are on the island, you’ll see exotic birds. Dominica is also home to 172 species of birds, including four species of
hummingbird, broad-winged hawks, yellow-crowned night herons, brown tremblers and the Sisserou Parrot which is the National Bird
and indigenous to Dominica.
Welcome to the magic of Dominica. Getting AroundBluemoon is located very near to bus route, directly to the capital city Roseau.
The Dominica bus system is privately owned minivans, very simple, with few fixed timings. Buses in our area don't run on Sunday.
For easier getting around we would recommend renting a car or using taxis.
We can arrange for a taxi to meet you at the Douglas-Charles Airport for the one-hour 15 minute trip (52 km/32 miles) home to Bluemoon at a reduced 'family' price of US$ 37 if one person, and US$ 30 per person if shared. Or, from the Roseau Ferry Terminal for the 10-15 minute ride home at US$ 12 (15 mins/9 km/6 mles).
We would be happy to recommend a car rental agency—you can have a rental car ready for you on arrival at the airport or ferry: QBVehicles, Roadrunner, Courtesy etc.
ARRIVAL INFORMATION & DIRECTIONS
Will you be renting a car? If so, let me know your approximate time of arrival at Bluemoon.
If not, please let me know your arrival time in Dominica, and if you would you like me to arrange a taxi from the airport or Roseau Ferry to Bluemoon.
Bluemoon Cottage & Studio is located in the village of Morne Prosper, about 10-15 minutes drive (9 km) from Capital, Roseau. Take the Roseau Valley Rd. East from Roseau (pass the Botanical Gardens on the right and cross the Bath Estate bridge) keep driving until you come to a major Y in the road. The road to Morne Prosper is on the right (road to Tragfalgar is on the left).
Cross the Copthall bridge (second bridge) and drive until you get to a sign "Petit Paradis" at a concrete bus shelter on the right. Turn right here and continue up hill to Morne Prosper. When you get to Morne Prosper, the first concrete bus stop shelter on the right-hand side is a yellowish-green colour. From that bus stop, the house is the 5th driveway on the right with a recessed, dark green wooden gate (you will pass two dirt and two paved driveways on the right). It will be the driveway after the one with a white wooden gate (recessed).
(If your are coming from the Ferry Terminal, travel south and turn left at the Royal Bank of Canada on to King George V St. Keep driving due East on King George V St. and it becomes the Roseau Valley Rd.)

Kathy Other Things to NoteThough located on a bus route, it is recommended that you rent a car or use a taxi if you want to explore the island.
The Studio and Cottage are separate units but if both happen to be occupied at the same time, then the very large 270 sq ft - 27 ft x 10 ft (25 sq m -(URL HIDDEN)m) verandah is divided in half by a full, opaque screen. Otherwise, the full space is available.
