The SpaceThe island is a great place to bicycle and guests with kayaks can launch across the street. A continental breakfast will be in the fridge for your first morning. The space fits a couple the best. There is a queen bed in the bedroom and a convertible couch in the living room, with a $10 extra fee for its use. The apartment in on a second floor and there is an electric chair up the steps for those who need it. Guest AccessGuests are welcome to visit the gardens, hoop houses, and chickens. Please close any gates you open. Small dog breeds are welcome. Please keep dogs on leash around our property. Chicken fences are not electrified. Check-in: 2 pm Check-out: 11 am Interaction with GuestsWe're happy to recommend favorite restaurants, hikes, beaches and historic locations and museums within an hour of our location. The NeighborhoodPuget Island is a beautiful rural location in the middle of the Columbia River. All islands west of us are part of national refuges. There are boat launches on the island and in Cathlamet, used by many fishers. Nearby sloughs and the river itself are used by kayakers who can launch across from our house. We are bird watchers and the island is part of a yearly bird count each December when the area is full of wintering birds. Getting AroundThere is a delightful 12 car ferry from Westport Oregon to Puget Island. It costs $5 one way, and leaves Oregon at quarter past the hour, from 6:15 to 10:15 pm. The old ferry was recently replaced with a new one that has been having minor problems, frequently. To be sure ferry is running, please call (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN), the Wahkiakum County sheriff's dispatcher and ask about the ferry. We have only a weekly newspaper, so if the ferry is broken down we may not know about it. The ferry cuts off about 1/2 hour driving time compared to "driving around" to Astoria via the WA side and taking the Astoria-Meglar bridge. The ferry is not needed to reach our farm; you can arrive off I-5, via route 30 and take a bridge between Cathlamet and Puget Island. Other Things to NoteWe have a page of things to do and see within and hour and a half driving time of here. You can request us to email this to you before your visit. The price includes 9% WA lodging tax.

The NeighborhoodPuget Island is a lovely, serene island in the Lower Columbia River, about 50 miles downstream from Portland, OR and about 25 miles upstream from Astoria, OR. Our closest 'big' town is Longview, WA. Cathlamet is a tiny town, located in tiny Wahkiakum County. Our claim to fame is we have no stoplights in our county! There is a bridge from Cathlamet to the island and a small ferry from the island to Oregon. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation in Wahkiakum County. Getting around the island is easily done on foot or bicycle. Cathlamet is about 3 miles from our guest cottage. Other Things to NoteTo clarify pricing: We charge $10/additional guest after the first two and $10/pet. The basic fee is $140/night (including taxes). If you stay 5-7 nights the fee is $700 (for two, including taxes). When you book, we will give you the total for your visit if it's different from the basic. Airbnb does not allow for us putting all this in their pricing section. Thank you for your understanding. :)

The SpaceIts a big home, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath (you could have access to all except the back bedroom and bathroom). We've owned the place for about 10 years and completely gutted the house at that time so everythings relatively new inside. Its one story and the best part is the breathtaking view. I could sit out on our deck, or on the couch in front of our fireplace, for hours just taking it all in. There's a long drive way and lots of grassy yard surrounding it so it's very private as well. Guest AccessYou'll have access to everything except the third bedroom and bathroom in the back of the house (my parents will be utilizing them during your stay, with their own separate entryway). The large deck with breathtaking view, master bedroom, guest bedroom, large and open living and dining rooms as well as the kitchen will be all yours. The master bedroom has its own full bathroom with shower and jacuzzi tub and there's another half-bathroom (no shower/tub) in the hallway for your convenience. Interaction with GuestsI'll most likely be away during your stay. You can interact with my parents as much or as little as you'd like while you're here. They'll probably be here to welcome you to their home and answer any questions that come up. They're a sweet couple, in their 70's and married 53 years! My dad worked for United Airlines 37 years so we've all spent our lives traveling around the world on his travel benefits. My mom was an oncology nurse most of her career. We have one cute dog, Moose -- he's a Boykin, and will be excited to see you. My dad loves fishing and my mom loves crossword puzzles and BINGO. They also both love hosting guests and ensuring guests are as comfortable as possible. They'll take pride in making sure your stay is not only enjoyable but memorable and special. Other Things to NoteNote: We prefer not to have guests under the age of 14, even if they're accompanied by adults. Thank you for your understanding.

The SpaceThere are two bedrooms, one bathroom, living area with deck, lots of windows, remodeled kitchen. There is a washer and dryer, internet access. Phone service is sketchy as it is out of town in a valley. There is a spot in the backyard that has clear service. Don't depend on it in the house. There is a charcoal bbq on the patio. This is an older home with 'old country' moisture smell to it. I have replaced all the installation, skimmed, textured and painted. It continues to have an 'old house' smell. Guest AccessYou will have access to the whole house as I do not rent it when I am in town. There is a carport for easy entry in the rain. Interaction with GuestsI will not be there so there is no interaction at the home itself. If you need anything or have questions, I will email, speak to guests by phone, if necessary. The NeighborhoodQuiet, country living, close to the Columbia River. 1 hour drive to Warrenton / Astoria and the Oregon beaches. Fenced property for animals to run. There is a pond on the property, a creek across the street and the home is surrounded by forest and farmland. Getting AroundThere is no public transit to the house. Cathlamet is a small town with only a couple restaurants and brewpub. You can walk to most everything once you've parked. The ferry to the other side of the river is $5 per car and quite an experience. This gets you to Astoria quicker than the Washington side or makes for a great loop drive. Other Things to NoteKayaking, fishing, hunting, hiking.
