DeMotte is conveniently located in a quiet area with lots of nature to enjoy, but close to two great cities- Chicago and Indianapolis.
At the House:
Enjoy the woods! Step out the backdoor and take a path through the woods, which leads back past a pasture, through more woods, and circles around through beautiful nature views. You are also welcome to use the bikes located on the East side of the garage.
If you are looking for something close by, the Dairy Adventure and Hog Adventure at Fair Oaks Farms is a 15 minute drive away. They have a great restaurant, cafe, and an adventure and learning park. Kids and adults can see what life on a dairy and hog farm is like. We also have a few great, unique second hand boutiques and several locally-owned coffee shops and restaurants. Sandy Pines Golf Course is just around the corner from the house and is one of the best golf courses in the United States and very reasonably priced! If you don't golf, you can enjoy the SP19 restaurant located on the course.
Take a car or the SouthShore Train Line to Chicago for the day! Enjoy the free parks- Millennium Park, Maggie Daley Park, Grant Park, The Bean, and Navy Pier! Or spend the day at The Museum of Science and Industry, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Shedd Aquarium, The Field Museum of National History, or Lincoln Park Zoo. If the whether is nice a walk along the Chicago Lake Front Shore is thoroughly enjoyable especially when you stop to eat our famous deep dish pizza at Ginos or Digiornos. Chicago almost always has some kind of festival going on, so look up the dates you will be there and stop in for the party.
Spend the day in Indianapolis- a beautiful city with countless excellent, unique, locally owned restaurants, cafes, and shops. Spend the day at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, the Zoo, or walking around the various War Memorials. Enjoy White River State Park or any of the six cultural districts in Indianapolis like Broad Ripple. Getting AroundA car is the most convenient way to travel in this area. Free parking provided and over 6 paved parking spots available. (Unlimited parking available in the field in front of the house). Other Things to NoteFruit, oatmeal, cereal, milk, coffee, and tea will be provided for continental breakfasts, but you will need to serve yourself.
You are welcome to use the kitchen- fridge, stove, dishes, pots, pans, and condiments. Feel free to look through the cabinets to find the appropriate dishes, or ask for anything specific.
