The SpaceAn eco-home, the solar-powered compound is comprised of 4 separate buildings: 3 sleeping cabinas each with private gardens, and one large common house with kitchen, dining and living combined, sleeping loft and a pool. Lots of peace and privacy + great common space for hanging together. Soaring veranda w/ delicious breezes and killer view of sea & sunsets! Guest AccessGuests are invited to enjoy the whole property, and to explore the farm with its gardens, fruit trees, waterfalls and rainforest swimming hole, goat and chickens. Situated between inland San Isidro and coastal Dominical, the road through our town is one of the best in CR. A 1.4 km unpaved secondary road leads you to this jungle paradise. Interaction with GuestsThe house is always appreciated for its privacy but should the need arise, our caretakers (who live at the farm entrance) are almost always reachable. They are a lovely, honest, responsible Tico couple with 2 little girls. From December-May the owners live elsewhere on the farm and are happy to greet you and assist. They will provide a written guide to the house and region. The NeighborhoodThis region attracts nature lovers and has been developed (such as it is) with respect. Yoga and Qi Gong classes are available, massage, flying trapeze lessons, rappelling and rock climbing, rafting, horse-back riding, etc. Our neighbor Dylan runs the best surf school in Dominical(Sunset surf (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)). Don't miss our community farmers' market every Tuesday with organic produce and crafts! is a highlight. Getting AroundA 4X4 isn't strictly necessary during the dry season, but is generally a good idea whenever exploring Costa Rica. I would highly recommend renting a car in order to fully take advantage of your vacation. If you must do without a car, there is bus service at the top of our road. This could be an option if you want to rest and settle down in a kind of retreat. Our written guide tells how to travel from the airport; there are several options: $175 taxi,$7 bus ride leaving hourly from Musoc station in San Jose; or renting a car at the SJ airport or in near our home with Brunca rent-a-car in San Isidro. Other Things to NoteThis is a birder's paradise! The biodiversity is astounding and the climate delicious, not as sweltering as the coast with lovely mountain breezes. The sea is a gorgeous 30 minute drive away. The local community of ex-pats and Ticos is vibrant with many artists, healers and permaculturists. There are stellar eco-adventures available nearby, and fabulous treks right out the door. There is a lady called Diana that will cater to your taste delicious upscale food: (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) There is a $400 security deposit that will be given back to you on the last day of your stay.

The SpaceIncredible spot, beautifull and accessible. It is not the jungle (less humid, less noisy), it is not the beach (cooler and more private), and it is located between the sea and San Isidro del General, the closest city, where you can buy anything. On you way toward the sea or the city, there are stores offering fresh fruits and vegetables, and very good restaurants. Guest AccessSince we rent when we are not in the house, it is Maria and Jose, the caretakers of the property, who welcome the guests and show them around. They also can solve problems (if there is any). Maria does the laundry (3$/h); she can also do some cleaning for you, if you want. Interaction with GuestsWhen people make a reservation, I send a file containing the precise location of the house and the way to get to it, pertinent infos about it and about the surrounding area. The NeighborhoodFrom the house, you see the landscape only, a serie of mountains that go to the Pacific ocean. No neighbour so to speak. Maria, Jose and their pretty daugther, Samanta, live on the property, but you do not see their house. Getting AroundTo get to the house, you have only 2 km of dirt road, well maintained throughout the year. All the same, you better have a 4X4 (as everywhere in Costa Rica). Other Things to NoteWe are ecofriendly, and we ask our tenants to buy "green" products, if they have to. There are some in San Isidro grocery stores. We welcome animals, but not on the couch or the beds, please, since we are allergic to dogs and cats.

The SpaceLarge house with 3 levels, main living space has large kitchen/living room, wrap around porch, two bedrooms, and bathroom. Loft has bed and bathroom with jacuzzi tub. Lower covered patio area has screened bedroom with bunkbeds and full size bed. Bathroom a few steps away. Outdoor hot water shower and covered area with picnic table, chairs, and benches. Guest AccessGuest may explore grounds and surrounding countryside. Hiking trails lead to rivers, creeks and waterfalls. May use sauna and yoga pavilion. It takes approximately 30 minutes to drive to the beach at Dominical Interaction with GuestsWe will not be here, we are in the US. Our property manager, Jane, can be called if there is a problem. The NeighborhoodRural area with friendly helpful neighbors. Our groundskeeper can take you on a horseback adventure through the surrounding countryside. We are on a dead end road, not many people around, area seems safe except for the unknowns of a jungle environment. Two miles up the hill, about a 10-15 minute drive, there are a few small restaurants and a convenience store. On Tuesdays there is an "organic" farmers market there. Getting AroundYou need a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get here. We are an hour hike uphill to the bus stop. Without a vehicle you will have difficulties. A cab to town will cost about $20+. Other Things to NoteThis is a wild place, full of nature, the unknown. It is not a resort. Please be sure you are comfortable with that. Things can happen, the power goes out, the internet stops working, an army of ants comes through. Adventuresome people only need apply. May not be safe for small children unless closely supervised. Also the oven currently is not working, unable to get the needed part. There is a toaster oven to use instead. The burners on the stove work.

If the garden guest rooms are not needed they remain closed - should you choose to occupy them, there is a $39 per night charge. They are never rented to another party during your stay. Small children need constant supervision as the pool is open access and gardens are not fenced in Interaction with GuestsOur concierge Pablo is at your service throughout your stay. He is there each morning to cook breakfast and is happy to help arrange the days activities as well, do shopping, coordinate meals/cooks, etc The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is quiet and safe. Feel free to walk as far as you like on the country roads. Getting AroundYou will need your own 4x4 transportation. Many guests arrive on the airport shuttle van and have a rental vehicle sent up to the house from Dominical the day after they arrive. There is public bus service on the main highway but it only runs a few times per day. Our staff is happy to run you up to the highway in our pickup truck to catch the bus to town or the beach. The walk back to the house from the main road is about 20 minutes and downhill the whole way. Other Things to NotePlease contact Pablo with your flight information so that he will know what time to expect your arrival at the property. Late arrivals no problem. THE PLACE - It has everything you want from Costa Rica: plus peace, coolness during the nights, intimacy, sense of space and security, breathtaking landscape all around the property. THE HOUSE: Charming, seated on a hilltop in a beautiful mountainous area, in a very private and quiet property. In the distance, you can admire the splendid sunsets on the Pacific ocean. Il is furnished and fully equipped with everything needed for a perfect stay. It can accommodate a couple or two, or a family with two children. The kitchen-living room area is very spacious and has large door and window openings on all sides. It is also appropriate for a wheelchair. The bedroom on the first floor is connected to the bathroom, the other bedroom is in the mezzanine, both have a queen bed. The sofa can be used as extra bed. There is a safe closet space for your passports and other valuables. IMPORTANT : At that elevation (2000 feet), there is always a soft breeze so it is never too hot during the day. Nights are cool which makes sleeping easy and restfull. That is why we do not have air conditioning, we simply do not need it. There are hardly any insects around in the dry season, except for butterflies, but you are in nature, so everything is alive around you. You will probably see exotic birds such as toucans, eagles and parrots in the backyard, to name a few. And you could hear howling monkeys at night, a few meters from the house. DRIVING TO THE PROPERTY - San Isidro is the largest city in southern Costa Rica; it is 3 hours away from San José and its airport. The road is paved all the way to the house except for the last 2 miles. SECURITY, MAINTENANCE - You will be greeted at the property by Jose and Maria who live close by all year long. They will show you around and give you the keys to the house. BATHING, SWIMMING - The house is 20 minutes away from Dominical, i.e. from the Pacific Ocean (and surf). Driving South or North along the coastline, you will find empty and semi-empty beaches and bay areas with fine beige sand and very civilized waves. From one of the streams of cascading water on the property line, a pool was dug in a natural basin; its water is always fresh and rejuvenating. It is a very intimate and safe place. FOOD, SHOPPING, MARKETS - A 20 minutes drive will take you to San Isidro where you will find everything, from attractive restaurants to food and clothing stores. On Thursdays and Fridays, there is a « feria » (an outdoor market) where you can buy locally grown fruits and vegetables, even organic ones. Also in San Isidro is “Lufercz”, a supermarket where you can find Costarican beer and coffee, and other exotic products such as sushi rice and nori sheets. And along the road between San Isidro and La Alfombra, there is a number of vegetable stands and restaurants with good food at very reasonable prices. OTHER RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES - You will not have to go very far from the property to practice your favorite sport. You can take a horse ride to the spectacular Nuyaca Falls, or drive to Dominical, small town which is paradise for surfers. And you may want to visit the natural reserves in the area, go to a farm renowed for growing different spices, or on an excursion to the tree tops of the forest. Keywords: High ceiling, open space, comfortable, original.

'Your house is phenomenal- the layout works for privacy and the common room brings all together . We did the horseback falls, rain forest zip lines, swam in the Pacific, skinny dipped in your jungle pool, drank much too much, ate like royalty and read 12 books collectively. Absolutely wonderful. For sure a return trip in the future.' B. Given 'We had an awesome time. Your place is beautiful (jungle pools are my new favorite) and we found all to be in good order. If any problems arose, M and J were quick to fix and very pleasant. We would love to have them here on a daily basis! ' M. Lotte 'We cannot possibly describe the magnificent time we had at your home. We were completely spellbound by its beauty and by your touch and details. I hope to bring my brother, the real birder of the two of us next year for his 50th birthday. I know I will never see him as he will be up at dawn and not back till dusk.(I spent hours birding myself!) We saw and confirmed 42 bird species from your deck including a pair of laughing falcons. WOW!' S. Mooney "We have been travelling for quite a few months and have stayed in many beautiful places all over the world but this is hands down the most amazing spot of all of the places we have stayed - it is absolute perfection" Anna-Lisa UK Very private, exotic house with spectacular view over valley to the sea. Very romantic. Unbelievable sunsets. The house is a labor of love, but the spot alone makes living here delicious. Perched on the edge of a 50-acre tree farm, the deck is a great place to watch falcons, kites, toucans and chattering flocks of parrots. Hummingbirds visit nearby flowers (arbors and pergolas make plants part of the architecture), and butterflies occasionally fly through the house. Because of the elevation, biting insects are almost nil. Days are hot but there's always a breeze; nights are fresher and good for sleeping. Unlike lower elevations, the area stays lush and green all year. Bougainvillea, palms and other tropicals share the stage w/ azaleas, tree ferns, and jasmine, which rambles up the outdoor showers. The gardens have been planted with perfume in mind. Mornings ring with birdsong and are a good time for a hike. Afternoon heat is beat by a 5 min ramble to the waterfalls- great for rainforest exploring and skinny dipping. A little dam creates a 30x40 ' jungle pool. The water is clean and cool, the site wild and beautiful. Or you can go to the beach. .. Well-situated between Dominical, one of CR's premium surf havens, and San Isidro, a bustling little inland city. We're 30 min from each.On the way to Dominical, reserve for a 1-day horseback trip to Nuayuca Falls, a spectacular cataract and swimming hole. You stop halfway there for breakfast and halfway back for lunch at the family ranch w/ resident toucans and scarlet macaws. Dominical is a bit of a scene; you'll find several restaurants and nice surfer atmosphere. There are nature reserves w/ wildlife tours, zip-lines through the canopy, deep-sea fishing packages (some of the best in the world), and tennis at Rio Mar. 15 min south is Ballena National Pk, a gorgeous string of beaches. San Isidro is the place to shop for food and anything else you might need. We try to time our errands for Thursdays & the huge open-air market where you find everything from organic arugula to sugarcane. At the farm , be greeted by a lovely Tico couple who caretake; their home is a sort of gate house. Jose is very responsible and handy, Maria can be hired by the hour ($3) to babysit, housekeep or do laundry. Both are wonderful and trustworthy. About 1/4 mile past their house and into the farm is our home. The floor plan consists of 4 separate structures to provide maximum privacy: The main house is open on 2 sides (unless you prefer to close the accordion wood doors), and has a beautiful hardwood ceiling. A kitchen with every possible accessory (we love to cook!) gives onto the dining area, where a hardwood table seats eight, ten in a pinch. The LR boasts a bamboo daybed, coffee table, and 4 teak lounge chairs, Flat panel TV with DVD player and collection of movies, Ipod dock stereo player. All water in the house is filtered and bacteria free with Ultra-Violet sanitizing system. Finally, there's a pantry, and a BR with toilet + Mexican ceramic sink/vanity. A ladder climbs to the top of this module, where a loft sleeps to 4 kids . Right of the main house, separated by a flower-decked wall, is the master cabina. holds a queen bed w/ lge custom mosquito net, bamboo armoire, and closet. An outdoor shower and sink framed by jasmine and orchids + a small private garden and seating area provide charm and intimacy. A second cabina is perched above-right from the first, screened by a garden. It has its own deck and outdoor shower with great view, The 3rd cabina is left of the main house, down the deck through a pergola. It has an italian tiled floor. There a 2 bathrooms and 3 showers Beautiful pristine off the beaten track un touristy area. A feel of the real Costa Rica. Beautiful vegetation and wild life all around Incredible area for birders Lots of rivers and waterfalls. Trekking all over

There a 2 bathrooms and 3 showers
