The SpaceLittle Orchard is our lovely, quirky house on the north eastern edge of Dartmoor National Park. We love our corner of Dartmoor and look forward to welcoming you to our home. We can offer you a cosy, comfortable double bedroom with en suite shower facilities. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. We include a simple tea/coffee and toast/cereal/croissant breakfast with fruit and yoghurt as available. Cooked breakfast and other meals can be provided by arrangement at extra cost. I love cooking and can always rustle up a delicious meal! We have a farmhouse style kitchen with large pine table, woodburning range and double doors out to a decked area with tables and chairs - perfect for meals in the summer. The house has adaptable accommodation with roomy hallways where you can find a quiet spot to read, relax or work. Our conservatory is a pretty, sunny spot perfect for breakfast, afternoon tea or a place to read the papers, watch TV and perhaps have a snooze after a busy day walking or sightseeing. Our flat screen TV also has DVD player and we have an ipod/iphone dock for charging and listening to your music - plus free WiFi. We have a large, mainly untamed garden and a field with bench seats to take advantage of the great views and perhaps have a G&T /picnic. There are smaller terraced parts of the garden to sit in as well as the large decked area. The garden is very much 'work in progress' with ambitious plans afoot. Chagford (3 miles) is our nearest village or to be exact a Stannary town ( where they used to weigh the tin from the local tin mines). This is a popular tourist spot but has kept its charm with stunning scenery, National Trust property, individual, independent shops, cafes and pubs as well as great walking country. Chagford also boasts a great outdoor swimming pool in a fabulous setting by the banks of the River Teign. Gidleigh Park Hotel is quite famous with its Michelin starred restaurant. Many of our guests stay with us because we are close to GIdleigh Park and we are happy to provide transport (small charge) for our guests who have booked accommodation with us and want to eat there. Exeter is our nearest city with its historic quay side offering great shopping centres, theatres, cinemas, art galleries, restaurants and tourist attractions. Exeter has good road and rail links and an international airport all within half an hours drive from us. We are close to the A30 with easy access to North and South Devon towns/beaches and Cornwall. We are surrounded by beautiful moorland villages and small towns offering tourist attractions, superb walking and cycle routes as well as other outdoor activities such as horse riding and kayaking etc. We are on The Dartmoor Way a circular walking or cycling route which passes our door! The Two Moors Way and The Mariners Way are also close. Although there is public transport a car is recommended as we are a little off the beaten track. Transport from Exeter can be arranged if we are available. Guests will enjoy a double bedroom with ensuite shower. Our sunny conservatory is available for guests to enjoy with TV, iphone speaker and comfy sofas to relax on after a busy day seeing the sights. As your hosts we are on hand to provide for your needs, are happy to chat but also respect your privacy and will leave you to enjoy the space as you wish. We can advise on places to visit, recommend restaurants and tell you about local walks etc. We are surrounded by amazing unspoilt countryside with woodland, moorland, meandering rivers and pretty villages. Parking on site. No public transport from house but good road and rail links nearby. We have a dog - Alfie is very friendly and has his own recommendation from a previous guest who after travelling the world called him the 'coolest' dog she had met. Praise indeed! Guest AccessGuests will enjoy a double bedroom with ensuite shower. Our sunny conservatory is available for guests to enjoy with TV, iphone speaker and comfy sofas to relax on after a busy day seeing the sights. The SpaceThe Dartmoor National Park is one of the last great wildernesses in England and we have it on our doorstep. Chagford (1.5miles from Monks) is an enchanting and lively market town, with a range of shops and pubs to suit all tastes and pockets. There is even a flea market on Fridays. We have an art gallery, which you are very welcome to explore. The gardens are extensive - and the orchard is perfect for lolling around on deckchairs. We have created a wildlife sanctuary around a lake at the bottom of one of the fields. Watch butterflies and birds dart over the water. If you have bikes there is secure storage. We love telling our guests about the local area, but equally understand if you just want to enjoy peace and quiet. We can show you wonderful walks - straight from the front door. Simon loves showing people around his mastering studio - Super Audio Mastering - which is in a unique roundhouse among the barns. We love everything about Devon and Dartmoor and look forward to sharing them with you. We are 25 minutes from Exeter St David railway station. We have an extra room available. Please contact us for details and to discuss requirements. This a twin bedroom with a shared bathroom. We also have large fields with a solid field shelter if you would like to bring horses. The fields are usually used for sheep or cows (and a rogue heron or two.) They are in excellent condition with safe and secure fencing. Again, please contact us to discuss this first! Great Cleave is the largest of three 4 star cottages at East Underdown. The cottage was once part of a threshing barn which dates from the 17th century. This modern barn conversion of upside down design retains many of its original roof beams and trusses in the high ceilings of the sitting room (15ft to the apex). This creates on one side a double bedroom and the other a gallery which is popular with children. The gallery also has a futon which can be an additional bed. There are 4 double bedrooms, (3 on the ground floor) 3 bathrooms (one is an ensuite shower room), dining/living area which can accommodate up to 16 diners (the capacity of all 3 cottages), gallery seating area, Freeview, DVD, VCR, fully equipped kitchen including range master double oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, woodburning stove (wood provided). Dartmoor National Park is one of the last wilderness areas of Britain -- moorland landscape, wild ponies, ancient settlements -- great walks. Children love the Miniature Pony Centre at Moretonhampstead (5 miles) and the House of Marbles at Bovey Tracey (12 miles). Five minutes from the last castle built in England -- Castle Drogo. 13 miles from Exeter and Exeter University.
