The SpaceThis is a very private suite in a large house, with a view of the back garden and swimming pool. You will have your own private bathroom (accessible only through your room) with a shower. The suite has a good, solid wifi signal but no television. There's plenty of free parking. Guest AccessSwimming pool, washer/dryer, wifi. We are pretty much a television-free household, so if catching your favorite show or game is important to you ours might not be the best place. Interaction with GuestsOur interaction with guests totally depends on our schedule and yours. I am on tenure track and the U of I. My work keeps me exceedingly busy so I'll ask for your forgiveness in advance for the fact that I don't have more down time. :) The NeighborhoodLots of trees, very quiet, family/bike/walk friendly neighborhood. Getting Around2 miles from the U of I campus. Plenty of parking. City bus stop is 1/2 block away and will have you on campus in 15-20 minutes depending on where you're going. It's a big campus! Other Things to NoteBring your pooch if he/she's very well trained; let's discuss. No cats.

The charming Butler's kitchen has the original deep, double porcelain sink, floor to ceiling cabinets with dishes, glassware, and silverware of every kind, coffee maker, small microwave, small fridge, coffee, tea, cream, sugar, placemats, napkins, and a dedicated cabinet to store your food. There is a private entrance from the front porch into the gallery and one out to the back rose garden, brick grill, garden table that seats eight, cedar benches, fireplace and greenhouse. Guest AccessGuests are welcome to enjoy sitting on the front porch or anywhere in the gardens Information about painting classes and artist's retreats are on our website at (URL HIDDEN) Interaction with GuestsI like to have a selection of teas and a snack ready for you when you arrive. Upon arrival and departure I am available to meet with you. We can also arrange to have the key in a mailbasket if you're arriving after 10:00 p.m. The NeighborhoodWe are in the Sesquicentennial Neighborhood with the brick streets and big Oak trees, two blocks from our thriving downtown. You can walk through the beautiful old West Side Park with the magnificent "Prayer for Rain" fountain, beautiful gardens and many sculptures, to get to the great cafe's and restaurants. Getting AroundWalking to downtown two blocks away is delightful. We have a very efficient bus system that can be accessed 1-2 blocks away that is great for going to Campus, which is about a mile away. Other Things to NoteSpring 2015 we panted 60 roses and 70 evergreen shrubs in the front and back gardens. It smells and looks beautiful. January 2016 we added a new four burner gas stove and 10cu ft. full upright refrigerator/freezer to the charming Butler's Pantry kitchen. In response to a great suggestion from a guest, we added an elegant three panel door on the bathroom in 2015. I host weekend or week long Artists Retreats here at the White Dove Garden and Gallery that can include painting lessons in the studio and/or Plein Air painting excursions to the University of Illinois Master Gardener Idea Garden, Arboretum and Hosta Garden and Japan House, historical West Side Park and Lake of the Woods, as well as some private gardens.

The Space2000 sq foot home built in 1950. Convenient location. Guest AccessAs shared space: Your own bedroom (sleeps two), bathroom with shower (no tub), and a personal entrance should we need privacy. Access to kitchen and common areas, as well. Interaction with GuestsWe will be in the home unless we indicate otherwise by changing the listing. The NeighborhoodThere are two good parks nearby with playgrounds. It's a nice neighborhood to walk or run in. Getting AroundUnfortunately there are no truly convenient bus stops. Best to have car, Uber app, or a bike. Other Things to NoteWhen we are sharing our home, please arrange for your own food. Help yourselves to tea and condiments, but because we have restricted diets, our food is generally expensive & we cannot share it. Thanks for your understanding.

The SpaceThe ground floor has a washroom, kitchen, laundry room, dinningroom/lounge, and a large outdoor north facing patio with a outdoor table and BBQ. Up the stairs will bring you to two bedrooms (one with a walk-in closet, and private balcony overlooking the common courtyard). There is also a full bathroom up there. Guest AccessGuests will have a security code to get into the lobby on the main floor (between Ko Fusion and Big Gorve tavern). The code will operate the lifts which bring you to the 4th floor. Inside you will find the Garage Door Remote and instructions on accessing it and the parking space. Interaction with GuestsWe have many other long term tenants in the same building. Everyone is super friendly. You might meet our neighbors on the patio, or Molly in the hallway. She's a beautiful old retriever that lives a few doors down. The NeighborhoodThere are plenty of bars, restaurants, music venues, theatres, and shops around us. They just opened up the BlackDog Champaign Smoke House (twin of the famous Urbana BBQ Restaurant) and they are opening a Common Ground Coop grocery store down the street too! Getting AroundYou can park your car downstairs (don't loose the Garage door remote otherwise $$), but you can also Uber it anywhere. I use Uber all the time when the girlfriend takes the car. Buses stop right outside the front door on Main street and take you to campus or to Markeplace mall. There are 2 Zipcars in the parking lot outside Ko Fusion (just downstairs). Taxis.... Please, this is 2015. No one uses taxis anymore ;) Other Things to NoteWe will send you a code for the door, unless one of us meets you there (but we travel from Champaign a lot of the year). The code will be valid for only you and your guests and will cease to work once you leave (Digital door lock - I love technology).

Guest AccessThere are parking spaces next to the properties for 3 cars, and there is ample free street parking as well. There is a bus stop just half of a block away. Getting AroundThere are parking spaces next to each of the properties for 3 cars (so, 6 cars total), and there is ample free street parking as well. There is a bus stop just half of a block away. Other Things to NoteWe own a dog and a guinea pig. Though the animals won't be on premises during your stay, please be aware of this if you have allergies. --- FAQ: Why is the security deposit so high? With every additional person in such a large group, the risk for someone to damage/break/steal something goes up. Since I cannot vet anyone in the group except for the person making the request, the security deposit is what can make me feel comfortable lending my home to strangers. I hope that's understandable. If you're not comfortable with this, I can lower the security deposit if you provide more information about the additional guests. The way Airbnb handles security deposits is that you don't pay anything, unless something gets reported damaged/broken/stolen after you check out. Airbnb provides more information here: https://www.airbnb.com/support/article/140
