SOMBRAS DEL VIENTO INCLUDED AMENITIES Your Personal On-Site Staff: We provide a Concierge House Manager, Private Chef, Live-in 24/7 Groundskeeper, and daily Housekeeping (except Sunday). While SOMBRAS DEL VIENTO is an independent vacation experience within a private home, our staff will welcome you upon arrival, keep things tidy and make sure all the little touches are just right. Linens and towels changed every 3 days, bathrooms and kitchen cleaned daily. Chef service includes 3 meals per day, Sundays are extra, and groceries are not included. Gourmet Kitchen: We provide water-coolers for drinking/cooking, and locally sourced coffee and some welcome snacks. Grocery stores for all your needs are easily located in Tulum and grocery shopping can be coordinated with your chef. Add-on Amenities: Our Concierge House Manager can help you plan activities, in-home masseuse, spa treatments, airport shuttles, car rentals, and more. The owners will help make sure your booking is all sorted out, and then will introduce you to your Concierge House Manager and your Personal Chef. She can also help you arrange your car rental, and have it delivered to Sombras del Viento. One of the best kept secrets of the Riviera Maya, Bahía de Soliman beckons travelers in search of a magical escape. Our tranquil turquoise bay is protected by a coral reef full of wildlife and lined with a white sandy beach. As a secluded beach community of vacation homes tucked between the ocean and the mangrove jungle, you'll find yourself in another pace and time. We are located 1.5 hours south of the Cancun Airport, only 5 minutes to the Tulum Ruins, and just 15 minutes north of Tulum Pueblo. The community here at Soliman Bay is friendly and laid back. In the slow seasons you might have the beach all to yourself. Most folks are content to simply spend their days lounging at the pool, exploring the beach, waking for sunrise, bird watching, kayaking and snorkeling (motorboats and fishing prohibited). With our convenient location to Tulum Pubelo more adventure is available if you're looking for it: beaches, mayan ruins, jungle tours, artisan crafts, restaurants and night life. Soliman Bay is a charming quiet community off the beaten track, yet is an easy 15 minute drive to the town of Tulum. We recommend getting an airport shuttle to the house, and then having a rental car delivered to the house. Our concierge house manager can help with all that. It's also possible to forgo a rental car and rely on a taxi for access to town. Other Things to NoteYou can visit the Villa on (URL HIDDEN)

Once you're in the house, you can contact me (I'm in Texas) or the local property manager. The NeighborhoodChan Chemuyil is a friendly community of 220 single family homes located between Akumal and Tulum, with close proximity to the town of Chemuyil, Xcacel beach, and the many wonders of the Riviera Maya. Chan Chemuyil is an international community comprised of mostly part-time residents from Canada, the US, Europe, and Mexico. Casa 12 Palmas guests reflect that diversity. So far we've had visitors from California, Germany, Denmark, Argentina, and New York. Nearby Chemuyil is an authentic small Mexican town without the tourist hordes of Tulum or Playa del Carmen. Getting AroundMost guests rent a car at the Cancun airport. If you plan to visit the Mayan ruins and do lots of sightseeing or have small children, this may be your best choice. However, public transportation is available: ADO buses, from the Cancun airport to Playa del Carmen (PDC) and from PDC to Tulum, are an option. Another option is to take the ADO bus from the Cancun airport to PDC and a taxi from PDC to Chan Chemuyil. And for the really adventurous type there is the "colectivo". Other Things to NoteFor more information as well as many pictures and videos, search the web for "Casa 12 Palmas". There you will find links in popular social media and video sites. You may find the weather so pleasant that the A/C is not necessary most of the time. Having the windows open keeps the air flowing and one can enjoy the sweet sounds of local tropical birds...

The NeighborhoodOne of the best kept secrets of the Riviera Maya, Bahía de Soliman beckons travelers in search of a magical escape. Our tranquil turquoise bay is protected by a coral reef full of wildlife and lined with a white sandy beach. As a secluded beach community of vacation homes tucked between the ocean and the mangrove jungle, you’ll find yourself in another pace and time. With our convenient location to Tulum Pubelo more adventure is available if you’re looking for it: beaches, mayan ruins, jungle tours, artisan crafts, restaurants and night life. Getting AroundSoliman Bay is a charming quiet community off the beaten track, yet is an easy 15 minute drive to the town of Tulum. We recommend getting an airport shuttle to the house, and then having a rental car delivered to the house. Our concierge house manager can help with all that. It's also possible to forgo a rental car and rely on a taxi for access to town. Other Things to NoteWhile we officially can accommodate up to 8 adults, we can also accommodate up to 4 children who can sleep on 3 daybeds and a 1 pack-n-play. Please see the bedroom descriptions for more information on layouts. Regarding staff gratuities: We hope you will be very pleased with the excellent job our staff does to make your stay the best possible. They often can provide additional assistance and to show your appreciation they do appreciate gratuities from the guests very much. They are very special people and you will have become good friends by the end of your stay. We recommend $10 USD per room per day for the Chefs to share, $8 USD per room per day for Groundskeeping, $6 USD per room per day for Housekeeping. You may also choose to tip the Concierge House Manager in this same range if she had been especially useful during your stay.

On the second floor there are three bedrooms. The beachside bedroom has a queen size bed and a small balcony above the beach. Another bedroom has a double bed and a twin bed. The third bedroom on the second floor has a king size bed, and from this bedroom you can see the vast, undeveloped jungle, opposite the beach. There is a large deck on the second floor that stretches around the house to give views of both the ocean and jungle. On this deck, there is a hammock with a bamboo covering for shade. This deck is a great place to sit down and enjoy drinks and snacks, and to look at the stars at night. Casa Caracol has a covered carport with room for two cars, and leading up to this carport is a driveway with room for two more cars. On the side of the house opposite the beach, there is a sandy garden with palm trees and aloe vera plants. Casa Caracol is located in Tankah (Tancah) Bay, a private, residential beach area between Akumal and Tulum, with a gorgeous coral reef and calm waters. It is south of both Cancun and Playa del Carmen, in a quieter area of the Mayan Riviera. Nearby attractions include a beautiful natural cenote, the Tulum village and ruins, Xel-Ha nature park, Sian Ka'an biosphere reserve, and the Casa Cenote beachside restaurant one minute down the beach. Tankah Bay is accessible via Route 307 (the main highway along the coast), and is comprised solely of beachfront properties. There are no words in any language to express the experience! A truly amazing setting, Villa Luminosa faces south overlooking Tankah Bay and the reef - with views on a clear day of the Tulum ruins and beyond. You can enjoy breathtaking sunrises and sunsets and experience the serenity that comes from privacy, the lush gardens, the music of birds in the palm trees, and the soothing sound of the waves over the reef. Villa Luminosa's unique location on Tankah Bay provides for an always gentle breeze with no strong west winds. Because Tankah Bay has its own reef that acts as a breaker, the bay is tranquil with only lap waves at shore making snorkeling unbelievable in the calm clear waters. Tropical fish, rays, and sea turtles are seen in the bay and coral heads. This is some of the safest, easiest, and best snorkeling on the bay. A walk along the coral and sand beach is perfect for exploring the tide pools and for shelling. As an added plus, there are three restaurants on the bay - all within walking distance. Villa Luminosa is an expansive tropical paradise where inside and outside become one - a beautifully designed and decorated beachfront home with all the amenities you need for a perfect vacation. The rooms are spacious and decorated in a modern Mexican motif. A wide palapa roof porch with jungle tree supports (each its own piece of mother natures wondrous art) traverses the entire front of the main floor overlooking the beautiful vegetation of the grounds, palm tree tops, pool, beach and bay beyond. Reforested Tzalam wood Adirondeck lounges and a long dining table with chairs (made by local craftsmen in Bacalar) allow maximum enjoyment of this wonderful shaded outdoor space. Behind are two generous bedrooms and baths on each side of a central great room furnished with Mexican Equipale furniture along with a flat screen TV and DVD player. The dining area of the great room is furnished with a handmade dining room table designed by a local Mexican Architect, The focal point of the great room and the fully equipped kitchen is a naturally sculptured jungle tree that extends from the floor, through the Ticul marble counter, to the ceiling. There is also an office area with WiFi available throughout the house. One of the highest rooftops on the bay allows for viewing the most spectacular sunrises and sunsets over water, stargazing, sunbathing, or dining. The pool level features an open courtyard with a giant gathering table for 12, outdoor kitchen with refrigerator, gas grill, and two more expansive bedrooms and baths that open to the pool deck. The large pool and pool deck provide ample space for swimming, playing in the water, relaxing, sunbathing, and enjoying a drink on the built in pool bench. The deck offers shade for those who prefer to be out of the sun. Alicia and Francisco (an experienced chef) impeccably maintain the property daily and will provide the most delicious meals of pollo fajitas, tacos pastor, pollo en mole, or your selections from the extensive menu and they will do all the shopping required. Your only cost for two meals a day (if you want them) is the cost of the food and tip for service. They live on the grounds and provide care and security throughout your entire stay. Parking is available in a secure garage. Villa Luminosa's lovely and private setting along with the impeccable service will make your stay memorable. You will leave Villa Luminosa renewed, rejuvenated, relaxed, and dreaming of your return. Casa Maare---at pristine Xcacel Beach and so close to Tulum ruins, jungle cenotes, Xelha Eco-park and more--- it's your comfy, cozy home base for a great vacation. Located between Akumal and Tulum near Xcacel Beach, Casa Maare is furnished in a casual style using natural, sustainable materials such as bamboo with accents of Mexican folk art. The casa has a traditional outdoor pergola for shade in the front and beach towels, a cooler, and chairs to enhance your time at Xcacel beach. Casa Maare's property managers, Elena and Patricio, will be available in the neighborhood to assist you with activity planning or whatever you might need during your stay. Casa Maare has all the comforts of home---soft sheets, soft towels and a/c. Casa Maare comfortably accomodates 2 - 4 people, with a basic kitchen, indoor or outdoor seating and a sectional couch in the adjacent living area. A stay at Casa Maare is comfort and adventure at an affordable rate. Casa Maare is situated in a unique community of brightly colored homes populated by locals and Canadian and US expats and part-timers. The neighborhood is surrounded by jungle filled with birds and animals and also features two cenotes, one deep enough for a cooling plunge. The casa is a short walk from a charming pueblo and the pristine Xcacel beach and cenote, and is just minutes from ocean diving and snorkeling, and the Yucatan's famous cenotes, a system of underwater caves and caverns for the more experienced diver. A short drive takes you to Yucatan adventures of a lifetime---Xel-Ha and Hidden Worlds Ecoparks, the Tulum and Coba ruins, The Jungle Place, and the Sian Kaan Biosphere. Casa Maare and its neighborhood of Chan Chemuyil are unique in that they are modest, Mexican-style homes originally built as staff housing for a resort that was never built on the nearby Xcacel beach. The beach was declared a sea turtle sanctuary and the homes languished until a trio of enterprising investors re-packaged and marketed these little gems to locals and vacationers. Built to last, these casitas have weathered 2 hurricanes since 2001. Most owners purchased since 2007 and the tract has evolved into the techni-colored rows and various remodeled facades you see today. When you vacation at Casa Maare, you'll enjoy many of the amenities of a resort---a/c, comfortable furnishings, lively Mexican decor---but also have the flexibility to prepare your own meals in a simple kitchen, entertain in your own living quarters and private patio, sleep to the sound of ocean breezes and wake to the sounds of tropical birds in the jungle across the street. Our property management team keeps an office in the neighborhood and are on call to assist you in any way. For additional fees, you can have groceries delivered, extra maid service, or massage. The Tulum area of Quintana Roo is unique in all the world with an astonishing number of cultural, ecological, oceanographic and archeological wonders to explore and enjoy. The Yucatan peninsula offers something for all kinds of travelers---warm, sunny weather, calm, beach time relaxing, adventurous diving and birding, family-friendly ecological parks, historical tours of the ruins, festive dining and shopping, and more. It's an amazing place with a vibrant history and culture and I am happy to be able to share it with other travelers.
