The SpaceArtisanale Morjim is the home where Jude and his father grew up, making the home some 90+ years. It is set about 50 metres from the village road. The road is flanked by the Chapora river and the village of Morjim.
The object of beauty, and rarity bang in the middle of the 50 metres of garden space in front of the house, is Goa's ONLY Baobab tree. A 100+ old tree, it was brought as a seed from South Africa. The house is surrounded by greenery. The backyard is about 10 metres in width. The dense hillside runs straight into the backyard.
Since we are at the foothill of the hillside, there are bound to be insects/ beetles, the occasional lizard and such, to enter the house. We have done the required pest control and have taken the necessary precautionary steps to keep rodents and other creatures out of the house. But well, somethings are beyond us.
The house has a large outdoor verandah, perfect for long books, wines, bird calls, misty dawns, India's infamous cutting chai (a single tea that is divided among 2 cups). The house has 6 rooms. There is the elongated living room cum work area, the dining cum kitchen and the bedrooms. One bedroom overlooks the lawns and has an attached bathroom. It has a large double sized bed. The larger bedroom, has 2 single beds, and has an open bath area, with a shower curtain. We have 1 additional foldable bed which can be setup in the living room. We do provide fresh linen and for longer staying guests, we change the linen once in 10 days. The bathroom has a washing machine which you are welcome to use. We would stock the kitchen with basic knick knacks, condiments, etc..We provide a 4 gas burner, kettle, pots and pans for daily cooking. If you would like the fridge to be stocked with something in particular, you could let us know and we would try to arrange for it before you get here. Pratima, our daily housekeeper and gardener oversees work around the lawns and will also wash up and look after the house. We also have a prepaid internet wifi. We will hand over a usb dongle to you, and you have to recharge it as per your requirement and usage.
You would need to hire a scooter/ car/ motorbike to get around the area, let us know ahead of time, so we can get in touch with the people renting these vehicles out here.
