See and be seen Chelsea bubbles as the best champagne bubbles, irrepressibly. And nowhere does it bubble better than here. Caught between the King’s Road and the rolling river, Oakley Street IV is plum in Chelsea’s heart. This is where beautiful people meet and greet, where yummy mummies browse the glamorous boutiques and where famed pub The Phene serves potent cocktails to its well-dressed clientele. And in this second floor home, you won’t find a better place for people watching. Bright, airy and sweet, it’s also surprisingly quiet. So sit back and savour the solitude, or nip downstairs for some truly glamorous society. Renaissance man Your host hails from Italianate lands, but was drawn to London by the bright lights and big city. He brought his love of art with him though, so when he’s not sipping wine in the local restaurants, he’s soaking up the paintings and pictures that decorate his home. Sofalising For all the babble and glamour at street level, to step into this second floor apartment is to leave it far below. That is, unless you happen to glance out the kitchen window – which lets you whip up lunch while watching Chelsea’s fashionable crowd flock into The Phene pub. The sitting room is the heart of this home, and it’s here you’ll find a glass dining table for six. There are also four sash windows, no less, to ensure every surface is aglow with daylight. Nestle into the creamy sofa with a book, or squash into the red armchair and eye up the eclectic artwork. There’s a neutral flavour to the bedroom, where you’ve some smart wooden furniture to go with the king size bed and our crisp linen. The shower room is modern, shiny and brimming with our White Company toiletries. Seeing stars The Phene is about as local as a pub can be, and there you can scout for celebs as you sip a pint in its beer garden. And you may need some refreshment after a day spent in the shops, bars and art galleries of the incomparable King’s Road. Saunter across to Battersea Park, visit the museums of South Ken or see the bright lights of the West End. The tube from Sloane Square to Oxford Circus takes only twelve minutes. Additional amenities include: iron & ironing board, hob, toiletries, cafetiere, hairdryer, onefinestay iphone. Cancellation Policy No-quibble cool-off period. Provided you book more than seven days before the start of your stay, you can cancel your booking no questions asked within 24 hours of making it, and we will refund 100% of any charges. Early cancellation. If you cancel at least 2 weeks before you are due to arrive, we will charge you 50% of the cost of your stay. Late cancellation. We’ll be as flexible as we can if you need to cancel. However, once you’re within two weeks of the start of your stay, we can’t refund your booking. Precious time This is a home that shines. Rare and lovely, there’s a deep calm to these neat, sleek rooms. Tactile objects, burnished mirrors and graphic fabrics breathe life into this newly refurbished space, while rich, bold colours warm the original features and modern furniture. But the best jewels dull where no one can see them – luckily, this home’s location is as dazzling as its decor. Set just behind King’s Road, you’re within grasping distance of some of the nicest shops and cafes in the city. Walk down to the Thames, or up to Gloucester Road, to the museums and Kensington Gardens. These memories are forever. Multi faceted Your Swedish hostess is a jewellery designer. She and her interior designer mother renovated this home together, and the result is a true labour of love. And when she’s not twisting gold and setting stones, she’s playing basketball in the gym over the road. Chain reaction Old Church Street’s aesthetic is minimalist, enlivened by a spiced colour palette and some wonderful art. An open plan living space is snug in shades of cinnamon and milk chocolate, with a large fireplace, a linen-clad couch and windows with views across Chelsea’s chimney pots. The eat-in kitchen’s eminently fashionable, its elephant-grey units holding everything you’ll need to conjure up something delicious. The bedroom features a darling little Victorian fireplace and textured sage-green walls. Head next door to soak away the day in the contemporary bathtub, then, slip between our crisp linen sheets. Outside the box You’re within a stroll of Harrods and Knightsbridge, of the museums and the emerald green lawns of Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. Closer still is King’s Road, where you’ve a vast array of designer boutiques and some of the capital’s top restaurants. Then, head down to the river and Chelsea Physic Garden, or, off into the West End – the tube from South Kensington to Piccadilly Circus takes a mere eight minutes. Additional amenities include: iron & ironing board, hob, toiletries, cafetiere, music player, hairdryer, onefinestay iphone. Cancellation Policy No-quibble cool-off period. Smooth operator Who knew Chelsea could be so… chic? We knew about the fashions, the fab bar scene and the famed Sloane Rangers, but when it comes to elegance and grace, one home stands apart – only it’s slap bang in the middle. Tucked just off the King’s Road, Old Church Street II is stylish and reassuringly serene. There’s a suggestion of turquoise to the sitting room, while the crisp white walls and broody fashion photography lend effortless flair. So, lie back and let those shopping bags drop, or slip on your Manolos and make the most of a truly sparkling location. Easy does it Your hosts are a young couple who mainly live in Portugal. When in town, they think Old Church Street II the ideal pied-à-terre. And frankly, we agree. Calming influence You’ll find this home in a beautiful period building in the beating heart of Chelsea. If outside is all about the buzz and bustle, inside is all peace and precision. The sitting room, you’ll notice, is just elegance itself. High spec and well-proportioned, the walls are white and there are tasty hints of turquoise. You’ve a choice of armchair or soft cream sofa in which to settle yourself, but not before you’ve prepared a deserving drink in the kitchen. With its clean lines and impeccable finish, no chef could feel more chic. The double bedroom is tempting in white and the gentlest blue, with a feature wall, mirrored chest of drawers and twin bedside lamps. You’ve a brightly modern shower room, while the master bedroom has a super king size bed, swathed in our crisp linen – as well as a dressing table, more feature wallpaper and fashion prints in black and white.
