A LITTLE PIECE OF HEAVEN!!! READ OUR REVIEWS!!! The cottage is lakefront and approx. 200 ft. from a Private Town Beach, with 2 lifeguards. It is a Spring Fed lake so the water is always super fresh and invigorating...It doesn't get any better than this! If you are looking for laid back, relaxing, and just plain, old fashioned comfort, this is the best spot on the lake. There is a large deck in front to enjoy the view, and front & back two 3 season porches, each with a lovely porch swing. My Grandparents built this beautiful home in the 1940's and even my Great Grandmother too! Pictures on our front porch, there are photos of all three of them with shovels in hand, starting to dig the foundation!!! Pictured next to them is my Dad, about the age of 12, on his bicycle. Grampa has built all of the stone walls and the foundation with large stones, carried in buckets, one by one. No power tools back then, just good old fashioned SWEAT EQUITY! So, to me, this is an HEIRLOOM, it is treated with the utmost respect, in all who come here, every nail hammered by his hand. We have completely renovated the whole house, little by little over the past few years, by adding a more user friendly big bathroom shower, and a washer and dryer for your convenience, and mine! Enclosing the back porch was a big renovation for us, but now it is so comfortable sitting on the back porch swing and reading a book or two. The lake is stocked with Trout by the RI- D.E.M., and is a favorite of Northwest RI fishermen. Located one mile from the cottage is Historic Chepachet Village, a quaint little downtown area, with Brown and Hopkins General Store, which is the oldest General Store in continuous operation. There are also antique shops and restaurants, laundry, a grocery store, and post office. It is also the home of the 'Ancients and Horribles Parade', which is the second oldest Fourth of July Parade in this area next to Bristol, RI. Chepachet is also historically important, as it was the sight of the Dorr Rebellion, we have several books at the cottage in reference to this famous battle. We also have some other books that are all in reference to this area of the country that have known to be haunted! REALLY!!! The famous Lizzie Borden house, on Second Street in Fall River, MA, is just about 40 minutes away, I have to say, that it is a very interesting tour, very informative, and a bit eerie , if you like mystery and intrigue go visit and see for yourself, it is also said to be haunted! Give it a try.. IF YOU DARE! Golf Amenities: Gloucester Country Club is located 3 miles east on Route 44. Further information can be provided if needed. Riding Stables: Riding stables are located on Route 44 west of Chepechet Village, and more info can be provided if needed. Wright's Farm Restaurant: Wright's Farm Restaurant is located less than 10 miles west of Chepachet Village on Route 44. It is an absolutely huge restaurant that specializes in home style family meals of rolls and butter, salad, roasted chicken, delicious macaroni and homemade sauce and crispy french fries that is all you can eat! Yes! They have banquet facilities and private rooms for family functions, a gift shop, and takeout. A great place to go. Telephone number will be provided. Reservations are recommended.
