Located in the heart of Historic Chester County, few locations in the United States offer so many things to see and do. Some of the loveliest creations of man or nature are nearby ( 1hr.). The cottage is on a 70 acre country estate (circa. 1797) with fields & trails, surrounded by over 2000 acres of private land. Yet, there is gourmet dining, tennis and historic sites within walking or bicycle distance. In the late 1990s, Chester County was listed as one of the top ten counties in which to live, owing to its beauty, historic significance and the general sophistication of its inhabitants. Horse-carriages and hot air balloons are just a few of the common sights. The Cottage is located on a private lane, just off a quiet, picturesque country road that is a favorite of bicyclists, joggers and equestrians. Bud and Rick Haly bought the W M Haly House in 2013 and completely renovated it, as a tribute to their late father, Walter M Haly, who loved the historic village. The W M Haly House was previously known as the Vaughn House, named after its last resident. It was originally built as a farmhouse in the 1830s by Samuel Holman, who signed his name in the concrete in the basement. The house was restored by the Historic Yellow Springs once in 1989 and served as a tenant residence. When Bud and Rick Haly bought and started renovating it in 2013, they salvaged a lot of the wood from the home and Rick, a woods craftsman, repurposed it and created a lot of the furniture, vanities and window sills that are in the home today. Located in the Historic Yellow Springs – a living community routed deep with rich history and tradition, the village has been around for over 275 years and offers a great blend of nature and historic buildings. Currently, a popular spot for weddings, art camps and shows, and its public library, the Historic Yellow Springs offers things to do all year round. At the same time, it is located just a short distance from Valley Forge Park, Philadelphia, beaches and mountains – giving you the opportunity to pick whatever adventure you desire.
