The SpaceThis site features our Train Room with two twin beds and a full bath shared with me and one other guestroom when occupied. Our comfortable house has two bedrooms upstairs. The Master Bedroom has a king-sized bed and 1/2 bathroom, the "train room" with two twin beds can be put together for couples to give a big bed "feeling", and a common bathroom with bathtub/shower. Downstairs is a pull-out couch that can sleep two in the den and a long sofa in the living room, and a half bath. Downstairs you will also find an open living room/dining room with grand piano, a warm fireplace insert and a common kitchen. Breakfast: I serve a breakfast and try to accommodate all tastes and needs and times. I try to have everything organic and GMO free with lactose and gluten free items available. Please let me know in advance any dietary restrictions you might have. Dinners are sometimes available with my Native American neighbors upon prior reservation and when they have room. They can also offer a tipi experience and/or Sweat Lodge. Wi-fi is available for your laptops but we have neither TV nor Radio. We are easily reachable, even in winter, as the snow plows come here first. We are located one hour from the Albany International Airport and 4 miles from the nearest town. Public transportation to get around is almost non-existent. However, to reach us there is a bus stop and train stop nearby. I can pick you up with advanced notice. We live in a 3 million acre park, the only one, I believe where nature and people live together. The whole park, except for wilderness areas, is dotted with quaint little towns and full of surprises and natural wonders. Check out my pictures. There really is something for everyone, guaranteed! We even have our own local currency which you are welcome to try out called the "Adirondack Buck". We are trying to become a "green" and self sufficient region to be ready for whatever the future throws at us. We would love to share our home with you. WELCOME!

The SpaceFor a fall or winter retreat this place is ideal. I want to rent the space for 2-4 weeks. Inside it is cozy and warm. There is plenty of wood for the fireplace insert. The oil back up heat keeps it toasty. The main road is plowed regularly. There is a master bedroom with its own half bath, a room with twin beds which can be pushed together for couples, a small single bedroom and a common full bath, all upstairs. Downstairs is a den with pull out double bed with curtains instead of doors and a very long comfortable couch (for giants) in the living room. There is also a half bath downstairs. From here, either from the front door or in close proximity, you have access to every winter sport imaginable. See my photos. For hunters: Nemecs, the hunting and fishing info center, is five minutes down the road. Grocery shopping and the world famous Oscars Smoke House are also only minutes away. The cleaning fee acts as a deposit and is refunded if you leave the house as you found it. Guest AccessYou have the run of the house (except one room) Interaction with GuestsI will have another airbnb host nearby if your have questions. The SpaceThe cabin is completely private, located on more than one acre of land just minutes from Exit 24 of I-87 North (about 70 miles north of Albany, NY). Across the street from the driveway is private access to 150 feet along the lovely Schroon River, excellent for swimming, fishing, canoeing or kayaking. There is a screened-in porch in the backyard that overlooks a firepit, and lovely privacy from the road due to the sloped driveway and treeline. My wife and I have been coming to this area for more than a decade to fish and hike. We jumped at the chance to buy this cabin when it came up for sale a few years ago. It was owned by a wonderful woman who swam in the river every morning in the summer. Her children and grandchildren have expressed to us their fond memories of family gatherings here. We lovingly restored the cabin, completely renovating the interior by installing new floors and walls. There is one bedroom with a queen size bed and another bedroom with bunk beds. We have kept the cabin low-tech. Your cell phone will work and there is a TV with lots of DVDs. There is also a bookshelf CD player and speakers. There is a landline and Wi-FI as well. The cabin has central air, which is rarely needed, due to cross-ventilation from the many windows as well as very good insulation. There is electric baseboard heat as well as a ceiling fan with a heater that works terrifically well if you get a bit chilly at night. The kitchen is equipped with a stove, coffee maker, toaster oven, utensils and cookware, and there is a refrigerator located in a back room adjacent to the kitchen. There is also a lovely little front porch seating area. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the entire house including garage. Interaction with GuestsI am very knowledgeable about the area and I make myself available to inquiries from guests before, during and after their arrival. I also call the cabin on the day of their arrival in order to make sure everyone is comfortable. The NeighborhoodWe love this area for the beauty of the river across the street as well as its proximity to nearby attractions and conveniences. We are located about 3 miles away from Adirondack Extreme, a "treetop adventure park" that our teenage son visits at least once a season. We are 7 miles west of Bolton Landing, a lovely village located on the shores of Lake George with lots of restaurants and boutiques - good for date night and stroll. World class golf is available at the Sagamore Golf Club, located about 6 miles from the cabin. The Sagamore Resort, reached by a short bridge from the Village of Bolton Landing, has a world class spa and fitness center, and lots of dining options. There are public boat launches in Bolton at Norowal Marina (power boats and car top launch) and at Northwest Bay/Clay Meadow (car top launch only). Five miles to the north and east is Brant Lake in the town of Horicon, NY, which has a public boat launch for power boats. Brant Lake has a nice little public beach, perfect for small children. People enjoy biking around the lake, a 15,3 mile loop. One of our favorite places to visit is The Crossroads at 40 Dixon Road in Chestertown, which is five miles due north on Schroon River Road, crossing over Route 8 onto Dixon Road. Great deli counter with sandwiches and daily specials, terrific morning coffee and pastries, the newspaper and a vast selection of merchandise, from women's clothing to dry flies for casting on the river. The soft ice cream stand in the summer is very popular. You can fill up your vehicle with gas here. The Town of Chestertown is about 6 miles to the north and west. There you will find a very nice library for rainy days (check out the for sale bin), a supermarket, drug store, gas station, and a few nice casual restaurants, like the Main Street Ice Cream Parlor (great sandwiches, soup and pie as well as ice cream), The Bullhouse for steaks and Mexican food, and Buttino's Italian Bistro for pizza and pasta. Lake George Village is located about 20 minutes south, as is The Great Escape, a large amusement and water park. Lake George Village has a large beach for swimming and you can charter a boat in the Village. Fort William Henry is a seasonal museum and re-enactment center located in the Village that provides a glimpse of life in colonial times in this region. Lake George Village sponsors many events throughout all four seasons. There is also a lot of hiking nearby, including Prospect Mountain, which you can either drive or hike for a spectacular view of Lake George. Biking along Schroon River Road is easy and fun, as you follow the course of the river from Route 11 to the south to Route 8 to the north. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation. Other Things to NoteWe extend a special offer of one night free to any guest who rents the cabin for 7 days, so you will only pay for 6 days. The rate of $125 per night is based on occupancy by up to 2 adults and up to 2 of their children under 18 years of age.

The SpaceMore like going home than renting! The house is fully furnished for comfort and ease of function. Large, airy rooms are filled with Adirondack light. Movies, games, a fire pit (NY State burning bans may apply), and a variety of reading material are provided for rainy days and evenings. The large outdoor deck has it's own picnic table, grill and lots of comfortable seating. The screened in porch is a perfect spot for morning coffee and late night game time providing a great area for insect free relaxation throughout the day. Sadly, trees have grown with time and our lake view has become limited to more of a lake glimpse. In spite of what some of our reviews imply Lake View House is not a lake front property. The access to (private) Friends Lake is a seven minute walk from the house and can be accessed only on foot as there is no parking at the shore. At the house there are large lawn areas for relaxing in warm weather or making your own sleigh runs when it's snowy. Skates, xc skis, sleds, and snowshoes are provided in a variety of sizes. Beach and water toys, floats, noodles, canoes, 1 or 2 man kayaks, and 5 adult life jackets are provided during the summer season. Semi-private access to Friends Lake's natural (as in wooded) and somewhat stony shoreline provides opportunities for fun whatever the season. Although we provide boats for our guests enjoyment there is no dock at this time. We ask that guests enjoy the lake quietly (no glass containers or fires please) as a sign of respect for neighbors. This is a perfect spot for triathlon training from May through October. Cable, WiFi, and a land line for emergency use are included. In spite of what some of our reviews say we do not provide a prepared breakfast. We do however, provide breakfast fixings for our guests. The parking area at the house easily accommodates 2-3 vehicles. Maximum occupancy for this space is 5. Guest AccessYou can't beat having lake access! However, this house is located centrally and 15-25 minutes from both Gore Mountain and Lake George Village. The racing at Saratoga is less than an hour south and folks are hard pressed to choose between the lake and the horses! White water rafting, zip lining, hiking, swimming, paddling, fishing, both fine and great casual dining, water parks, 6 Flags Great Escape, fire works, cycling, breathtaking fall foliage, skiing (both downhill and xc), tubing, wicked cool sledding, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling, are just some of the things available from this location. There is a public sand beach and boat launch on Loon Lake, a 5 minute drive from the house. Having the Adirondack Mountains as the backdrop for these memorable activities and many, many others is what keeps people coming back year after year. Interaction with GuestsWe are happy to have as much or as little interaction with our guests as need dictates. The house has menus and leaflets regarding what the area has to offer but we make ourselves available to answer questions and make suggestions at any time. The NeighborhoodThe surprising thing about the neighborhood is that you would expect it to be "busy" throughout the day. However, this house is located on a large lot surrounded by woods which makes it seem private and quiet. Lake front use is usually quiet and private but it's important to remember to respect the privacy of others as well as neighbors. Getting AroundUnfortunately, there is no public transportation available. Other Things to NoteSpecial rates available for Saratoga race season and Gore Mountain NYSEF ski season. If you need something that is not provided please let us know.

Truly a house for all seasons. Loon Lake is a crystal clear lake renowned for its watersports and fishing.
